Rodgers has clearly not been himself this year and he is taking shots from a number of critics as he has failed to live up to his own standards.  Hard to tell at this point if his play has been influenced by injuries, lack of confidence in his OL, poor relationship with MM, losing a safety net like Jordy, or just an age-related decline in ability.  My belief/concern is that the broken collarbone has impacted his mechanics, either from the injury itself, or a reduced range of motion in his shoulder due to the inactivity that followed his injury.

All that aside, I am hoping that he rebounds in a big way next year and would never advocate from moving on from him at this point....but.....I am just curious as to what it would take for the Packers to consider a trade.  Mike Ditka gave up his entire draft for Ricky Williams, and I don't even have to mention what the Packers gave up for John Hadl.  So....what would you want in return for Rodgers?  Three firsts?  Two firsts and a second?  An entire draft?

I'd probably want the Herschel Walker deal back for Rodgers.  Truth is, after this year, nobody watching him would pay that price.  Brett Favre ended up netting just a 3rd rounder and that was after getting his team to an NFC Championship game.  That said, part of the reason for the low price for Favre was that everyone knew the Pack had to jettison him due to the poisonous atmosphere that surrounded his retirement/non-retirement tactics.

I don't think the Packers would trade AR anytime soon I just dont think they will.  But, I will play along.  To make it happen I think it would have to be an AFC team (you really shouldn't trade him in conference) who would give up the farm to get him.  You would have to get him to an AFC team because we all know what an Rodgers with a chip on his shoulder could do.

Also, only a  3rd round pick wouldn't even be a conversation starter for AR in my book.   To me it would take a Walker type of trade with 2 first rounders at a minimum.

It if kind of funny to me and shows how spoiled we are when it is brought up that you trade a QB who so far has thrown for just under 4,000 yards 23 TDs and only 2 INTs.  The key stat IMHO for AR is the amount of hits and sacks he has taken.  He has been sacked 44 times so far this year.  Sure I think we could say he holds the ball too long but also he has to wait for someone to get open while working behind OL like Spriggs and the Stooges they have trotted out at RG.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but if the Packers rebuild the right side of the line,  have some receivers who get open,  and really commit to the running game mark my words he will bounce back and I am willing to say in a way that is Drew Brees like.

Rodgers isn't going anywhere despite mine or anyone else's speculation.  Get healthy, get an oline, win games.

I'll play, how many teams would want him.   At a big price. Not trying to be funny but think about it.  Go through the list of teams,  some have young guys who have lots of potential, some have vets that are just fine and some are overinvested in qbs and could not afford it.  My list would be, Jax, NYG, Cinci maybe Tenn and Buffalo.   Oh, and a guy up in the Northeast may be done.  Feel free to add more.

Add to that he is 35 and been banged up a bit.

But in truth, he is going nowhere.

Oh, I know he is going nowhere, nor do I want him to.  Was just interested in seeing what others saw as the price that a team might pay.

Triple that. I don't think enough people on this board watched games with these guys starting at QB for the Packers: Randy Wright, Anthony Dilweg, Mike Tomczak, Rich Campbell, John Hadl, Jerry Tagge, Scott Hunter, and David Whitehurst.

If you are an NFC North fan which starting QB do you want in our division. It's not even close.

The transition would be seamless from Rodgers to a guy who has a career completion percentage of 53.6% with 11 TDs and 23 Interceptions? Are you fukking kidding me? Rodgers is at 61.8% this year and people are concerned? Kizer? Really? This is not Joe Montana to Steve Young.

This is crazy. I've been as critical of Rodgers as anyone, but you can point to exactly the reasons why he's had a down year (by his standards). They came into this season with the hardest schedule in the NFL, he's had an injury that likely has fukked with his mechanics, undwhelming execution from his OL and skill positions (aside from Aaron Jones), and really just an offense that never could find an identity because of all of the previously mentioned issues. Sure you can pin issues to him and I think even he would agree he deserves to get criticism when he doesn't play well, but context is incredibly important in this instance. He's not 2015 Peyton Manning who just hit a wall, probably more like 2014 Drew Brees...just a shit year that didn't go our way. Rodgers will regroup with the new coach and come out on fire next year. No doubt in my mind. Actually it's kind of nice he's getting all of this public criticism, he's going to turn it into fuel to go out and win a fukking Super Bowl and an MVP in 2019.

