Snacks was at Lambeau in January for a playoff game when the Packers smacked the Gnats. I was hoping he'd choose the winning team after that 38-13 embarrassment
Initial indications are that Christian Kirksey’s shoulder injury could keep him out of a few games, a source told ESPN. It’s not season-ending and surgery doesn’t appear necessary, but he’s going to miss some time. Best case is he's out this week for Monday Night Football and then could return after the bye, but it may be a little longer than that.

They already did. There's 7 per conference this year so it's completely possible to have an entire division make the playoffs. Also, only the #1 seed gets a bye this year. #2 seed will host #7 in the WC round.
Also for everyone wondering what's up with the Smith's, look no further than Kenny Clark. That guy eats up at least two blockers nearly every play. The Smith's are facing more tackles and more double teams compared to 2019. Get Clark back out there and the rest of the front 7 have easier jobs.
Preston is a little concerning though as he started to disappear late last year.

North Illinois is usually a few degrees warmer than GB. And Chicago proper is consistently 5° higher than the outlying suburbs (where I live) due to the lake/heat island effect. Regardless, you ain't eating your Christmas dinner al fresco in Green Bay or Chicago.
There are valid reasons for not living in Green Bay besides the cold. He knows what small town midwest is like. Green Bay resembles Oskaloosa Iowa much more than it does NYC or Detroit.

I haven’t noticed that. Preston simply isn’t winning and Z is only lining up as an edge half the time.
Losing Gary yesterday hurt. Hopefully they'll keep Keke out there more often and also get Wagner back at RT.
First team in NFL history to score 35+ points in the 1st three games with NO turnovers. Also the 1st time in history the team has zero turnovers in their 1st 3 games.
I love how Rodgers completed a 50 yard pass to Lazard as soon as the announcers started talking about Love being drafted in the first round.
I just hope Mr. Love can EVER be as fantastic as his, I hope mentor.
Looks like Snacks is going to Seattle first, Chicago second

That first visit would be with the Seattle Seahawks, which he’s scheduled to meet with next week. But it sounds like the Bears will have a chance to woo Harrison to this defense.
If he was ever going to come to Green Bay it would've been when KC was out.
Whatever....He ain't Aaron Donald FFS....Who cares....Moving on....

Renting players does work. Was Howard Green one of those? Pretty sure Grady Jackson was. Still, I'm wary of guys who are content to sit out the beginning of seasons and wait for the right bidder. Most times the team investing gets a player who's not quite invested.

How hard can it be to knit him a pair of knee cozies?
Had a brief thought that GB really fucked up letting Blake Martinez walk...until I saw him play the 49ers...

Blake Martinez #54 😳 pic.twitter.com/YHZsa2hp4n
Misreads the screen and then even less awareness chasing. Yup, sounds like Martinez except he didn’t get credit for a tackle on the play.
Martinez was what you hope to get out of a 4th round pick - 3+ years of competent starting ILB play at near league minimum salary. But as soon as the salary demands spike, he's no longer worth it. And Gute nailed it by letting him walk.
Glad Martinez got paid. Seems like a good dude. Just glad he didn't get paid by GB.
100% right CU. Nothing against BM, we certainly got our money’s worth out of him and we will likely get a comp pick for him as well. It is shocking and surprising how difficult it seems to be for GB to solve ILB issues though.
I think what I like about Ty Summers compared to other ILBs in GB past/present is that he pulls the trigger and attacks. He’s not catching like Hawk/Martinez, he’s going for it. He misses, which isn’t great, but I’d rather a player miss big like that because a % of the time he won’t miss and that’s when you get impact plays.

