Im going to say 28-30 mil contract, 7-8 million average per year. 4 year deal. 12-14 of that guaranteed. More if he hit's certain goals.

Either way, ProFootballTalk.com reported today that Jennings is shooting for a deal in free agency that averages $12 million a year. Based on average pay per year, Detroit’s Calvin Johnson is the league’s highest-paid receiver $16.5 million, followed by Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald at $15 million and Tampa Bay’s Vincent Jackson at $11 million

He wants to be the third highest paid WR in the NFL. That won't happen.

So what do you think he'll get?

8m/year for the first 3 years, 15m guaranteed. Maybe an un-guaranteed fourth year with artificially inflated salary, for media bragging rights about a fictitious yearly average salary. I think that would be important to Jennings, even if he knows that yearly average is fictitious. He would like it if the media reported him as one of the highest paid receivers in the league.
He'll get about what the Packers told him he'll get, but less than his agent promised

In the end, both parties will be worse off separate than they were together and they'll both say "Its just business..."

Lather, rinse, repeat and the only real winners in this groundhogs day dance are the agents.
don't care, TT is movin on ... thats good enough for me.

imo, greg jennings didn't play a lot of the season because greg jennings wanted to be ready for his day coming up ...

not crocshot boy bad, but it tends to make you solidify your allegiance to the franchise as a fan.

jmo.
Before last year, I was convinced Vincent Jackson's 5/$55/$26 was the starting point. They're the same age, and Greg's had a little more production in his career. Not to mention, contracts haven't been known to get smaller year to year.

But I do think there are some legit injury concerns hanging over Jennings, in addition to the tight cap affecting everyone. I think something like 4/$35/$16 will be closer to what he ends up pulling down.
Wow.

@adbrandt
Vincent Jackson level. RT @JasonLaCanfora: Dwayne Bowe's 5 yr deal with KC is worth $56M with $26M guaranteed.

I think Bowe is only a year younger than Jennings, and while they are different (types of) WRs, this certainly gives Jennings and his agent a market amount to work with.

That is the key to me.

Calvin Johnson, Fitzgerald, Jackson, even Bowe....those are big WR that can put their hand up and catch the ball no matter how they are covered or how accurate the ball is thrown.

I think it takes a much better QB to get the most potential out of a Greg Jennings type WR.

We may find out how much of his success was due to the QB he played with.

spot on....see this is why I love you
Dude is not worth $12 million per year, like his agent says he's asking for. I think he deserves what he was making last season.

The salary cap hasn't really budged since last season, therefore, he doesn't deserve more dollars per season.

If anything, an argument can be made that he deserves less, since his production dropped and his recent injuries inject doubt regarding his ability to stay healthy.

Anyone who pays him significantly more than he made in 2012 is an idiot.
Without a Rodgers or a Brady throwing to GJ, he's only a very good receiver. He is losing his ability to get a lot of separation, therefore, he needs an extremely accurate passer who can also throw the back-shoulder fade. Anyone see a whole bunch of them around? Nope, didn't think so. The current flavor-of-the-month option QB doesn't help Jennings' cause, either.

I don't think GJ should buy that Shaq-type mansion just yet.

Indeed.

And the guy calling plays and designing the offense as well. We know you don't love MM as much as your hero Belichick, but McCarthy's role in Jennings' ascension under two different QBs is worth noting. Jennings played inside, outside and in motion to help him beat the defenses. Together, they made Polamalu and LeBeau look bad in the SB, no easy task.

Greg Jennings will not enjoy that level of success ever again....but he'll have enough for 3 ferrari's instead of 2 so he's got that going for him. Congrats
Great point about MM's offense, where it was not unusual for 7,8 or more receivers to catch passes in a game. making the defense worry about multiple weapons.

IMO, Jennings is not suited for an offense where he is designed to be a Calvin Johnson or Fitzgerald type focal point. Thus he is not worth that type of money.

I hate it when some idiots (yeah YOU Andy Reid/John Dorsey) throw off the market with contracts like this. Bowe is not a rare talent and KC has had problems with him. Guys like Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald are rare talents and deserve to be the highest paid players, Dwayne Bowe and Vincent Jackson are very good players, but they don't deserve to be paid like that. Jennings doesn't either. Now the market is skewed and other teams will either lose a good player they know isn't worth that coin or they will keep that player and hurt their salary cap.
Market value is no longer set by one's peers at the position. It's set by the year you hit free agency and whether or not the team wants to keep you. You don't have to be better than the top guys at your position, you have to seem like a better option than the team not having you.

If Flacco's deal got everyone hot and bothered, just wait to see what Matt Ryan gets.
I'm not saying he'll make more than Flacco, but he'll make far more than he deserves without at least the ring leverage Flacco had.

The sad thing is, I believe he will actually be in Flacco's neighborhood.
@jasonjwilde
@adbrandt Best educated guess on what @GregJennings gets, Andrew?

@adbrandt
@jasonjwilde tough one, depends on # of bidders, market range is 24-26M guaranteed, know he/Eugene will try to top that.

Just don't see him getting close to what Bowe got.

I can't figure out how Bowe got what he got. Not a big fan of that guy. My impression is that he's always had real questionable work habits.

Sources close to the situation laughed so hard they pooped a little at the notion of Jennings signing a 3yr/$9M deal.

If only you were black Satori.
Not happening. Jennings had Favre as buddy and his wife wants out of GB. Home already on the market.

I didn't know you knew his wife.

Seems to me "wants out of GB" was the talk before the last extension.
