Lovie say's yesterday's game with the Packers was not a must win game.
Apparently this weeks game is "must win". That's pretty weak.
Did you see when Crosby went to hug Rodgers.....he missed way right, then bounced off Rodgers shoulder the next time.
quote:Clay Matthews plays on the online? Oh wait! I forgot the last three beat downs by the Giants is because Matthews wasn't playing.
maybe not. but it wasn't because they're that much better of a team than we are.
I don't know that they are "that much better of a team than we are" but they clearly are a matchup nighmare for us.
Any word on Justin Smith yet? That Niner D didn't look so tough in the 2nd half without him.
Niners (Harbaugh) are always quiet when it comes to injuries. It's been radio silent today on Smith. I didn't realize he went back in the game for a few plays then shut himself down becasue "my arm wasn't responding".
Back to the locker room video. Crosby looked like he wanted nothing to do with celebrating anything.

Meh. I'll take the Falcons. No interest in seeing the Niners. They represent a terrible matchup for us. If you were to construct a team to beat this Packers team, it would almost mirror the 2012 49ers: rock solid defense; ability to put intense pressure on the QB without havint to commit much to the blitz; solid offensive line that is good in the pass and run; tough rushing attack that can control time of possession; and now, a mobile QB that can pass. No thanks. If someone else takes them out, I won't lose any sleep.
The Packers/Giants game this year was one of those games where everything just snowballed. It happens to different teams every week. Look at the Patriots last night. They were down 31-3 to the 49ers before they even knew what was going on. They only lost 41-34, but really, they got dominated except for playing arena ball against a prevent defense the whole second half.
This is a 49er team that lost to the Rams 16-13 just 2 weeks ago, and a Patriots team that demolished Houston 42-14 last week, who beat the Colts 29-17 yesterday. Go figure. No I mean really, look at those scores and try to figure it out. You can't.
Look at the Falcons. Last week, they lost to the Panthers 30-20. Yesterday, they destroyed the Giants 34-0, who just one week before dismantled the Saints 52-27, but who 2 weeks ago lost to the Redskins 17-16. Feel like betting on the Falcons? Or the Giants, who seem to be a different team every week?
Afraid of playing the Niners? Why? They lost to the Vikings, who we beat no problem, and they couldn't even beat St. Louis once in 2 tries this year.
It is a whacky and unpredictable year in the NFL folks. It won't matter who we or anyone else plays, it is likely going to stay that way.

I've always seen football as a game of matchups, and we don't match up well against the Niners. Just like we don't match up well against the Giants.
What is the common theme there? We struggle against teams with great defensive lines.
Maybe I'm just overly concerned, but I don't want to see either of those teams in the playoffs.

I hear ya barrister. I prefer:
We struggled in 2 games against teams with good DLs. Past tense. 2 games.
We beat other teams with good DLs. It may feel like a trend, but look around the League once. Trends are hard to come by.

Texans anyone?
Bottom line is nobody knows schyt.
But it keeps this board busy.
I'll obviously put Watt up against any defensive lineman in the league, but as a collective group, San Fran and NYG have better DL units.

Ok, That's my new campaign then....
I want the Giants & 49'ers. Yes they're better in the trenches than us. Yes the Giants beat us the last 2 times but some people conveniently forget the Blacque Jacque Shellacque-ing the Giants took from us in Dec. of 2010.
In 2010 & Jan of 2011 after we defeated the Falcons, I said I wanted the Bears in the NFC Championship game & the Steelers in the Super Bowl.
Wasn't it great?
I want the Giants & 49'ers!! Who's with me?
I'm with you bossman! To be da best you have to beat da best! F*** cowering!!! Let's be mean and green and get some pay back - wouldn't that make this year even sweeter?

Better to be a pitcher than a catcher!
Not afraid of the Niners or Giants. If you get up early on the Gmen, they can't play their game. Niners, I think MM will gameplan better this time...
Not starting Bush at CB is a better gameplan.
Ding. Fries are done.

Seattle has some gnarly payback coming too.
Actually, having played Seattle, SF and NY this season, and losing, gives us an advantage on all of them.
