X4 Logic - Zimmer is losing control of his team, and his own players on the part of the football team that he specializes in are tuning him out. Therefore, he should be the next Packers DC.
Sweet fukking mother of baby jebus DO NOT watch the replay of Tyler Lockett's injury.
Derek Carr suffered a nasty injury too.
Not only that, but Zimmer's a 4-3 guy I think.

Four starting QBs went down today. Lockett was worst looking injury for the day, but Mariotta and Carr both broke fibulas so their teams are probably done as well.

If you want to call Bryce Petty a starting QB.

Holy crap that was nasty. That should never happen on Christmas Eve.
ESPN reported that the Minnesota DBs gave up on Zimmer's gameplan for covering Jordy Nelson and did their own thing. Glad it worked so well for them

So am I. I hope the players are, too.
This victory is glorious, but for naught if we lose to Detoilet. Chances are near zilch we get in if we lose next weekend.
Sorry to say it boys, congrats on a great win, enjoy it tonight, but tomorrow start thinking Lions.
And Go Pack, Go.
Wow, I can't imagine players going rouge like that, but still, this is two straight weeks the coach is throwing players under the bus

How the hell did he hold on for the TD?
It was not a TD They ruled him down at the 1 and Seattle failed to score on that drive.
From SI: Officials initially ruled the play a touchdown, but they overturned the call on the field after a review, instead saying that Lockett was down by contact at the oneâyard line. The Seahawks failed to score on the drive.
Here is the play be play:
2:46 | Russell Wilson pass to the left to Tyler Lockett for 28 yards to the Ari1. Tackled by Brandon Williams. | 14 | 0
2:27 | Thomas Rawls rush to the right for no gain to the Ari1. Tackled by Sio Moore and Corey Peters. | 14 | 0
2:00 | Two Minute Warning. | 14 | 0
2:00 | Russell Wilson rush to the middle for no gain to the Ari1. Tackled by Calais Campbell and Scooby Wright III. | 14 | 0
1:21 | Russell Wilson incomplete pass to the right. | 14 | 0
1:15 | Seahawks timeout. | 14 | 0
1:15 | Russell Wilson sacked at Ari8 for a loss of 7 yards by Rodney Gunter. |
This whole Zimmerman says one thing and the DBs did another is mind blowing. And the fact that Zimmer was right to say "stop Jordy", as evidenced by the second half slow down of the offense, makes it doubly mind blowing. How can that happen on an NFL team in the 21st century????
The pass rush was the difference in the second half. Then they turned down the heat at the end. The Packer CBs are truly completely lost. It's unthinkable how poorly these guys play week after week. 700+ yards of passing against them between Barkley and Bradford... next week won't get any easier if they don't start rushing the passer effectively.

Horrible to see players using makeup. First rouge, next thing it'll be lipstick.
Merry Christmas to all!
Anyway my game ball is going to Matthews. He turned the game around with that strip sack before halftime and came up big on third down when we needed it.
As great as Rodgers-the-MVP and Jordy were, Matthews deserves the game ball for doing it injured.
Pass pressure looming large as the key to what is to come. Offense is sickly good, no real worries there. But Whence cometh thou, pass rush?
1. Him
2. Club man
3. Old guy
4.Datone/Daniels/Lowry/blitzes?????/Can a club work for Elliot too?
Nick Perry.
He's been great this season.
Hope he keeps that up

Joe Namath wore pantyhose....
...which actually would have put him ahead of the curve as compression socks are very popular now.
McGinn's player ratings. Great breakdown as usual. Recommended.

Because you've never seen highly successful DCs (at one time at least) fail as HCs . . . like Dan Compers. Nailed that one.
Biggest positive: GB is getting more production from our undrafted rookie WR than Minnesota is out of their 1st round rookie WR.
Talked to my Vikings fan Bro-in-law. He is despondent. He rightly believes Speilidiot should pull a Ron Wolf and throw almost every pick at Oline.
Hope he does and they all become Matt Kalil.
yeah, draft OL with all their picks... and then let them sit on the bench for their rookie year, right?

Or Norv Turner. or even a guy like Rod Marinelli. Marvin Lewis , SEXY Rexy Ryan
I want new blood in the DC seat. Nothing that happens this season including winning the Superb Owl will change my mindset.
IT is time.
I'm no fan of Jerry Jones, but there is something to be said for the way he rebuilt his offense. When you don't have an Aaron Rodgers or Adrian Peterson, who can produce without a ton of help in general, how do you generate consistent production? You start by building a powerhouse OLine, even if you have to build it one first round pick at a time. Even if they hadn't hit on Elliot, I think they probably would still have had a successful running game (and season) as McFadden and Morris could have manufactured Elliot's production behind that line. That line also has allowed for a rookie 4th round pick to come in and feel comfortable enough to successfully run the offense.
Minnesota probably has no more Adrian Peterson (whose career is twilighting anyway) and no true franchise QB. Perhaps it would behoove Spielman to think about throwing a couple drafts at the OLine...oh wait they don't have a first round pick this year...

