"I leave with no regrets".... Until a few years down the road when I sue the **** out of the NFL for damage sustained while I played. I was young and really didn't understand the ramifications of playing a game.
Reality is he "left with no regrets" because he got no real offers and essentially had no choice but to retire. Bears closed the door on him and even the Queens had no serious interest. Dude was out of options.
Great Great player and continued the tradition of Butkus and Singletary

A respected rival indeed

Ron Wolf tried to go up and grab him in the draft but couldn't find a trade partner

Enjoy retirement Brian
Great rival player who had to be accounted for on every play. Won't miss his playmaking against us; will miss his intensity. Hope he kicks back with a brew on Sundays -- and watches the GBP win yet again against his old team! Big Grin

No way ap makes that tackle on urlacher.

Doubt he throws the ball right to him either.

Doubt he'd be in a position to go to a Super Bowl either. Oh wait, he was once, wasn't he...

I remember that game.

That play was AWESOME Kabeerme, thanks for posting it

And the knee injury that Urlacher got on that play started the downward spiral that ended his career....

Urlacher was kryptonite for the previous Packer QB, so glad to see Rodgers slay that dragon

There was another qb in Green Bay before Rodgers?

Great post Satori.
Nice to see most here giving a respectful tip-of-the-hat to a talented rival. Urlacher's presence and ability made our rivalry more fun from 2000-2012.

What I'll remember most about him was his speed (pre-knee injury)and his uncanny ability to intercept balls fired from just a few yards away. He could also leap like a gazelle for a big guy. His leaping interceptions in 2006 against the 49ers, or against the Panthers in the '05 playoffs, were plays no other MLB could make.

Thanks for the memories, Brian! I'm glad I won't have to endure seeing you flounder in another uniform (like Olin Kreutz a couple years ago).

You are welcome, BND. Razzer

I was actually kidding. Perhaps the most unfairly disrespected player in the league the last 10 years. Very smart LB with ungodly physical gifts.

I loved watching Urlacher before he was a Bear.

Poor white trash from a trailer park in rural New Mexico, basically uses football to get him and his siblings out of abject poverty. Freakish athleticism...I watched him run down our fastest WR from behind in college at easily 220lbs, and the kid he caught was 170 and also a sprinter on the track team.

Guy is the epitome of the American dream.

Saw him do the same thing to Ahman Green. One of the most impressive plays I remember seeing. Knew at that point that all the hype coming out of Chi-town was in fact the real deal.
I will not miss him when the Packers are playing the Bears in seasons to come. He was a formidable player before the injuries started to come in the last couple of years.

That said, he was a great player with an outstanding career.

As it should be.

Just sayin', the guy took advantage of what he had (his physical abilities), worked hard, and found a way out of poverty. Coulda been like any number of guys like him and chose a life of crime but didn't.
