For January 2016 camp...

GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Luis Robles (New York Red Bulls)

DEFENDERS (5): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Matt Miazga (New York Red Bulls), Eric Miller (Montreal Impact), Tim Parker (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Marc Pelosi (San Jose Earthquakes), Matt Polster (Chicago Fire),

MIDFIELDERS (11): Fatai Alashe (San Jose Earthquakes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Jermaine Jones
(Unattached), Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers), Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Tony Tchani (Columbus Crew
SC), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC)

FORWARDS (5): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Jerome Kiesewetter (VfB Stuttgart), Jordan Morris (Unattached), Khiry Shelton (New York City FC), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy), Ethan Finlay (Columbus Crew SC)

Kids in italics are going to be impact guys in the next 3-4 years. Morris and Kiesewetter may allow us to go with a 2 striker formation and be effective doing it.

On Friedel from ESPNFC:

On Monday, U.S. Soccer announced former national team goalkeeper Brad Friedel as coach of the program's U-19 side. Ex-Iran national team assistant (and onetime MLS defender) Omid Namazi is taking over the U-18s. Friedel's hire is particularly intriguing; the 44-year-old boasts unmatched experience having spent 18 seasons in England's Premier League -- his 310 consecutive starts remains an EPL record -- in addition to successful stints in MLS and with Turkish giant Galatasaray. He's also one of few Americans who hold a hard-to-get UEFA "A" coaching license. Friedel spent June with the U.S. team at the U-20 World Cup and also worked with members of Tottenham's academy (including American defender Cameron Carter-Vickers) before retiring as a Spurs player last spring.

This team has been regressing for at least a year now. I haven't seen such bad awareness as the US defenders displayed on Guatemala's second goal last night since my son was playing U9's. Simply hapless.

Klinsmann has played out like a lot of us feared. Fast talker who's a mile wide and an inch deep. Unlike his time helming Germany when he had Jogi Low doing all the real work he doesn't have or hasn't empowered a good support staff. Hasn't been a good man manager either IMO.

With the Copa America centennial here in the States this summer it's not likely Gulati would fire Klinsi until afterwards. Thinking about what the South American squads (with all their flaws) will do to the USMNT is not fun.

Top 2 out of the group qualify...

We are sitting 3rd, but we have 3 more games...T&T and Guat at home, then on the road vs. St. Vincent...plenty of time to win the group.

Top 6 teams advance to final round...top 3 of those qualify for WC, then 4th place plays a playoff vs. Asia for the final spot...let us hope it doesn't come to that.

Klinsmann needs to lay off the herb...dude recently told the media he expects his team to have a real shot at the semi-finals in Russia.

This team cannot beat Jamaica or Guatemala at this point.

He insists on picking the wrong guys for his squad...I like Jozy...but JFC...he's ALWAYS injured.

Mix Diskerud? He must have naked photos of JK with a horse. He's nothing more than a role player at best, yet he starts...a lot.

Gyasi Zardes? He's got great speed, but at 24, I'd like to start seeing something more from him than we've seen.

Playing Geoff Cameron at anything BUT CB is fail. The Yedlin to RW experiment should be over...he needs to be a RB.
