Well let's look at the result. An all or nothing attempt at a TD on a 4th and 3. They wasted a timeout for that.
To me it's real simple, if you're trailing you're not burning your timeouts for any other reason than to stop the clock. If your operation can't decide to go for it on fourth and get the play off then it just sucks.
If you're ahead, sure consider taking a timeout on defense if you don't like the look at the line. But this indecisive garbage burning up timeouts happens way too much to this team. It happens to Rodgers and Hundley. So I will blame McCarthy for not being able to pick out which Happy Meal he wants in time.

Davis tonight has pretty much summed up the effort of the team this year sans Rodgers.
1. Refused to lay out for a very catchable ball (he may not even had to lay out, just put his hands up).
2. Fair catches a punt inside the 5 yard line.
I don't mind him not being on the roster next year. I don't care about the one punt return he had a couple weeks ago. His "effort" reminds me of that tight-end we had dropping balls for a few weeks.