Since our run defense seemed to better in the 2nd half of the game I decided to focus on those plays to see what went right instead of being a pessimist and looking at how we failed in the 1st half. The biggest thing I noticed is we dropped the exotic looks and went with more standard 3-4 on 1st and 10. This led to more pass attempts on early downs and better results via the run. Below is a gif of every run play in the 2nd half, enjoy.
Summary, we did really well. Moving to traditional 3-4, having success with that, and the score of the game led to us only facing 6 runs in the 2nd half.
3rd Quarter
FIRST DRIVE
1st play of drive , 1st n 10
Pack in 3-4, Keke penetrates, Summers fills the hole, and Lancaster sheds to make the tackle with Barnes. Well done.
https://imgur.com/bmvvEA2
2nd play of drive, 2nd n 7
Pack is in traditional nickle now after decent run stop on 1st down. 3DL and a ILB is replaced by a DB. Amos is up at the LOS. All DL get a stalemate, Summers fills the intended hole, RB bounces to other side and Amos fills that hole. Well done, setting up a 3rd n 3.
https://imgur.com/XaZoUUI
6th play of drive, 2nd n 2
Pack in 3-4. Lowry wins his 1 on 1 and Summers fills for the no gain stop. Well done.
https://imgur.com/VYRjYCl
7th play of drive, 3rd n 2
Pack in 3-4. DL holds up alright, LB’s are there, King comes off the edge, but the back powers through for the 1st down. Not bad, Barnes could have been better.
https://imgur.com/54LIs79
9th play of drive, 1st n 10
Pack in 3-4. Adam penetrates, P Smith and Keke hold the edge, and Barnes shoots the gap, beating the guard coming out to get him, and makes the play. Well done.
https://imgur.com/UfbwuY6
Drive results in FG.
SECOND DRIVE
2nd play of drive, 1st n 10
Pack in dime with only 2 DL and 2 ILB. (4-2 front). Lancaster wins his 1 on 1, penetrates, and Savage is coming in free on a blitz. Summers avoids the guard and assists on the tackle. Well done.
https://imgur.com/AmGweGA
Drive Results in TD (The Kamara play)
4th quarter
3rd Drive – No runs, this is the Hill fumble, Smith sack drive. Only 2 plays.
4th Drive – No runs, 3 and out.
5th Drive – 2 mins left in game, no runs. Results in FG.
...adding to the post above. I didn't notice any glaring mistakes by the ILB's, save for the Kamara play which I have now removed from my memory, in pass coverage either. Barnes and Summers had a good 2nd half all around.
I concur on Barnes and Summers and think going forward they CAN improve.... Summers in particular has potential. Burks, no sorry.
We were better with 3 interior defensive lineman. Without Clark we had no chance to stop the run by only playing 2 unless we guessed right and run blitzed.
Okay... Here are all the first half runs. My conclusion is that Barnes / Summers are the best ILB tandem that we have. They come down hill. Maybe it was a bad game for Kirksey, but he didn't look good. Also, enough with moving Z around the line. Put him on the edge where he belongs.
..and if I see Oren Burks at OLB again, I'm official off the Angry Bald Man wagon.
1st Quarter
FIRST DRIVE
1rst n 10
Pack with 5LB’s on the field and 2 DL. Ends up looking like a 3-4 front with Z as a DE. Smith gets doubled, Lancaster gets handled and Kirksey is a little slow to fill. 5 yard gain.
https://imgur.com/S69t67g
2nd n 5
Pack with 2 DL, 3LB and 6DB. (Dime). They bring up Redmond to make a 6 man box. Savage blitzes and disrupts the run. Smith does a great job of fighting through the double for the stop.
https://imgur.com/FEmNEKr
Drive Results – Punt for a 3 and out.
SECOND DRIVE
1rst n 10
Pack with 2 DL, 3LB and 6DB. (Dime) They bring up Redmond to make a 6 man box. Smith doesn’t hold the edge, both 2nd level guys get blocked and it’s 7 yards before the back is touched.
https://imgur.com/dYu67xK
1rst n 10
Pack with 2 DL, 3LB and 6DB. (Dime) They bring up Redmond to make a 6 man box. Smith gives up the edge, Redmond gets taken out by the TE, and Kirksey gets sucked up into the middle. That leaves Kamara 1 on 1 vs Amos 15 yards down field with a full sprint head start. Not good. Huge gain for the Saints.
https://imgur.com/JxxipPt
1st n 10
Pack in traditional 3-4. Lowry gets doubled, P Smith gets chipped by the TE and can’t get close down in times. Guard doubling Lowry comes off to get Kirksey, and the RB is in the 3rd level again.
https://imgur.com/kR2nW24
Drive Results – TD pass to Kamara
3rd Quarter
THIRD DRIVE
1rst n 10
Pack with 4LB’s on the field and 2 DL. 3 of the OLB’s are at the LOS and Amos moves up into the box as well. The DL get pushed back and Gary goes unblocked, it’s a read option, to come off the edge to make the tackle for a 3 yard gain. Good play by Gary.
https://imgur.com/AKasJlm
Drive Results – Punt, 3 n out caused by Keke Sack.
FOURTH DRIVE
1rst n 10
Pack with 3DL and 3LB’s. Amos in the box. Lowry wins against a TE and completely disrupts the play. P Smith is unblocked and makes the tackle.
https://imgur.com/h7jod1S
1rst n 10
Pack in traditional 3-4 but have Burks at OLB? Burks and Lowry get doubled. Guard comes off Lowry and absolutely destroys Kirksey. Flap Jacked. Another Saint RB in the 3rd level.
https://imgur.com/UDG4TCZ
1rst n 10
Pack in traditional 3-4 but have Burks at OLB again? Saints run at him and he gives up the edge, Kirksey does a decent job flowing and it’s a 4 yard gain.
https://imgur.com/Xi947Xx
1rst n 10
Pack with 2 DL and 4 LB. Z lined up over the nose and Burks at OLB again. Amos and Sulivan in the box. Predictably, Burks and Sullivan get collapsed in and Saints back gets out the side and in the 3rd level.
https://imgur.com/HlpvPbS
2nd n 2
Pack in traditional 3-4. Summers in for Kirksey and P Smith in for Burks at OLB. Summers reads the play well and makes the tackle with Barnes for a 4 yard gain.
https://imgur.com/bMAHdxj
Drive Results – Saints passed 3 more times and forced into a FG attempt.
FIFTH DRIVE
Drive Results – No runs because it was a 2 min scenario.
Thanks for doing these. Good stuff.
" Can Brees throw a pass farther than 20 yards? "
On his 3 longest completions, (the one before Kamara's walk through the Pack and 2 down the middle during their last drive) the receivers had to go to the ground to catch. If he hits either of those last 2 guys in stride, with the Packers' tackling...

It looks like Burks does his job here. He occupies multiple blockers and strings the play out, filtering to an untouched defender, Alexander, who then whiffs. Jaire went full Deion Sunday Night on more plays than this. He was like Burnett on Kaepernick: not filling and tackling like he should have. Remember that gods-awful attempt to tackle Kamara on that long run? Kamara isn't a big back, it isn't like asking Alexander to take on Derrick Henry, but it looks like Jaire thought Kamara was Okoye.
Any defensive scheme that is designed to get your premier pass coverage CB in a hole 1 on 1 with a RB is a bad scheme. I don’t think that was the intention.

Defense giving up 6.6 yards per play. Last in the NFL.
Number is partially inflated because the Packers have had big leads, so they've been given up yardage late while the milk the clock.
I don’t think that’s the whole story. They’ve gotten chunked a lot so far. Until the line can start controlling the LOS, they’re going to have this kind of trouble.
That’s why I stated partially inflated, not the only reason is.....
Partially inflated. . .
