He wasn't quite the legend Bears faithful made him out to be on the field and had a less than stellar reputation off of it, but he was a hell of an LB and was tailor made for that scheme. Wish Woodson would have followed his lead in "choosing" to retire.

I remember that game.

Good post jayblo. Even an idot like you can see the facemask that was never called.

*gasp*

are you blaming the officials?
The facemask play never should have happened. Rodgers over-threw/missed Jennings badly on the previous play... don't think he ever over-threw Jennings again.

Ponder on the other hand will continue to throw numerous passes short, high, outside, inside while badly missing with his WRs this season.

I know. Not every QB can come in and make an instant impact in his first year like rodgers. What'd it take, 4 years for him to throw his first incompletion?

Am I right?

Agree on that Rodgers overthrow in the Cardinals game. I think he actually slightly overthrew Jennings for TDs in both the Giants playoff loss and the 49er playoff loss.

Urlacher was a hell of a player and always seemed to give the Packers fits.

Yeah, Rodgers had Jennings and that is on him. Regardless, the face mask was BLATANT and should have been called. To not acknowledge this has to imply some serious bias.

Has there ever been a blatantly bad call that's went in the favor of the packlers or against the Vikings?

So, the refs don't blow those calls and the packlers* don't even make the playoffs. Weird.

2010*

Funny re-reading that from 2010.

They got that Shiancoe non-TD play right. The bottom half of the ball touched the ground on replay & the rule clearly states the ball cannot touch the ground. Even though Shaincoe controlled the ball.

Who gives a crap. Packers win, slaying the Vikings AGAIN with Favre at QB & go on to win the Super Bowl.

What a great season 2010 was.

Except the league admitted that they didn't "get it right". I agree, who gives a crap? Just like packler fans don't give a crap about a face mask call against Arizona. Just like packler fans don't give a crap about a possession call against Seattle.......who gives a crap?

It all evens out in the NFL, truly believe that. One call goes your way, next one may not. I think the league does a decent job in that regard.

Well, except for the red-headed step child that is the Minnesota Vikings. Nobody cares.

BTW, KFAN reporting that 69 is gone after this year. Great run.

Well, he'll be over 30 and expensive.

Is Rick Spielman Sybil? He talks endlessly about emulating the Giants, Packers, Steelers and Patriots yet pisses away four draft picks on an ungodly raw receiver with 12 games of D1 experience.

I like Brian Urlacher. He was a great player and somebody had to sleep with Paris Hilton or the world may have been infected. He's a hero, I tell ya.
I think the Bears are really going to regret letting Urlacher go. Yes his skills were in decline and I don't think it's a bad thing that they want to go younger, but Urlacher could have provided some much needed leadership on that D. It's not like they had an heir they had been grooming for years to take his spot, they signed a veteran MLB with an injury history to replace their veteran MLB with an injury history. Urlacher had a lot of savvy and I think would have helped more than he hurt on that D. His experience and knowledge of opponents, especially division rivals, is something they are going to miss badly. He was the QB of that D it seemed and they aren't going to replace him.
Not just because Urlacher's leaving, but I have a gut feeling the Bears are going to take a couple big steps back this year. The strength of the team has been defense and the core of that D is old and they lost Lovie Smith who I do actually think is a very good defensive mind even though as a head coach he was just okay.

As for Urlacher, wow was he quick when he was young. I remember a game against the Pack in about 2001 where Favre was scrambling in the pocket and Urlacher was 15 yards away or so. He closed that 15 yard distance about as fast as any LB I've ever seen and sacked him. Just incredible acceleration.

It would just bug the hell out of me when I'd hear people talk about Urlacher being overrated. No freaking way, he was the real deal. Ray Lewis is the best ILB of the past 15 years or so, but Urlacher is 2nd best during that time. Those 2 guys stand above the rest of the ILBs of this era.
It goes without saying that TBSS, and there will never be any love for them here!
However, it also goes without saying that they do produce warriors that are worthy opponents on occasion, and Urlacher surely was that.
Respect? Yes.
Love? Never!
The full page ad below was placed in all the Chicago newspapers on Friday 05/24/13. A classy (unlike many of the previous posts here and no doubt some later) move by the team. For those who appreciate and respect a great player, enjoy:
