That doesn't mean I won't root for one team or the other in a SB - for one reason or another. But those reasons are not because of any loyalty.

Now I have a brother who is a Steeler fan. Born some 18 years after myself, he grew up in the 70s - when the Pack were struggling. Pray for him.

Interesting, parents usually dont have kids eighteen years apart and you sure are old arent you. Razzer
My oldest is 32. My youngest is 15. You are right. Not many 18 years apart.
But as far as choosing a 2nd Fav team? Impossible. I root (and own) for the best franchise in professional sports. Compared to the Green Bay Packers the rest of football sucks. If there was one franchise that really was close to Green Bay it would be the New York Giants. I know they beat us twice in the playoffs. We clobbered them in the Lombardi era and they gave us Vince.
I have rooted for other teams along with the Packers in the past, mainly during the 80s: Bartkowski/Andrews/Cain/Van Note/Thielman Falcons, John L. Williams Seahawks, Air Coryell and the Doug Williams-led Redskins over the Donks in the Super Bowl.

Since the Cardiac Pack I follow other teams/players for FFL but don't have anything resembling a second-favorite.
1. Cardinals - beat the Packers a few years ago in the playoffs on a play that should have been roughing the passer...hate them.

2. Falcons - former Vick team and current whiny head coach + Matty (cold as) Ice ...hate them.

3. Ravens - Ray Lewis should be in prison...hate them.

4. Bills and Panthers - total ambivalence.

6. Bears - division rival and the uncanny ability to squeak out wins in games that they have no business winning...usually due to pure luck...hate them.

7. Bengals - Chad Johnson's old team...hate them.

8. Browns - Is it bad that I wish bad luck on everything the Walrus has done since he left the Packers? Hate the Browns.

9. Cowboys - JJ, Michael "Cocaine" Irvin, Emmit (even I could have run behind his lineman)....hate them.

10. Broncos - Never liked Elway or Shannon, Romanowski's former team, beat the Packers in the SB...hate them.

11. Lions - Division rivals stuffed with cheap shot artists...hate them.

12. Texans - Paid Ahman Green a big chunk of change when he had nothing left in the tank...I'm ok with them.

13. Colts - threw last season to get Luck...hate them.

14. Jaguars - I keep forgetting that they're an actual NFL team.

15. Chiefs - ruined the Packers perfect regular season...hate them.

16. Dolphins - signed Ocho, going to be on Hard Knocks, but I do hope Philbin finds some success.

17. Vikings - geez, I could write a book. Karma's a beotch. Hate them.

18. Patriots - Belicheat, former Ocho and Randy Moss team...hate them.

19. Saints - Bountygate and Brees is a stat whore. Hate them.

20. Giants - I still don't know how Manning won two SBs...hate them.

21. Jets - Former Brent team, current Tebow team, Rex is a bloated big-mouth...hate them.

22. Raiders - total ambivalence.

23. Eagles - current Vick and T.O. team, 4th and 26 and the recipient of one of Brent's historic duck passes...hate them.

24. Steelers - Dirty players and a rapist QB...hate them.

25. Chargers - Rivers reminds me of a 60's cartoon super hero with his goofy smile. total ambivalence.

26. 49ers - former T.o. team, Rice fumbled, nowadays they think they're way better than I suspect they really are. Coach courted Peyton and then denied it ever happened...hate them.

27. Seahawks - Coach is NCAA cheater and he bailed out before the sh!t hit the fan. The Walrus left the Packers for them...hate them.

28. Rams - Greatest Show on Turf! Hate them.

29. Bucs - Sapp played for them....hate them.

30. Titans - who cares!

31. Redskins - It's hard to hate a team that shoots itself in the foot every single season...but I still hate them.
some good stuff there bd. Smiler

spot on! great comparison
While I don't have a 2nd fave team, per se, I have always had a soft spot for the old school, charter member NFL teams . . . Giants, Steelers, even the Lions and Bears. Don't like em, but do respect their tradition and longevity.

Always kind of liked the Browns, but Modell effed that up. They aren't the same Brownies today.

Had a grudging respect for the old Baltimore Colts of Shula, Unitas, Berry, Matte, et al. They had some great battles with Lombardi's Packers. Then the Irsays effed that up and took the team to Indy. Ravens . . ? . . meh

Always kinda liked the Steelers & how they do things, but nowadays I can't stand Big Ben and his rapist ways, so it's hard for me to wish the team well.
When I was a kid, I liked the Dolphins a bit because of Larry Csonka and Paul Warfield (one of the most underrated, forgotten receivers ever). Now, it's the Pack or bust for me....though as others have said, I root for whoever is playing our NFC North rivals. I used to be a nut about following all sports and had favorite teams in each (Reds, Islanders) but because of the insane money and lack of loyalty in the major sports, I've lost interest and care only about football (except for Stanley Cup Hockey), and only when the Packers are involved.
I don't have a second favorite anymore. At one time, I used to cheer on The Bills during their super bowl losing streak. The reason for this is I wanted to see James Lofton get a ring. He was my favorite player and the player that got me into The Packers. I was five years old when he was drafted by the Packers. I have no idea why I liked him, but that is what got me into The Packers. For that, I thank Mr. Lofton.
For sure he was spectacular! I'm from Pennsylvania and The Packers weren't exactly lighting the world on fire during that time. I didn't know any Packer fans so it is kind of weird that I liked Lofton. He was so graceful and a pleasure to watch. I didn't see many Packer games because this was before Direct Tv. I guess it was just meant to be that I am a Packer fan.

I live outside of Philly and have pure hatred towards the Eagles. I do root for the Phillies and Sixers, but no team is even close to the love I have for the Packers.

Living in LA I have adopted the local teams but I don't watch other sports until playoffs. Hockey it's the KINGS! I have love/hate relationship w/ Lakers, follow the Clippers a bit. Dodgers? I don't like baseball.

We have no NFL team but I do root for the Chargers if I happen to see em on tv and I like Drew Brees but not a Saints fan per se.

I tend to root against teams these days; Vikings, Bears, Lions, Jets (coach), maybe add Giants to list...

One year in grade school the most popular kid, Dave Holm, was a Vikings fan and I liked Tarkenton and the Purple People Eaters too. What can I say? The Packers sucked and I was young and dumb.
Hmmmm.... A CAL guy is the QB of the Packers. But, if I said I liked the Pack, I would never hear the end of it from you guys so I will go with the Texans.

Andre, Arian ... Two terrific fun players to watch. I hope Jackson/Martin can take a cue from them.
