The fieldmouse heard the owl call his name.

I thought it was Confucius who said:
When the Owl Comes, The Fieldmouse squeaks.
No, Confucius said:

We know where Aaron Rodgers will be on Sunday: Daytona International Speedway.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback will be in attendance to cheer on driver Danica Patrick at the 60th annual Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
“He’s going to be here to support me and he’s excited,” Patrick told the Associated Press. “I’m excited to show him what I do.”
And here’s the happy couple: http://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/0...ona-500-photo-dating
Yikes....USA vs Canada for women’s hockey gold medal. USA, USA, USA,
Gooooooaaaaaaaaallllllll. USA
Canada’s up 2 - 1
For those who think there's no checking in women's hockey, just watch these two teams! Lots of good action and good old-fashioned rivalry.
TIED......overtime coming up.....and if you’ll remember the men went into overtime and lost in the shootout. Just hoping the women can bring home the gold. USA,USA, USA.
Let me know what happens.......was watching the women’s combined in skying.....Vonn lost out, was first going into the second run and didn’t finish, no medal.....another American won Silver. I dead tired....going to bed.
According to what I heard on the radio this morning. USA women's hockey team won the gold. Apparently, in the shoot out the American player used a triple deek (spell?) to get the puck past the Canadian goalie.
Thanks for the commentary Goldie.
What a game !!! Typical US/Canada slug fest. I had my doubts at the end of the 2nd period but the US gals really stepped up their play from the 3rd period on. Well done ladies.
Yahoo just read they won!!!!!! Best ever olympics!!!! USA, USA, USA. Man they needed that so bad. YEARS, since they won. Makes me so proud. Well, that’s the game set and match for me. Team sport, team win. Way to go ladies.
I never understood when someone wins a silver they almost always act like they "lost".
Ain't nothing wrong with a silver medal.
Maybe I'm just a loser....SAD!!!
Agree.
If you wanted gold....you should have won.

Even tho I despise her, Cool she is a fan of USA women's hockey.
Well Boris, they did lose. The Canadians aren't used to losing. They had 24 wins and 4 gold medals in row coming into this game. This was a soul crushing loss for them. That doesn't excuse poor sportsmanship by taking your second place medal off but I do understand why the Canadians feel the way they do. That being said, Tough beans. The game could have gone either way and the Canadians just didn't get it done.
I stayed up and watched the whole thing. Damn it was a great game and huge fun!! USA! USA! USA!

I wouldn't consider a first loss after such long dominance "soul crushing". I would however consider after never having won a SB , losing yet another NFCCG or SB, "soul crushing".

Shoot Cave.....wanted to....just so tired.....but was just an awesome surprise when I found out they won this morning.. So jealous that I didn’t “see” it live tho.
Game could have gone either way. While I'm glad the USA won, I'd like to have officials let them finish medal games until there's a winner like the NHL does in the playoffs. But it was a classic!

Just something I observed a few days ago.
I was watching one of the NBC networks, and they were talking about how the US women's hockey team was scrutinized in the last Olympics because they were crying and very upset that they won the Silver Medal. Someone said taking the Silver in hockey is heartbreaking, because you have to lose a game to take Silver. They said something to the fact that a Bronze is somehow more satisfying, because you have to win the last game to get it.
That's just idiotic.
Maybe they should make the "loser" Silver winner play the Bronze winner to WIN the silver?
You earned your way into AT LEAST a SILVER. Ok yeah, you lost the Gold medal game....but you WON a few games to GET to that spot.
People are stooopid
So Boris, the loser of the Superb Owl should be happy they "just made it"? Just curious if that's how
I can see where someone would rather win their last game of the year than end the year as a "loser." Happy you made it? Sure, to a degree. But for myself, I'm far more upset losing than I am happy in winning. And in women's hockey where there's really only two contenders, making it to the gold-medal game is not a big deal for either Canada or the US -- it's expected. Hence, losing is magnified. (Just my explanation...)
We expect elite athletes to perform at a level far above ourselves and then expect them to deal with the results as we would.
Personally, I have never understood the silver/bronze medal thing. A game is devised to produce a winner. There are events where no victor is crowned. They're called exhibitions.
Hey Boris,
They actually do that (or did do that) in high school wrestling during sectionals/regional tournaments.
If the 3rd place wrestler lost to the eventual 1st place winner (that match would have taken place in the first bracket), 3rd place would then wrestle the 2nd place wrestler and the winner of that match would take 2nd. Then the 1st and 2nd place would move on to the next tourney towards the state chamionship.
Great pull, Thunderbird... which happens to be my HS alma mater's "team" name.
We had a terrific wrestling team at Lakeland when I was there in the 1970's... I distinctly remember that rule. Some of my buddies and their competition at other schools were so evenly matched that they'd finish 1-2 in most tournaments on the way to State... some for 4 years running. Emotions and memories run hot and I distinctly remember the cheering sections for the 2-3 matches you describe above as being 100 times more intense than the championship matches. Gives "win and advance" a bit more texture...
Just a side note.
This curling match is ****ing awesome.

It's the Olympics, not the Super Bowl. Apples & Oranges.
I'm not saying they should be happy about losing the Gold Medal game. They should be proud they represented their country well & EARNED a Silver Medal. No other team in the Olympics did that. But Canada did.
Curling rules...stay way from those PED's! They're watching you!!
