Rock just remarked that he seemed to be more athlete than WR. Still, he is a great blocker, RAC and big hands. He looks like a great project who can take the top off the defense while improving.
Nothing in the big 10 is equivalent to playing in the NFL
weβll see. have to trust the scouts. tv media just looking for hot takes
Per Tschmack, Giving up Walker and Wyatt for ANY WR in this draft seems a little...daft.
Lmfao. What competition did Rice see in college?
@Maxi54 posted:So what was your master plan for addressing the WR situation? Sit pat at 53 and choose from whoever was left? Choose someone else in place of Watson with the 34th pick?
Take receivers with good hands. Stay put and take Pierce/Tolbert and another player. We've seen this act before when he shotgunned the position with big, athletic guys with questionable hands. NONE got a second contract with the team.
who?

https://packerswire.usatoday.c...wr-christian-watson/ He is already working on it.
He is like the girl with the curls. I know its not the scientific pick but I still like it. I don't know if it is going to work out but I sure hope so and am going to think positive about it.

Yeah, I think I'd be full poopy diaper if it wasn't for his utility in the run game. Can get away with more straight up athleticism in that respect.
Like Henry said, heβs got multiple ways his athleticism can be used. Jet sweeps, Kick Returns, situational deep threat as a WR. He fits this team pretty well.
No doubt, his reputation for occasional drops can elicit fear of another JβMon Moore, but he is more highly regarded than Moore was.
A month or so ago, I listened to Chris Simms podcast and he listed his top 5 WRs. He put Watson above all the 1st rounders this year except Jameson Williams. Is Chris Simms the greatest talent evaluator? No, but heβs a knowledgeable guy that watches a ton of tape on these guys. That gives me hope Watsonβs going to be a solid pick if he stays healthy.

Like he has a choice.
Adams had legs for hands early. So did Sharpe.
Remember that?

He will take a sack.
Please tell me you are not comparing Sterling Sharpe to this guy.
JFC
Sharpe was Deebo before Deebo and played in a major conference.
donβt remember sharpe having bad hands. adams yes.
I'm not.
lofton had good hands
So does Allstate

Dropsies in rookie camp I believe. A reason he got short with the press iirc.
i hear hutson had pretty good hands
billy Schroeder. he had bad hands.
Heard the same.
The price was steep, quite possibly too steep, but at least the team took a step to improve what is obviously the weakest part of the team.
And personally, I am thrilled that we added some legitimate speed to our otherwise plodding receiving corps.
That 4.36 40 was at the Combine not his Pro Day, so Watson can really fly.
The opportunity is there for young Mr. Watson to make a huge impact in Green Bay ... and make it right away.
hope this guy ainβt billy Schroeder

Only until you submit a claim ... then they get a sudden case of the dropsies.
Now, a run on WRs. Good thing Gute βpaid too muchβ to trade up.
I want to see if he can get off the line with no problems at the NFL level. If Rodgers could sandlot it with Lazard in his first year there's no reason Watson can't do the same but he has to be able to get off the line fast.

Good read.
Big whine fest on PFT over this trade and the queens draft in general.

i remember he wouldnβt talk to the press but donβt recall that he dropped passes as a rookie. interesting.

Funny, but yeah, he doesnβt have a choice.
@Herschel posted:Drops are drops. The first job a receiver has is to CTFB.
That's a drop?

I don't think it was live games. Just some drops that he had during camp his rookie year. Did not like getting questioned about it.
BTW, IMHO, HOF!!!
sharpe was a stud no doubt
How he is not in the NFL HOF? I get it, it's a racket.
Gayle Sayers is in. Sharpe is not.
Not OK.
@Brak posted:Adams had legs for hands early. So did Sharpe.

So did Lofton. I remember James dropping a pass and Lofton flipping off the crowd. Memorable moment
Check out the rosters from the Sharpe years. Defenses had one guy to stop. One.
Couldn't do it. This went on for years. Years.
Broke records. I mean.
@Floridarob posted:So did Lofton. I remember James dropping a pass and Lofton flipping off the crowd. Memorable moment
That never happened and shut up about it! He never did anything wrong.
EVER!
And still doesn't!
STOP RIGHT NOW!

Heβs a little bigger, probably not as fast, but close. One thing Watson has that Schroeder didnβt is multiple years of college football experience. Schroeder played only 1 year of college football and at the D 3 level.
Schroder really was a freak athlete whose didnβt play as fast as his track speed measurables were, but he was at least a decent WR for a few years. Schroeder claimed he had a 44 inch vertical and ran a 4.26. I question those measurables, but I do believe he was legitimately athletic enough to compete towards a position as an Olympic decathlete.
