Lovie Smith has developed a somewhat unique formula for winning, and I give him credit for that. However, as head coach he is ultimately responsible for their repeated failure to develop a strong offense to complement the generally good defense and special teams.
All I know is GB owns the Bares. Status quo works for me.

I say a lifetime contract for Cutler and Lovie is in order. They are a match made in heaven.
You're joking, right? I'd love to see Lovie get canned. He pretty consistently fields a winning team with that cavalcade of crap the front office provides him and has a defense that seems like has been figured out against every team but his. As much as I hate the Bears, I admit Lovie's a darned good coach.
I agree with Herschel. Lovie's teams are more often than not, sound on defense and special teams. The hit. They tackle. Lovie would be a great DC in Green Bay with McCarthy after Dom moves on.
I like coaches like CKA and Schwartz in the NFC North. A whole lotta nothing from them. Lovie got them to a Super Bowl...with Rex Grossman!
Lovie and the Bears have missed the playoffs 6 out of the past 9 years.
Also, he didn't take the Bears to the SB with Rex Grossman. Devin Hester, Tommie Harris, Brian Urlacher, Mike Brown, Lance Briggs, Alex Brown, Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman took them there. And they lost by 12.

More than enough reason for a lifetime contract.
