Is it a big time zone difference or just a long flight in the same or very close time zone?

Brazil does not follow DST, so they're currently 3 hours ahead from Green Bay.  But the Packers would lose 2 hours upon landing in Sao Paulo since the game is played in September before the US time changes.

Sort of a mini bye too.   Play Friday night, fly back to Green Bay probably early Sat., have Sunday off and maybe an extra day if game 2 is Monday night .

Spanish, Polish, accented English, and the green back. Those are the languages in Chicago.

The Spanish/Polish juxtaposition is very interesting.  Not to mention all the Germans that ended up in south america around and after WW2.  I once worked with a guy named Pablo Jendretzki.  He had dark bronze skin from his argentine mother and ice blue eyes from his Polish father.  Very popular with the ladies. He may have known J. Peterman.

Right now it is 552 pm in Sao Paulo

Don't know if it's still a fact, but the Sao Paulo areas in the 80's, had the largest population of Japanese people outside of Japan.
(I would have guessed Hawaii)

Nice factoid

Want another?
On my last flight back from Rio to LA I'm sitting in back coach (as all benefiters were required to do) and at the last minute 5 scruffy dudes stumble back into coach and I'm wondering WTF. Took a second look and holy shit that's John Mayhall! Smiled and gave him an up thumb and went to sleep.
Saw the group again at LA baggage claim and shook his hand and told him how much I'd enjoyed his work.

Not specifically related to the Packers and Brazil but didn't want to start a new thread.   Anyway The Wall Street Journal is reporting Amazon Prime will stream a playoff game next season.    If is a Packer game Goldie will love that.

Doesn't look likely for Packers in Brazil...how about the Badgers at Lambeau ?

According to Louie Vaccher of WildcatReport, Rivals’ dedicated site covering the Northwestern Wildcats, Northwestern athletics director Derrick Gragg told a group of alumni at a New York City get together last week that his school’s football team will be playing a game at Lambeau Field in 2024.

Notably, the Wildcats’ Ryan Field is undergoing an $800 million renovation, which is going to lead to some creative hosting for Northwestern’s home games this season.

Per Vaccher, the most likely matchup for Northwestern’s “home” game at Lambeau Field is the Wisconsin Badgers, who the Wildcats will play on
October 19th.

I was thinking how amazing it would be if the Packers were playing against Northwestern at Lambeau. What a beating! Then it occurred to me. The result will be exactly the same as it is when WE play that other team from Illinois every year.

Listened to an Eagles podcast with a bunch of their local reporters. The consensus there seemed to be they would likely settle on the Browns game.  Didn't think they'd use an NFC matchup. The other AFC options were the Steelers  (no sense in playing the battle of Pennsylvania in Brazil) and the Jaguars who already have to go to another country to play.

The reason I think it will be the Packers instead of the Browns is Friday September 13th at the Browns stadium there will be a Billy Joel and Rod Stewart concert. So unless the Browns open the season with 2 road games. Also don't know how DeShawn Watson would be perceived in Brazil

🇧🇷 <<----- see that flag? See those colors?

There's only 2 teams it could be....

  1. Cowboys
  2. Packers

....and since Packers aren't allowed to be on Hard Knocks....get ready.....here it comes

Nope. According to Murphy it's the Browns or Packers.

Forgot about this thread

CALLED IT!! Brazil flag is Green & Gold

that would suck if it is streamed separately. Paying over $400 or whatever it will be this year and still not able to watch your favorite team is lunacy. Do we even want the Packers to go there. Last time they went out of the country did not work out too well.

Hoping the NFL is using the threat of Brazil as leverage to get the Packers to agree to Hard Knocks this preseason. I'd rather that over taking the team on a thirteen hour trip. MLF didn't handle our last trip well.

Listening to Wilde and Tauscher. They said a Cleveland Brown player on the Browns website, said we're playing in Brazil. The organization has not walked that back.

FWIW

"We're" meaning the Browns or the Packers? 🤔

I'm assuming he meant the Browns.

Called it!!
