Yeah, that's convenient. How can that be a touchback? But if you are advancing the ball the BALL has to cross the goalline. You can't score a TD with just your feet if the ball is at the 1. If that's the rule, it needs to be changed. Immediately.

Basically what they're saying is, we're making up the rules as we go. We don't want Green bay winning 2 in a row. It's bad for the league.

Expect this kind of crap all season long. The "PI" by AJ Hawk was complete crap. He never touched Sproles at all.

The Packers are going to have to play perfect football to win every week.
Possession with a knee down means the play is dead at that point. The same holds true for every other play on the field, why would it be different on a punt?

I don't care if he rolls into the endzone, or jumps up, strips his clothes off, and does the Macarena after. It should have been Saints ball at the 1.

If it is a rule, it's about as stupid as the one stating after you catch the ball in the endzone, you have to get up with the ball in your possession. If you're sitting on your ass, with the ball in your hands, and you flip the ball away, it's an incomplete pass.

The NFL is being run by "morans". First they're trying to get rid of the kickoff, what's next?

Packers' Tramon Williams in post-game pain

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- I just returned from the Green Bay Packers locker room to see that many of you are looking for an update on cornerback Tramon Williams, who departed the game late in the fourth quarter with a right shoulder injury.

WilliamsCoach Mike McCarthy didn't have much new information on the injury, and Williams said that the team's medical staff didn't give him a final diagnosis. But it's worth noting that Williams was walking in the locker room in the same pose he left the field in: Slowly, gingerly and with his left hand holding his right arm in place.

There's no sense speculating on what type of injury Williams has and how serious it might be. All we can say is that he was in significant pain when he left the field and that pain hadn't subsided by the time he got to the locker room. As always, stay tuned.

It is the rule:
quote:

If a member of the kicking team attempting to down the ball on or inside opponent’s 5-yard line carries the ball into the end zone, it is a touchback.

As the commentators mentioned AFTER a commercial break, this is a "continuing action" play. It is no different than had he kept he feet, caught the ball in mid-air, and then his momentum carried him into the end zone...That would also be a touchback.

The call was correct.

It was still a nice effort by Bush, who has developed into one of the best ST's players in the NFL.

That he was still in the locker room after the game is some good news. He was examined by the team doctor shortly after it happened and didn't get sent to the hospital so they must have figured it wasn't too serious. (I hope)

Yeah, he really carried the ball into the endzone. He caught the ball on the one with his knee downing the ball. What you posted is just the NFL's way of saying, we make up **** as we go.

The rule might read "carry", but every interpretation I've seen in actual games (not just last night) is that if any part of the body of the person downing the ball goes into the end zone, it's a touchback. Remember too that if you go into the end zone you have to re-establish yourself in the field of play or else it's a touchback.

Considering the way the current refs interpret the rules that are subject to interpretation (pass interference), do we really want more rules open to interpretation?
