Thon Maker in crunch time has been impressive.
18 points. 7-8 FG
World, meet Thon Maker!
Bad shooting let them in, but they buckled down and got the W.
40 wins... not sure I thought that was possible a month ago.
Nice game to grit out a win tonight. The guards tonight other than Middleton were 4-23 (Delly, Vaughn, Snell, and Terry) and they still won.
Thon Maker with a career game with 23 points playing all of overtime and the kid was tough defensively. If he plays anywhere near that well consistently, they'd be a 55 win team.
Giannis with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists and he didn't even seem to play that well.
Middleton with the go ahead 3 and 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Giannis, Middleton, Maker, Brogdon, and Parker are all 25 and under. This could be a real NBA title-level contending team next year.
Solid win and good to see them close it out when it looked like the game might be in jeopardy.
Did Brogden just have the night off?
Box score said he had back soreness.
I saw that later as well
Hope he gets healthy. Brogdon is a key guy for them.
Maker was so much fun last night, particularly on the defensive side of things.
I'm desperately trying not to get ahead of myself... but you get Giannis late lottery and 3 years later you get Maker? It's astounding. You add Parker to this mix (fully recovered) and continue to develop, you might be looking at the most complete starting 5 in basketball in a couple years. A second round steal, a trade throw in, 2 late lottery picks that became monsters, and a #2 overall.
I want to believe... I really do.
One game does not make him a HOFer but you have to be impressed with his performance. He's a hard worker and has a very unique skill set.
Hammonds with what looks like another first round gem. So glad the draft experts went out if their way to trash the pick and right now it appears the Bucks are laughing their collective asses off. Brogdon is a stud and Maker has the tools to be a KG/Durant hybrid player. In a couple of years the Cavs will be schitting themselves. There is no reason this team can't be a legit contender
It's coming together. Would like to see them replace Delly with a PG with some quickness. Would really help them in certain matchups.
Brogdon has performed well in his matchups. He makes the small quick PGs work. But this draft is FULL of those kinds of players. It's a good year to need a PG...

Well, it is quite clear who the Bucks should draft in the next draft. The tallest, most athletic AFRICAN player they can find, and the next El Presidente.
What's astounding to me is Hammonds drafted Jennings and then later turned that into Middleton and Brandon Knight that later turned into Snell.
Then you have Giannis and Parker and Maker. And Brogdon. Hell, if Larry Sanders hadn't lost his mind you'd have him too!
Henson has been OK relatively speaking but damn John Hammonds has turned a laughingstock into what has the look of a dominant up and coming team.
I too need to temper my enthusiasm as I was reminded recently that at one point the Thunder had Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka. While they had some decent years they never lived up to the hype.
Still, they are headed in the right direction for a change!
The Bucks guards are pretty good. Delladova has been exactly what we were hoping for - a solid offensive player, and a gritty, scrappy defender. His playoff experience helps a lot too.
Brogdon doesn't do anything spectacular but he's got a chance to be very good. He can really do it all- pass, shoot, rebound, and defend. And his size will cause a lot of problems for smaller guards. I also think he plays with a quiet confidence and swagger and sure doesn't play like a rookie. Guy is cool as a cucumber and nothing seems to phase him.
I think this team still needs another guy that can hit shots and score but honestly Beasley has filled some of that void and if Teletovic heats up I think they are set there as well.
Absolutely love Brogdon, he's going to be one of the future pieces.
Maybe I'm being hard on Delly, cause you're right, he's a scrappy defender and does a nice job running the offense. Just think a quick PG that doesn't get beat of the dribble so often and can penetrate better could take them to another level.
They can be quicker. A water bug type like Isaiah Thomas, maybe. Shooting consistency would help- Teletovic is all feast or famine, not so sure on him being an answer.
I would rather have the Bucks size and length because you can cover up a lot of mistakes on both ends of the court. We saw that in full display last night against the Pistons and the game before against Boston.
Everyone loves a guy like Thomas (especially if he comes off the bench) but the reality is while he's a phenominal scorer he would get exposed on D. Ideally, Teletovic would regain his 2016 form.
Hawes also- he's a valuable bench player. He is like instant offense.
So long as they can make teams pay from outside, that leaves room for the slashers to operate.
While things look quite promising, one bit of tempering.
Jabari Parker is a question mark. He could be done or if not done, significantly less than what he could have been.
I hope I'm wrong of course.
His game will have evolve- there's no doubt. It's hard to believe he'll be as explosive as he was- but if he's close he'll still be an elite slasher.
But his game needs to evolve anyway. He needs to, like Jordan did, become a good/great spot up shooter. Own the mid-range and develop that 3 point range like Middleton has.
Bucks not defending, but they're up. Gary Payton II hits his first attempt as a Buck- a 3.
GP2 goes baseline for the dunk. Nice!
Harrison Barnes pushes and elbows his way to 12/12 free throws for Dallas... bucks down 5 with :20 to go.
What is it with Sunday matinee games... everyone comes in and shoots the f-ing lights out....
Dallas shot the lights out but Bucks also couldn't make their shots late and some ticky tack fouls went against them in the 4Q
Bucks have stalled at 40 wins and are now 40-38
Hawks 39-38 and have Celtics, then back to back against the Cavs, Hornets, and then Pacers
Bulls 38-40 and have two game vs. Brooklyn left, and Philly and Orlando. They are likely to win out.
Heat 38-40 and have Raptors, Bullets twice, and the Cavs.
Pacers 38-40 and have Bucks, Magic, Sixers, and Hawks
Bucks have @Pacers, @Sixers, vs. Hornets, @Celtics
One of these teams will miss the playoffs.
Bucks could end up anywhere from the 5 seed to out of the playoffs.
My prediction
5. Bucks beat the Sixers and Hornets 42-40 (win tiebreak with Bulls)
6. Bulls 4-0 42-40
7. Hawks 2-3 (beat Hornets and Pacers) 41-41
8. Pacers 3-1 (lose to Hawks) 41-41
Heat 1-3 (i think they squeak one game out) 39-43
Bulls just lost to the Knicks... they can lose to anyone just as effectively as the Bucks can.
Stalled ? They just won 14 games in March.
They have lost 2 in a row... and last nights debacle was embarrassing. Need to beat the Pacers or they're in trouble. Picked a bad time to not come ready to play two games in a row...
Heat and Hawks have the most difficult path
Bucks and Indiana next
Bulls have the easiest path for sure
Music City posted:Picked a bad time to not come ready to play two games in a row...
That has been their MO all year long. Why be surprised now.
Play tough and look like they have taken that next step... and then look inexplicably inept.
The one thing we know for sure- Brogdon is a key contributor. Without him they really struggle.
Wheels are coming off in this game. Giannis can't do it this all himself...
This is why Jason Kidd needs to go
They were completely in control of a decent playoff spot and now are running the risk of melting down and blowing it
More of the same
Well... win and they're in. Still just not there offensively without Brogdon. Giannis trying to do this all himself...
And this is the issue. Middleton just worthless right now. Can't shoot, turns the ball over... like he's hitting the wall. Monroe's been terrible. Snell passing up 3s now. They're playing exactly the opposite of what they were playing in March...
They lose to Philly and honestly they don't deserve to make the playoffs
This might be one of the most up and down teams I can remember
That's bad coaching
Pop runs this teams and they are 50+ wins easily
Bucks 2/14 from 3... and they're wide open looks.
Finally getting some shots to fall... chance to punch this thing wide open...
Bucks get the W, and the playoffs.
Bulls lose the the Nets... lol.
Miami beats Washington.
Indiana wins.
We'll see what Atlanta does...
