just finished the game on TiVo.  The Badgers do look tired.  Not much movement on offense and slow feet on defense.  If the have to play like crap, I'd rather they get it out of their system now and start playing better come B1G Tourney.  But the last few games have not been fun to watch.  At Minny, At Rutgers, At Nebraska were ugly.  NW played terrific defense and shot really well, hence they won.

Nigel Hayes seems perfectly content being the third or even fourth option. If this continues, this team will be done early this year and he may be lucky to find a pro team overseas.

Could his Bucky career be considered a disappointment based upon what we saw his freshman year?

No. He flourished in a role as a freshman on a Final 4 team and as a starter on another Final 4 team as a sophomore. What we saw was a good complementary player. He's been at worst a solid player in his overall career. He's a 6'6" inch great college player. He never had the athleticism of Sam Dekker. He was never really an NBA prospect.

He hasn't been terrible this year at all. Other than FTs, he's been a top 10-15 player in the Big Ten. He's had to sacrifice the best aspects of his game for Ethan Happ. Hayes should be posted up on the block and then drawing double teams to pass out of. Happ is so good one on one on the block that he's taken those opportunities. The struggles the Badgers have had recently is that Happ has struggled with aggressive double teams. He ends up holding the ball or dribbling out of it for several seconds and that bogs down the offense. Hayes is a better passer out of the double teams, but not as good with the post moves. Hayes is much better from 8-10 feet than Happ is. It will be interesting to see how Gard adjusts. As good as Happ is, he is a liability on offense if he's not within 5 feet of the basket. Hayes is at least a threat from 3 (31%).

Hayes also represents the university well. He's articulate and isn't afraid to voice an informed opinion. Whether you agree with him or not, he's clearly thought through some things. I think he likely ends up as an announcer on the Big 10 network.

The double team will be in every teams playbook till the Badgers can figure it out.

Gard is smart, the players are smart,  they can get it fixed.

Right about BK, he is hurting.

Ethan Happ struggling with the double teams and Koenig not being right are what's bogging down the offense right now. I don't know what they are going to do to adjust with Happ. Until they do, that's a major problem.

Koenig is 14 for his last 55 from the field and 7 for his last 31 for 3. That would usually mean a lot worse than a 4-1 record for Bucky over that stretch.

I can't believe all the Hayes bashing.  If he wasn't so outspoken would he be receiving this level of criticism?  I doubt it.

Koenig is a hot and cold shooter and Happ can't hit a jumper to save himself.   Yet it's all Hayes fault?  Cmon now.

This team is very good but it has flaws and can be beaten.  The word is out on how to play UW.  Double Happ and make the Badgers beat you from the outside.   Or foul them down the stretch and force them to make FTs.

Of course, the opposition needs to play well defensively and hit shots as well but it's an interesting team.  If they get on a roll in the tourney they will be tough to beat.
