This may be a stupid question.  But why didn't he just keep him wrapped up?  Didn't have to take him to the ground, didn't look like his momentum was headed that way.  That looked like what you do in a scrimmage or walk-thru.

Because he had Remmers draped on him and he would've fell into Cousins.

I think Clark got fooled by Cousins' arm motion. Clark thought the ball was gone. I cannot think of any other explanation. He had him, but Cousins' arm moved as if he had thrown but he didn't pull the trigger. Clark's head was buried in Cousins' chest and he did not see Cousins bring the ball back. So, rather than risk a RTP he just let him go. Goofy play.

Also, I could see the hit on Brady being called far more than Clay's hit. The Jag defender grabbed Brady a lot lower on the leg and lifted Brady's leg up before taking him down. The Jag used a rugby tackle with a wrestling takedown. Clay's hand was at the top of Cousins' thigh and he didn't lift; Cousins was already in the air when Clay drove through him.

Here's my problem - how do I teach my sons to tackle in football?  Been watching/playing/coaching football for 40ish years and thought I understood what the proper tackling technique was.  Hell, after seeing the non-TD for Adams, I don't even know what constitutes a catch any more either.  Two of the most basic tenets of the game of football and I can't explain what either is.

Got nothing to do with points. Or fans. As the lawsuits pour in its important to be able to point to measures taken to ensure player safety.

Protect the money while making money.

Honestly. I don’t think the NFL has a path out of the place they’re in.

I wonder what the NFL pays per year in insurance premiums?  And for team docs and medical and therapy and follow up care.  Got to be astronomical and as we know insurance companies want us to minimize risks and need for care.

If that Adams thing was called a catch I'd quit football. Hold onto the ****ing thing, big man.

It was good defense, but if Davante wants to be considered elite he needs to make one of the two opportunities he had at the end of the game. Both were tough balls to catch, but that's why he's making the big money.

This!

Caught the beginning of Dan Patrick's radio show yesterday and he was just disgusted about this Clay/Kirk penalty.

He suggested defensive players should just knock the **** out of the QBs cuz who wants to get a 15 yard penalty for what Clay did? Make it worth your while.

I can't say I'm completely against that sentiment.  Get a wussy drive extending RTP, or get a RTP penalty while knocking the opposing QB out of the game...  hmmm?

Anthony Barr agrees.

Respect is earned, Adams. Doesn't just come with the big money.

If they fine Clay, totally agree. Otherwise, don't do it.

Didn't get flagged. Bonus for him!

Foreseeable consequences are not unintended.

Mentioned this earlier. If the NFL is actually convinced that Clay's tackle was RTP and they are sending the video to all teams of what not to do.

Then fully compress a QB's chest cavity and take 15 yards.

This won't work out the way the NFL thinks it will. Nothing has worked out the way the NFL hoped it would for a while now.

Thanks. Sendejo made no move to go low or miss Adams’ head. Deserves the fine. He was the guy wearing the “Make football violent again” hat earlier this year. Guy has mush for brains now, and his career isn’t even over. 🙄
