Guys, just fyi: my story made it to the front page of NJ's largest newspaper last Sunday (see attachment) -- sharing the spotlight with Governor Christie.  LOL!  You can still vote daily until January 31, so again, much appreciate those of you doing so.  Go Pack!

Guys, one week to go with this contest (ends Jan 31).  Just want to say one more time, thanks for voting for me -- especially those of you who've done so daily.  Will find out late February who won.  Either way, this certainly has been a fun thing!  By the way, here's the full New Jersey Star Ledger article if you're interested.  Thanks again.

Son of a gun. He's in! Congratulations, Steve!

@WIsportscom: New Jersey's Steve Schumer, named "Green Bay" in HS, joins #Packers Fan HOF.

http://www.jrn.com/tmj4/wi-spo...68361.html

The Green Bay Packers have chosen a fan from the outskirts of New York City to become the 17th member of the team's Fan Hall of Fame.

Steve Schumer of Gillette, NJ was awarded the title by Packers President Mark Murphy at Lambeau Field on Tuesday.

Schumer will receive four club seats to a Packers home game next season; a $500 Packers Pro Shop gift certificate; a road trip for two to a 2015 Packers away game, including tickets, air fare and accomodations and a one year subscription to Packers Plus magazine.

His name will also be added on a plaque in the Packers Hall of Fame.

[Nice jacket, BTW! And even better tie.]

Packdog, your comment inspired me to reach out to NJ-based media and see if I could get "equal time."  I thought it was a long shot.  But I was totally surprised when the largest paper in NJ let me know yesterday they found my story interesting, and interviewed me for it today.  Will be published shortly.  Will share link to story soon as I get it.  So thank you for your inspiration!

Wow, congrats !

Amazed that you  won. What was your secret ??

Pretty sure if the Hall of Fame had seen me representing the GBP while going to high school in Minnesota, I'd be in. It's ok though, I don't need the official recognition to know I'm the best.

Congrats though.

Very cool. Happy for you Steve. Your resume is impressive though. Driving to DC for that preseason game, checking in to the motel to watch the game on local tv, and checking out that same night afterwards has been a story of greatness amongst my legion. Let us know how the award ceremony went.

Blair Kiel.

If nominated I will not run and if elected, I will not serve.

BTW Steve, huge congrats----I've did some petty extreme things to follow the Packe pre-internet/Sunday Ticket, but you my friend, earned it!

Hey guys, I just got home from Green Bay.  I think I'm still in disbelief.  What an incredible day there yesterday for me and my son Adam.  Announced by Mark Murphy, walked through the players' tunnel chatting the whole way with him, ending up down on the field, and it couldn't have been more surreal -- as Lambeau was covered with a blanket of snow.  One last time, thank you all again for helping make this dream come true.  You guys are the best!

Very elequantly said Steve, and props to you AND your son. It's our effect on others that we'll be remembered by.

After watching that I wonder if you can coach Special Teams?

Well done, Steve.

Funny coincidence, that 1970s Packer preseason game against the Redskins you mention is the first Packer game I ever went to. It was 1978 and I remember it well, it was at RFK and I spent most of the game watching James Lofton, freshly minted first round pick. My former college roommate, originally from South Dakota and likewise a rabid GB fan, drove down from Pennsylvania to meet up in DC where I was doing a summer internship. We parked about a mile from the stadium in NE DC (which at the time was by far the toughest area of town) and when we got back to the car after the game, voila, it had been broken into. Couple of small town rubes learning the hard way.

You nailed everything about the out of state fan experience in the pre-cable, pre-Internet days. Nice to see the team paying homage to we expatriates through your selection.