I second what Henry said. Let's get an offensive line. Look at New Orleans.

The Saints started to have OL injury problems in the last few weeks. All of sudden Drew Brees has thrown for a total of 531 yards with 2 TDs and 3 INTs in the last 3 games.

Before the injuries hit, he threw for 29 TDs and 2 INTs. Brees played 4 games in a row without getting sacked on 114 drop backs earlier this year. He's looked terrible in stretches the last 3 games. The Pick 2 last night was Favrian.

It's almost impossible to trade him

  1.  A team has to be able to handle that contract (Cap Space)
  2. They would have to give up a boatload of draft picks/players
  3. Why would any team mortgage the future & have a Hall of Fame QB with possibly not much else around him?

Only way it's even feasible is if a team has everything else in place & ONLY needs a QB.

I can think of 2 teams in the NFC North that might work for. Jax LAST year. Pretty much it.

As long as we are playing.....

Should have traded him 2 years ago, could have acquired a lot more then than now.  2 years ago the market would have been huge for him. A good GM and scouting staff  would have the Oline solidified, picked up a safety and pass rusher, been out of a massive QB contract and possibly had Mahomes.  Note, I said good GM and scouting staff.  The Pack has won 12 games the last 2 years with him on the roster.  It's always better to make a move a year or two early than a year or two late.

Of course the above would require a good GM with a big set of nuts, a coaching staff up to the task and a understanding fan base.

Just playing along and having some fun.

The Eeyore part of me says the talent is so depleted, no way Green Bay can compete for it all next year.  The year after that at the earliest.  So in two years, Rodgers is 37.  What if part of the problem is regression due to age that is accelerated due to injury?  I am uncertain he is elite at 38.

In other words, we could possibly be talking a one year window.

All the more reason to build half a moat of an OL around him.  You don't see him doing what Brady has been doing for the last 5 years?  He'd be better.  Brady even said as much.

The gaggles of "degenerative arm" comments need to rewind the tape and review the long darts he's put on dimes this year.  Not as many as previous years but that's part and parcel of the whole offense not being like it was in previous years.

Yeah, it's not his arm.  You trying throwing on a plant leg with a ****ed up knee.  That's where your technique argument comes in as well.  Rodgers played out the season with a gimped knee.  Not some huge achievement overall but coupled with a god awful Oline, rookie receivers and what you get is the whole offense, himself included, looking like shit.

The knee injury wasn't to his plant leg. It was to his left leg.

I think it is more in his head than anything. 1st game against Chicago his leg had to hurt a hell of lot more than it did last week and week one he was money in the 2nd half. This past sunday he could not hit anyone. And the pass rush looked better for chicago week one than it did last week. Aarons got the yips...Tell him to go see Chuck Knobloch or Rick Ankiel for counselling.

It's hard to believe, but this was less than a month ago. His arm is fine.

This pass put them up 14-3 on the Seahawks when their record was 4-4-1.

The likelihood of Rodgers being traded is almost nil or zero.  I was not able to see the Packers Bears came, but listened to most all of it.  Even Wayne and Larry were making some observations about some of the missed opportunities.  My hunch is that after the season is over some news will come out about why Rodgers was so unimpressive at certain periods of the games this season.

I have wondered if he incurred a minor injury to his repaired collarbone which in turn intermittently aggravates his throwing motion.  It's quite possible that there could be an issue and consequently certain motions bother him and his mechanics.  Also, Rodgers is the most visible player so it is natural that his mistakes loom large in a game.  Truth is the entire team is playing substandard.  But Rodgers is the "lightning rod"...and deservedly so in some regards.

I think next season we may see a kinder and gentler AR.  Also, I think the entire NFL is an underperforming collection of self-centered hot shots more interested in "me" than "we'.  Not saying Rodgers falls into that category...yet

Well, time for bed.  Glad I am not losing any sleep over this season.  My guess/hope Rodgers will rebound and have a record year in 2019.

Henry, you are spot on with this one.  AR had a disaster of an OL to play behind, rookie WR's everywhere, a sub standard lineup at TE, and yes not to mention a jacked up knee on his plant leg.  All of that leads to a crappy year by his standards are he still has thrown for 4,000 yards, 23 TD, and the 2 INTs he has had where tipped balls.  I will say it and I don't care Packers fans are becoming spoiiled rotten babies something I never thought I would say in my lifetime.
