Steve.
Just awesome.
Not to be snarky, but in looking at the competition, perhaps you won because you were the only nose-breather nominated?

Steve, congrats man, well deserved. Great speech too. Growing up in PA in the 70s and 80s was pretty much the same story. When you speak of getting to see the Pack on tv once or maybe twice a year....I can totally relate. It WAS surreal. Just seeing the uniforms and stadium on tv was such a breathtaking moment in my childhood.
There's also a badge of honor with our generation of Packer fans, in that we missed the Glory Years, suffered through those struggling decades, and it was all vindicated starting in 1992.
It's also a proud moment for all of us on the board that one of our brothers was bestowed such a great honor. Kudos, friend!
Tavis Smiley: Nicely said about our effect on others is what we'll be remembered by.
Hungry5: Too funny!
The Heckler: My breakdown is in the works!
Iowacheese: Thanks man!
cuqui: Amazing coincidence! Thanks for sharing that story!
The Ref fka Blair Kiel: Thanks. And you also are too funny!
artis: Thanks so much, and love how we relate. So well said!
cuqui, FWIW, in checking the Packers pre-season history, I realized the story I've been telling about driving from NJ down to Washington D.C. (alone) to watch a Packers/Redskins pre-season game on TV in some motel there was August 27, 1977 (a 13-9 loss in Milwaukee). But the following year -- the pre-season Packers/Redskins game in Washington D.C. you went to -- was August 11, 1978 (a 20-12 loss). I drove down for that as well, alone, attended that game and drove home later that night. Sorry to hear about your car being broken into. More sorry I didn't meet you back then!
Same here, Steve! Maybe we bumped into each other somehow. I also have a vague memory of it raining like hell after the game which made dealing with our car incident even more grating. Could be mistaken though, a lot of lost evenings at that point of my wayward youth.
I do remember the Packers lost the game I went to, but it didn't matter. Seeing the Green and Gold for the first time in person, even though it was during the Dark Years, was so fricking awesome. As was/is your dedication to the Packers.

That's awesome !
BTW - Do you have the $ 50 I loaned you that one time ?
Was it a band camp?
That money got blown.
Hey guys, some of you said you saw me on ESPN this morning. I have yet to see, but yes, trying to represent X4! So my 15 minutes of fame for this Packer Fan Hall of Fame deal has gone to 20. LOL. I was in Green Bay last weekend for the Seahawks game and the ESPN crew interviewed me while there. Great group of guys. Attaching a few photos. Reece is the ESPN reporter in the cheesehead, taken at Brett Favre's Steakhouse. Great weekend, great win, just like last night.
Here you go!
ESPN Fan Correspondent: How do you become a Packers fan?
Good stuff.
Very cool. Love the Leinie-girls Oktoberfest photos.
Awesome!
