What about the other forms of cancer?  I think Green & Gold would work.

Maybe we should have OI awareness month - and wear yellow.

I think that’s a great idea.....how many cancers are there??  Sox or shoes in color  for ALL the cancers.....love that idea.

They did. This was the NFL's new logo this year, they wanted to bring attention to all types of cancer, not just breast. This was all over the field and on hats/sweatshirts, etc in October.

My mom has been fighting cancer battles on two fronts for close to two years. She's had a lot of organs stripped out to save time. Cancer is going to get her. She's 78 and she knows it. But she's fighting the fight and keeping up for the family. You think I have fight you should meet my mom.. Pink month was always nonsense. Cancer doesn't have a calendar.

I had my favorite brother, (out of 4) AND my only sister die from melanoma cancer.  I know cancer has no calendar, but it was a thing, NFL players wearing pink, just asking what happened to it.

Nice gesture.......

That's kind of funny.  I thought it was rather progressive of the NFL militarists to be supporting LBGTQ causes.  I'm going with that to piss off the multitude of unAmerican knuckle draggers.

That and Komen is a less than honorable association.

This is just me personally but I don't feel like being reminded of burying every friend I had.

"Cancer doesn't have a calendar. " Damn straight, Chillijon! I lost my mother to colon cancer that spread before they could get to it. I lost my wife to an aggressive uterine/endometrial cancer. Both robbed of long lives. Did a "Relay For Life" event once and was amazed how the sponsors pushed all other cancers to the back of the line to make the event a breast cancer show. I  never attended another one of those and will never donate money to a Komen event again.

It's almost like single issue politic schmucks trying to cash in on others misfortune and misery.  I'm pretty sure events for cancer in general and providing information for all would be a lot more beneficial.

Go get the stinky pinky boys.  Don't forget to grope yourself girls.

Wear brown gloves for colon cancer awareness?

But seriously, lost various family to the C.  Mom at 69.  Breast cancer, treatment, remission, reappearance as bone cancer, treatment, treatment, treatment, fini.  Fought long and hard.  Wife had non-malignant carcinoma at her early 20's but has been clean since then.  The more awareness the better.

Sure the NFL talks a good game about cancer but yet lets this happen:

Pro Bowl tackle Trent Williams, who ended his holdout with the Washington Redskins earlier this week, says he had a cancerous growth on his scalp and his team didn't do anything about it.

"It was cancer," Williams said Thursday. "I had cancer. I had a tumor removed from my skull, attached to my skull. It got pretty serious for a second. I was told some scary things from the doctor. It was definitely nothing to play with, one of the things that changed my outlook on life."
According to ESPN, Williams, who spoke to reporters gathered at his locker, said he was diagnosed with a form of cancer called dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP). Per the report, Williams did not name any of the team's medical staff he believes is responsible. He also would not say if he would ever play for the team again this season.
Williams was asked by a reporter about when he first approached the Washington team doctor about this: "Probably like six years ago," he said.

Hard to say whether Trent is really being forthcoming or not. I saw another ESPN report where the Redskins told him to follow up multiple times but he refused. Now, that's entirely possible they are trying to cover their ass. But it's also possible Williams was non-compliant and didn't do the follow up he was supposed to. Scary either way for Williams, who sounds like they caught it just in time before it started invading his brain.

Not being argumentative or funny, BUT once I thought something was wrong outside of a football injury I would be on the phone with the closest specialist in the  field.

I know nothing of this episode or what TW or the Skins did or did not do. I do find it hard to believe that any doctor would not tell him to get it checked out ASAP.

The funny thing about cancer awareness is no one seems to be aware it's actually an epidemic in this society.  I'm pretty damn sure it's not an evolutionary trait to self destruct.  Could be those pumpkin flavored Oreos or driving through various fucking cancer alleys everyday.

My Mom died of cancer last month at 82. My sister-in-law is battling breast cancer right now. Far too prevalent.

I saw a Steeler wearing pink socks, w/ yellow pants, ug. It's up to players now, has been for a few years.

While some are genetically predisposed with a greater probability of getting cancer, much of it is environmental.  Garbage in = Garbage out.   But let's loosen regulations on what can be dumped into our air, soil and water because that'll bring down health care costs.

Yeah....just came here to post the Trent Williams thing too.

If all that shit is true.... what he says about the 'Skins medical staff. Why would anyone want to play for that crap franchise? They're worse than the Browns or Bengals or Chargers

More than 75% of all new cancer diagnoses are made in people over 55 years old.  One can eliminate or reduce other risk factors but you can't do anything about time.

Some will argue that it's generalized environmental pollutants that are the cause but there is no baseline for comparison. The average lifespan, total population  and industrial contamination have leaped upward in the same time span. There have never been so many old people alive, both sick and well.

Isn't that nice.  You sound like a tobacco lawyer.  Tell that to 3 friends who didn't make it to 45.  1 in 2 men, 1 in 3 women.  Pretty easy stat.

Basically, over 55 cancer time.  Normal.

Ultimately, everybody dies of something.

If we conquer things like smallpox, ruptured ulcers, and spoiled food diseases, that necessarily means more people are going to die of things like dementia and cancer.

I think it was Cleveland.

Correct -- which is why I mentioned the Browns

When I can't do anything about something, I study it. You prefer to rage.

Both about equally effective, I suppose.

You mean call a spade a spade.  Don't fall over your own sense of superiority.

Cancer is what it is.   My friends made the choices they did but those choices were shaded by the society we live in.

Trust me Chauncey, I can spin out a slew of sociological horseshit for why we live the way we do that would make your "studies" look cute and have about as much validity.  That's not a compliment to you or me.

Don't mistake rage for a very utilitarian distaste of apathy dressed up in worthless stats.

Or you could get crushed by a sea lion while harpooning or washed down a gulley on the back 40.

People fucking die.  If millions of people were getting hit by buses I'm sure there would be some POS organization to raise awareness for teen girls getting hit by buses instead of just saying, "Jesus, a lot of people get hit by buses.  What the fuck is that all about?"

Or maybe for 99.99999% of human history our average life span was around 25-35 years tops.

And in the last 100 years medical advances have jacked it up to 75-80 now...and what do you know...we develop all kinds of weird shit when we live 40 years longer than we were designed to.

Duh.

It's not a problem...it's a blessing.
