Overstated. You believe anything that guys says? Nobody "wants" to play there in January but the effects are greatly reduced with an empty stadium. But again, if it's around freezing it really won't matter much. Below zero, that's another story.

I think they have to. I don't know if the game plan they ran against the Texans is going to work against speedy LBs but if they can actually get the run game going and accountable I think they can go up against any defense. Starting oline is necessary of course.

If you can get the Bucs on a sloppy or slick field you will negate some of that speed on defense. Not to mention the cold weather impact.

I mean, we’ve all watched enough GB games at Lambeau Field late in the year and in the playoffs to know it matters. Having fans would be even better, but unless an opposing team actually practices on that surface (which ain’t frozen BTW) it’s a distinct advantage to GB. Why? The Packers know what to expect. They know where the slick spots are. They know what size cleats to wear. More importantly on offense they know where to break and cut. In addition, guys like Crosby know how the wind blows and how to kick in those (likely) shit conditions.
Now, I will say that for a team like the Packers with an experienced QB without having noise and fans to contend with it’s an advantage going on the road as well. But of course they would prefer not to travel and play in their own stadium. The MLF Packers haven’t done so well travelling to either coast.

I agree that playing at Lambeau typically gives the Pack an advantage in colder weather. I believe the turf there in cold months slows down pass rushers a bit which gives Rodgers the extra time he needs to execute.
It doesn’t make them unbeatable as Philly showed last year and the Giants showed in 2011, but Rodgers typically operates well in the cold if he’s getting halfway decent protection. I’d much rather play Seattle, San Fran, or Tampa at Lambeau than on the road, that is for damn sure.
If the game is in TB, there will be a full house. Everything is allowed to be wide open down here, and they will pack them in.

Playing at home is ALWAYS an advantage, regardless of any other factor(s).
The best advantage I can think of is when a West Coast team ( *cough* cough* Seahawks, 49ers) has to go to Lambeau; they not only lose time to travel, but they lose time crossing the time zones.
Another hope is the colder the environment, the more fans are allowed to attend
Perhaps an advantage to Northern teams that play outdoors?

I'll always attribute that loss to the Giants to the collective, somber mindset of the team after the tragic death of Joe Philbin's son. That team was unstoppable, with the exception of the KC game.
It surely matters. But matters little this year if it's not sub zero.
