Newman is a rookie.  I'm sure he'll get better and be a starter but they can't let his development get in the way in the playoffs

Speaking of..  I'm not sure it's the right move to take Patrick out when Meyers comes back.   Especially if we are close the end of the season.   Patrick might not be as skilled, but he hasn't had mental errors and after X weeks he has a rapport with Rodgers.     I

Reinforcements...

On Whyte:

Whyte was the second of two running backs the Bears selected in the 2019 NFL draft behind David Montgomery in the third round, but he has received few opportunities to showcase his talents since coming into the league. At this point, the peak of Whyte’s young career was in November of his rookie season when the Pittsburgh Steelers signed him off the Bears’ practice squad while battling injuries and saw him gain 122 yards on 24 carries over six games of action. He also served as a kickoff returner.

Dude can also fly:

Whyte is a player with great speed. His pro day timed him at 4.36 in the 40 which would have made him the fastest RB at the Combine by a fairly wide margin. His athletic accolades don’t end there as he had a 11’ broad jump which would have been the best as a RB at the Combine.

Hoping that by being able to move Jenkins back to guard will help solidify the interior of our o-line, which IMHO, is the major factor in the offense not being what it was last season.

In my opinion, the best five from left to right would consist of this:

Bak, Runyan, Jenkins, Patrick, Turner.   Bak, Jenkins, Myers, Patrick/Runyon, Turner when Josh comes back.

Newman's young, let him learn and develop before putting him back in there if possible.  Jenkins was a heck of a center and someone who football pundits predicted would be a fixture there for years to come.  He's also played very well there.  Puts some more beef behind center and he has rapport with Rodgers.  Runyon seems to have been doing fine.  Patrick is our junkyard dog, more of a guard than center though he's been surprisingly good at center. Turner's been having a great year at RT.

I don't know if it's because of Newman but Patrick has had his share of shit plays too.  Patrick is a backup and backup only but he's still better than Newman at RG.

Meyers should get the start.  He showed nothing but good things.

Of course there was going to be in the first couple of weeks.  Rodgers skipping all off season programs, no snaps in game conditions because Rodgers doesn't play preseason games.   Yet it is the rookies fault.

So Packer fans have another Whyte running back to root for.

Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers downplayed the toe problem that landed him on the team's injury report.

During an appearance Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show, the nine-time Pro Bowler declined to specify how he hurt his toe. He said his injured appendage is "a little painful" but shouldn't cause any major problems going forward.

😳 😳 😳 what the heck is this about??  Sterling Sharp had a toe problem that bothered him ALL season…..

I don't remember specifics of Sharpe's toe, but I remember him being somewhat hobbled at times. If memory serves, he was unable to practice and pretty much gutted it out on game days.
CWood had a severe toe injury in recent history. I remember him having to 'modify' (cut open?) his cleats to accommodate the swelling and also being unable to practice.

@Vikings:  The #Vikings have activated S Harrison Smith from Reserve/COVID-19 and CB Patrick Peterson has been designated for return; return to practice.

So the Packers are “light” at LB regarding number available.  But they’re also “light” as far as size goes, especially at outside LB.  Aside from Preston, I think most of the other LBs are all in the 230 range.  Seems like the might need a little more beef ( not the guy). A couple of bigger guys on other teams practice squads are: Benardrick McKinney (NYG) and Vince Beigel (MIA).

Kickoff returner?

Guessing Gary is going to push hard to play Sunday. And guessing Rodgers coming off Covid is on vet rest.

When does Jaire have to be activated before being out for the season?

Is he on the IR but designated to return status like they had in previous years? I thought it was 2 players that could return at one point.

MN has been in most if not all of their games this year, so their 4-5 record is deceiving. They’ve just found a way to shit the bed during inopportune times. I don’t know if that’s a mark of a shitty team, or one on the verge of turning things around record wise and going on a run. I think this could be GB’s toughest game to date given that it’s a divisional game on the road. Cousins has looked good in the games I’ve seen, but even though he’s been running a bit more out of the pocket, he still looks like an absolute deformed vulva when under pressure.

I think GB absolutely needs to control the ball on offense by establishing the run game early with Dillon. Stick with it, as this has been the recipe for success the past 2 years up there. D needs to obviously stop Cook and make them one dimensional. If GB can get to Cousins with their front four, game over. If not I expect another nail bitter that can go either way. Just think GB is really in for a battle.

The thing that worries me is that MN has played neck and neck with some of the better teams in the league, ie. Dallas, AZ, Baltimore, etc.

Also saw Gary practiced today. Rodgers did not.

@RobDemovsky

Rashan Gary had a helmet and appeared to have an elbow brace under his long sleeves. Dafney and Gary also practiced.

Could be the toe injury or could be a rest day, but no sign of Aaron Rodgers at practice. No sign of David Bakhtiari, either. A couple others not practicing but present: Davante Adams, Allen Lazard. Other DNPs: Jones, M. Taylor. Rodgers still scheduled to talk today.

As long as you go on IR after the season begins you can come back after 3 or more games missed. This applies to every IR designation.
