So what was your master plan for addressing the WR situation? Sit pat at 53 and choose from whoever was left? Choose someone else in place of Watson with the 34th pick?

Take receivers with good hands. Stay put and take Pierce/Tolbert and another player. We've seen this act before when he shotgunned the position with big, athletic guys with questionable hands. NONE got a second contract with the team.

Rock just remarked that he seemed to be more athlete than WR. Still, he is a great blocker, RAC and big hands. He looks like a great project who can take the top off the defense while improving.

Yeah, I think I'd be full poopy diaper if it wasn't for his utility in the run game.  Can get away with more straight up athleticism in that respect.

Like Henry said, he’s got multiple ways his athleticism can be used.  Jet sweeps, Kick Returns, situational deep threat as a WR.  He fits this team pretty well.

No doubt, his reputation for occasional drops can elicit fear of another J’Mon Moore, but he is more highly regarded than Moore was.

A month or so ago, I listened to Chris Simms podcast and he listed his top 5 WRs.  He put Watson above all the 1st rounders this year except Jameson Williams.  Is Chris Simms the greatest talent evaluator?  No, but he’s a knowledgeable guy that watches a ton of tape on these guys.  That gives me hope Watson’s going to be a solid pick if he stays healthy.

The price was steep, quite possibly too steep, but at least the team took a step to improve what is obviously the weakest part of the team.

And personally, I am thrilled that we added some legitimate speed to our otherwise plodding receiving corps.

That 4.36 40 was at the Combine not his Pro Day, so Watson can really fly.

The opportunity is there for young Mr. Watson to make a huge impact in Green Bay ... and make it right away.

hope this guy ain’t billy Schroeder

He’s a little bigger, probably not as fast, but close.  One thing Watson has that Schroeder didn’t is multiple years of college football experience.  Schroeder played only 1 year of college football and at the D 3 level.

Schroder really was a freak athlete whose didn’t play as fast as his track speed measurables were, but he was at least a decent WR for a few years.  Schroeder claimed he had a 44 inch vertical and ran a 4.26.  I question those measurables, but I do believe he was legitimately athletic enough to compete towards a position as an Olympic decathlete.
