Good stuff written here.

I certainly think Johnny has lots of problems, some probably created by family and/or culture.

I only wanted to give the father a break on the addiction thing.  Even if they had done everything right as parents (doesn't sound like they did) Johnny could still have ended up an addict.  And professional help is the only hope to get that fixed.  Dad can't fix that.

Most guys coming into the NFL don't have the money to do what their whims might want them to do - Johnny does.  When you have never been told "no", it is difficult to submit to any authority figure - including coaches.  This condition is very difficult to correct.

For most it is the money and game that attracts "hungry" players and in the process, they find out how to be good adults.

and here we go again....

Dallas police: Johnny Manziel reports hit-and-run crash
6/22/2016 11:25:17 AM

Police in Dallas say troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel reported a hit-and-run accident earlier this week, the Associated Press reports. The publicist for the former Texas A&M star says he wasn't seriously injured.

Senior Cpl. DeMarquis Black said the accident happened Monday night, and Manziel had a witness from his vehicle and an impartial witness. Manziel attorney Bob Hinton said police told him the vehicle was damaged on the driver's side.

Manziel's publicist, Denise Michaels, said the former Cleveland player told her he hit his head but didn't have a concussion or other injury.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner is facing a misdemeanor assault charge in a domestic violence case involving former girlfriend Colleen Crowley. A status hearing is scheduled for Friday, but Manziel isn't required to appear.

Johnny Manziel's lawyer expresses doubt QB can stay clean....

DALLAS -- An attorney handling Johnny Manziel's domestic violence case expressed doubts about the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback's ability to stay clean and said he was given a receipt that shows Manziel may have spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia store just 15 hours after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash, according to a lengthy text message accidentally sent to The Associated Press.

Defense attorney Bob Hinton's text indicated Manziel's legal team was seeking a plea deal with prosecutors, but suggested that could be tricky.

"Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle," the attorney wrote.

Hinton also wrote that he had been emailed a "heads up" receipt "which purports to reflect" that Manziel made a purchase of $1,018.77 at a Gas Pipe store at 12:03 p.m. on Tuesday, less than a day after his crash. A manager at a Gas Pipe location not far from where Manziel's crash was reported declined to discuss whether he bought anything there. A sign in the store says ID is required for purchases above $200.

"I don't know if the receipt is legitimate or not," Hinton responded when asked about it by the AP. "I just know that it doesn't say Johnny's name on it anywhere that I can see. It's just that somebody in that store, I guess, circulated that to the other store managers and employees saying, 'Guess who was here today and spent this amount of money.' That's all I know."

The errant text was sent Wednesday after the AP sought comment via text about Monday night's crash. When asked about the text, Hinton said he had meant to send it another attorney on the case and was unaware the AP had received it instead. He insisted the contents were protected by attorney-client privilege and threatened to sue if certain details were published.

I know, what the h*ll is wrong with me......oh, that's right, I love him getting in the spotlight for all the WRONG reasons.   Poster boy for big man on campus, dies when he makes it to the big leagues.   Ugh.....

Well, Dad isn't holding back..

Paul Manziel’s full statement to ESPN read: “He’s a druggie. It’s not a secret that he’s a druggie. I don’t know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help. He just hasn’t seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn’t die before he comes to his senses. That’s about all you can say. I don’t know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we’ll see.”

Per the report, Hinton’s accidental text to the AP Wednesday also said he “was given a receipt by a colleague that purports to show [Johnny] Manziel spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia shop 15 hours” after Manziel was involved in a hit-and-run crash earlier this week.

So he's only a spot or two below me -- ie. somewhere in the millions -- of your numbered list of boyfriends?

my favorite part

Johnny spent a lot of time defending himself online. The Twitter negativity became a drug he both hated and couldn't kick, and he stayed on his phone, reading every response, firing back. His father defended him too, getting banned from the TexAgs message board and then, after borrowing a friend's login, getting his friend banned too.

And his father Paul wonders why Johnny is the way he is?

Back home, according to the Manziels, the cops saw Johnny's illegal parking job. Instead of writing him a ticket, the cops knocked on the front door after midnight and awoke his roommate. The police wanted to know whose car was parked the wrong way, offering the offender a chance to move it without getting a ticket. The intrusion set Johnny off. "They know where Johnny lives," Paul says. "They take him home after the games. They know whose car it is. They are harassing him."

Pretty amazing that his father would make public comments like that about his son unless he is just fed up and has has enough of the shenanigans.

It's really the Manziel way.

Poor ol' Jonathan.
The big, bad world picking on him, being the root of all his anger, all his problems. Including T A&M and Coach Sumlin; why they deserve a share of the blame, too.
Yeah, Dad and son have nothing to do with who he is today...

The Maziel's think they are real life Ewing's The difference is they don't have as much oil/$$ as that fictional family did, nor can they get away with as much legal crap as a TV clan typically does. The similarity is they will sell each-other out for gain: financially; socially; whatever.

Johnny's money and luck will run out.

There's a problem when a 17-year-old is the smartest/most principled one in the family...

From the ESPN article: "His parents wanted to get jffmom and jffdad on their license plates -- Johnny F -- ing Football, as the name was originally coined on the A&M message boards -- so caught up in the mania that it took their 17-year-old daughter, Meri, to point out the bad example that might set for the kids who looked up to her brother. The family still laughs about how his grandmother was so excited to see Johnny on the front page of the Auburn paper that she stole copies lying in front of the doors at their hotel."

Manziel says he's going sober starting July 1

Someone's doing drugs in the Mexico house where Johnny Manziel is staying but the QB swears it's not his stuff and further says he's going stone-cold sober in a few days, TMZ reports.

Manziel who was adamant they are not his drugs.

"They're absolutely not mine.

Manziel is staying in the insanely expensive Cabo mansion with 20 people, not all of whom he knows.

For his part, Manziel said he's doing any drugs in Mexico and says he's going completely sober starting July 1st, no booze, eating right and training like crazy.

A - he does not exhibit the maturity to make good decisions with the money he's been given, whether it be from family/oil or from the NFL.

B - he does not posses the skills necessary to be a competent NFL QB. He's an athlete for sure, but that does not translate to being a competent QB and does equate to sustained success at the position.
