Check out the JJ Watt post game interview. He was pretty angry. Had to laugh at his responses to those awful reporter questions..
Some pretty terse, short answers.
@fightphoe93 posted:Agreed on MVS/Janis lacking ball tracking skills. That is something that is almost not coachable, it’s something that comes naturally and easily to some, and for others they never get good at it no matter how hard they work to improve at it.
The best I ever saw at ball tracking was Randy Moss. He had an incredible ability to accelerate/decelerate to exactly the right spot to catch the ball easily. Sterling Sharpe was very good at that as well.
MVS inability to track the ball was even evident in pre-game warmups. Adams and Lazard would run some simple go routes in pregame and smoothly adjust to where the ball was going to be. They were fluid and not a lot of wasted motion. MVS would look awkward and slow down to slightly change direction.
The play yesterday that summed up Adams' elite ability was the TD where Rodgers threw a decent, but not perfect, pass. Adams was running full speed, turned his entire upper body around to catch the pass facing the line of scrimmage and running backwards, hauled it in, and then immediately took off going towards the end zone. MVS would have fallen down if he'd have tried to do that. Adams made it look like he was effortlessly playing catch in the backyard.

Agree on Moss. He's by far the most physically gifted WR I've ever seen. Not just tracking the ball, he'd also time his jump and high point it better than anyone I've ever seen. It's pretty tough to say this next sentence, but it's accurate. Moss had almost 1000 career catches, 15,000 yards, and 156 TDs, but significantly underachieved in terms of what he could have been.

We wouldn't need Watt to be the 1994 version of Reggie White. He's on pace for about 6-8 sacks this year and he'd immediately make their run defense exponentially better. He's under contract for one more year after this one at a reasonable salary (he'll be the 11th highest paid DE in the year next year and is making 8 million less than the top guys).

If you could get him for our 2021 first-round pick next year, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Especially given the Packers pick is likely going to be in the later 20s.
I don't want the Packers to blow up the salary cap to sign a free agent or to trade away half their draft for a player, but I want them to show some urgency to at least make some attempt to improve a team that at least has a puncher's chance at a Super Bowl appearance with Pro-Bowl level talent already at QB, WR, RB, LT, edge rusher, and CB. They've got all the key positions that are the hardest to fill covered. Either upgrade at ILB and WR, or upgrade a position (DL) that makes the job of the mediocre ILB they have much easier.
Kamal Martin had a nice game to build on. Wasn't perfect, but he made some plays that made me think he's going to be really good in the middle. He keyed a run and attacked like I haven't seen a LB do in GB in a LONG time.
Here's the one. Martinez, Hawk, Barnett, etc. would have waited to catch this guy 3 yards downfield.
#Packers rookie 5th round pick LB Kamal Martin made his NFL debut vs HOU - and it was a damn good showing!

I think they got something here with this kid! Athletic and explosive! Can glide/scrape and then finish RBs!@GopherFootball 👀 pic.twitter.com/CIQDYAkdTP
Saw this from last week about Barnes. With some seasoning, confidence, and PT these two could be the combo that solves the problem honestly.
Honestly best coverage play from Packers LB in 10 years!

I don’t care the Falcons WR caught it... this is outstanding coverage by Krys Barnes
Bites on play fake (he’s aggressive) but gets depth/eyes on the crossing route! Then gets head around to find the ball! pic.twitter.com/Cs1qVmjLss
What I like is that when Barnes and Martin tackle, the ballcarrier knows it .....they have the "pop".

I really love that once he identified the route he got his eyes back to the QB. That allowed his to get his hand on it. That’s some pretty instinctive stuff.
And it also becomes a deterrent- QB knows in film he’s going to be able to make that play, and wonts try to throw the ball there.
Agreed on those two. Barnes has been the best we have since he stepped on the field. Kirksey was BAD.
What's helping them is that the dline has been playing better as well. Specifically, M. Adams has stepped up his game significantly.
Davante Adams is a bad man, look at that separation off the line. Also, the S for the Texans is mentally challenged.
Two man route, they are playing man with a single high S and he decides to follow MVS instead of Adams. Last but not least, the exotic motion draws two Texans making an easy throw even easier as there is nobody underneath it .

In addition to not following the rules you’re insulting people with special needs. Classy.

If there was any evidence that Watt could stay healthy, I'd consider gambling a second round pick for him. Given that he's been able to play fewer than eight games in four of the last five years, there's no way I'd give up a first. Plus, they would have trouble paying him given what may be a flat cap.
Everyone thinks they are clever mocking the moniker. None of you get it nor or any of you clever.
If a guy was wearing an "I'm a dipshit" shirt and the wittiest thing you can come up with to insult him is to call him a dipshit, well then, you might be the dipshit.
/\ This was behind my comment about Watt being a beat up 32.
The clip above of Martin was the one I was referring to in my earlier post. He doesn't need to look like a starter in his first NFL game, just show the ability to become one. Hopefully he stays healthy.
I like that Brainded was actually talking about football. Maybe we should all be doing that.

Yeah I agree they’ve been our top guys. I’m interested to see if Kirksey improves as the season goes if he can stay healthy. He’s shaking off a lot of rust with injuries the last couple years. At this rate though he’s going to be out of a job. He has veteran savvy that these guys don’t, so if he can round back into form we will be fine at ILB.
We need M. Adams and Keke to continue playing at the level they did yesterday. That could be a make/break for the DL. Lowry and Lanc are fine depth, but if those two are starting then you know you have a talent issue.
@PackLandVA posted:He's "trending towards a ST guy that AR doesn't trust" two games back after missing his entire second season??? Okay. That makes sense.
Wow, you are really butt hurt over this opinion, eh?
First game against Tampa - 11 snaps on offense. Looked lost out there and when targeted he hurt the offense.
Second game this week - 3 snaps on offense. Invisible. His play vs. Tampa resulted in less playing time this week. Shepard got 29 snaps this week, up a good deal from last week. One guy earned more time, the other guy lost playing time.
It's a small sample size this year but, yeah, he's TRENDING toward being a ST's guy.
I haven't given up on him and I don't think the Packers will at least until Lazard returns but he clearly needs a lot of work to get Rodgers to trust him. He's lost a lot of time to injury but that doesn't change the fact that he's almost 2/3 of the way through his rookie contract. The clock is ticking and it's not going to slow down for him.

Butt hurt - nope. It’s a message board. I just didn’t agree with the comment, that’s all. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion..
The guy missed an entire season and then wasn’t healthy enough to start the season so they IR’d him. Yep, he’s had plenty of time to learn the playbook. But there’s mental preparation and game preparation. And You’re probably not getting a lot of game prep during the couple of practices each week.
And if EQ dropping the one target he was given in the one game this season makes AR lose faith in him, well then shame on AR. I’m guessing that’s not the case. If so, why does he keep throwing to MVS?
Why did he play less snaps this past game than the previous? Who knows...other than maybe the coaches. Happens a lot each week with players all throughout the league. But I’m thinking 2 games (hardly) is really not much of a sample size to determine a) - he’s trending toward PS, b) - AR is losing faith.
