GOALKEEPERS (3): Charlie Horton (Leeds; Cleveland Ohio), Ethan Horvath (Molde; Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Zack Steffen (Freiburg; Downington, Pa.).

Steffen impressed the hell out of me at the U-20 WC...supposedly Horvath has been even more impressive.

DEFENDERS (5): Cameron Carter-Vickers (Tottenham Hotspur; Westcliff on Sea,England), Matt Miazga (New York Red Bulls; Clifton, N.J.), Eric Miller (Montreal Impact; Woodbury, Minn.), William Packwood (Unattached; Concord, Mass.), Dillon Serna (Colorado Rapids; Brighton, Colo.)

Carter-Vickers and Miazga are the straws that stir this drink. Both have shown flashes they are the future of the USMNT backline.

MIDFIELDERS (8): Fatai Alashe (San Jose Earthquakes; Northville, Mich.), Gboly Ariyibi (Chesterfield; Arlington, Va.), Luis Gil (Real Salt Lake; Garden Grove, Calif.), Emerson Hyndman (Fulham; Dallas, Texas), Marc Pelosi (San Jose Earthquakes; Sunnyvale, Calif.), Matt Polster (Chicago Fire; Milwaukee, Wis.), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC; Gahanna, Ohio), Gedion Zelalem (Rangers; Bethesda, Md.).

This is a very young and inexperienced MF...Ariyibi, Hyndman and Zelalem are the most gifted...but outside of Hyndman, the other two are sorely lacking in international competition experience.

FORWARDS (4): Alonso Hernandez (C.D. Juarez; El Paso, Texas), Jerome Kiesewetter (VfB Stuttgart; Berlin, Germany), Jordan Morris (Stanford; Mercer Island, Wash.), Maki Tall (FC Sion; Washington, D.C.)

Maki Tall was a force at the U-20 till he got hurt. And Jordan Morris I think could make a case to start in a 4-4-2 on the USMNT. I have a feeling 2016 in Rio will be his coming out party for the big club. I am interested to see if Kiesewetter actually has skills, or if he's another Klinsmann project because he's a German national...much like Julian Green appeared to be. And speaking of...that he did not make this squad is a huge indictment of his talent, and really underscores the question, why was he on the 2014 WC squad? I mean, yeah, the Bundesliga is big cheese, but he's on basically their equivalent of Single-A baseball (4th division).

USA thumped Canaduh 3-1 in opener...Jordan Morris scored twice, first time on a beautiful cross from Kiesewetter...I guess he's not just on the squad because he's a Kraut!

Morris was clearly a class above everyone...and showed why I think he will be on the USMNT before too long.

Defense was shaky...shocker right? But as with most US teams, offense was the key...which works when you are playing the dregs of FIFA, but means little when you face a Ukraine, Germany, Serbia, etc.

Cuba up next...should be a victory..then Panama which won't matter as long as they win vs Cuba...they would have enough to win the group.

USA btf out of Cuba 6-1

Morris and Kiesewetter are just at a different level than everyone else on that squad...in fact, I see both making the WC rosters...they have to at this point. Both are showing young Landon Donovan type talent.

But offense has never been a problem with USMNT...it's always been defense.

Panama up next...win or tie, and they win the group and likely avoid Mexico until the finals. And as long as they get to the finals, they get an Olympic bid.

USA BTF out of Panama 4-0...but it was 0-0 at half...

Subbed in Jordan Morris and Jerome Kiesewetter, and the fireworks began. Within two minutes, the onslaught was evident.

Won the group, we play the loser of Mexico vs. Honduras on Saturday. Mexico likely favored...and they will be motivated to beat Honduras because it means they get to play a horrendous Canaduh squad in the semis.

Andi Herzog has done a great job with the U-23's...definite rising star...could see him coaching the MNT one day...he just sort of gets how to coach American players in a way Klinsmann appears to miss.

Altidore has become a liability...the dude is not fit, he's not in good form. We had chances...did not capitalize.

Back line has been a liability since JK took over.

Truth be told...let Mexico go get their head kicked in in the Confed Cup.

Howard shoulda been in between the pipes. I like Guzan, but this backline just doesn't play for $hit when he's in goal.