Wait so a SB win won't make you stop and say "maybe this guy is good enough..."? I guess I don't understand that mindset. All I want is for GB to win as many SBs as possible, I don't care how it happens or how they get there. If they went 7-9 with the 32nd ranked defense, but they made the playoffs and won out, I would call it a successful season.
If teams were smart, they'd stop chasing franchise QBs in the first round and instead use those first round picks on o-line, pass rushers and CBs. In the last 10 years, guys like Bortles, Tannehill, Manziel, Manuel, Weeden, Gabbert, Ponder, Locker, etc. went way earlier than they deserved based just on talent; most were drafted about a round or two higher than their talent suggested because teams were so desperate for a QB. It all comes down to draft evaluation - just grab the most talented players that have a chance to contribute on your team and things will be fine.
As for the Cowboys, I'll give credit to Steven but not Jerry. I'm not sure Jerry is that involved in the draft anymore. If he was, they would have drafted Manziel.

He didn't build ****! They built that team despite him, not because of him. He wanted to draft guys like Johnny Ootball. Poor Stephen had to tackle him to prevent that from happening.

I'd like to see Dan Compers be a successful DC right about now.
I get the angst from fans with regards to Capers and his defenses, but what they are doing this year is not that different than what his defenses have done in the past - here and elsewhere.
The total yards vs MIN looks bad, but the game was never really in question, defensively.
1st half MIN possessions
plays | yards | outcome | |
3 | 6 | punt | |
8 | 65 | FG | |
12 | 67 | FG | |
3 | 18 | fumble | |
2 | 75 | TD | 1 big play |
4 | 15 | fumble |
Yards between the 20's and turnovers, it's what they do.
I can accept a hiccup here & there from the defense. But how many times do we have to see an opposing player destroying the defense & Capers NEVER adjusts but just keeps on "doing what we do." Julio Jones last year, Adam Thielen this year. Diggs & Marvin Jones earlier this year.
I've completely had it with Capers. Yes I want to win the Super Bowl. Obviously. I appreciate the SB we did win! I want change at the DC spot. We need fresh blood.
The Packers have given up 23 points in the first three quarters against the Bears and Vikings (or 3 points per quarter). They have then gave up 29 points in the 4th quarter of those games (or 14 points per quarter). I can only assume that Capers adjusts the defense based on the score which is absolutely f*&king stupid. If defensive scheme A held them to 3 points per quarter for three quarters, why change to defensive scheme B when you get a 3 TD lead? Why not keep playing what has worked for 3 quarters? If someone can explain this to me, I'm all ears. Because I just don't get how allowing Bradford to have a career day in the fourth quarter helps us win the game.
After the Seattle debacle, no lead is big enough for me to think a game is over. Just ignore the score and time left in the game until the last possession. Until then, just play the best defense you can.

Well replace Jerry with Stephen in what I said, but the point still stands. Their OLine isn't just performing as well or better than every OLine in the NFL (I think GB pass blocks better), the rest of their O is feeding off the confidence that line provides. We don't see many rookie mistakes from Dak or Elliot because most rookies are overthinking and trying to do too much. Those guys seem to have the poise and confidence you don't normally see from rookies and I think a big part of that is the fact they trust the OLine is keeping them clean. There's something to be said for that method of team building.

Nobody disagrees with that. The problem is we've seen Capers piss away at least a couple of legit shots at the Superb Owl over the past few years. And Seattle, MM and that coaching staff will wear that tattoo till the end of time.
And yes, talent supplied is part of the equation but the coaching breakdowns and the 4th quarter sit and quit are evident.
To CU's point, I think he just takes fewer risks in the 4th Q compared to other quarters while opponents take more risks because they're behind. I think most of the game they play a high risk/high reward defense that either forces turnovers/sacks/punts (vs. Seattle) or allows easy points if someone fuks up (vs. Tennessee). When you have a lead in the 4th do you really want to continue to play high risk football? The D needs to close better, but the strategy is to keep the O in front of you and force long drives that wear down the clock, which is happening. Minnesota averaged 4 minutes per drive on their 2 Q4 drives, they weren't going to score the 20+ necessary points by going on long drives like that.
Here is the other thing going wrong in the 4Q, the offense isn't keeping the D off the field. They have averaged just under 2 minutes per drive on the 5 Q4 drives they've had the last 2 weeks with only 13 points to show for it. They need to do a better job closing games also.
