Like we've done in previous off seasons, we will create a topic to discuss Packer moves made during the off season. And this year due to cap issues there is likely to be quite a few.

Here's a rather interesting comment from Douglas. Perhaps he's a Packer in 2022:

His agent probably hates him.

Packer free agents.

packperfect2 Packers free agents in 2022:
1. Davante Adams
2. De'Vondre Campbell
3. Rasuel Douglas
4. Robert Tonyan
5. Kevin King
6. Chandon Sullivan
7. Lucas Patrick
8. Dennis Kelly
9. MVS
10. EQ
11. Tyler Lanchester
12. Bojo
13. Oren Burks
For the Complimentary Draft we are projected to receive a
4th and 7th rounder for Cory Linsey and Jamaal Williams

MLF would be an idiot to let Getsy also go to Denver. If Hackett is hired, he can find his own OC, Gesty stays put and can be promoted to OC here.

12 and 17 are tied together...one isn't coming back without the other.

If 12 comes back, it's going to be a "will retire a Packer" deal. My guess is 3 years max. They will sign Tae to a 5-year deal, heavily loaded in the first 3 years (IF he comes back).

Something that can't be underestimated as to the fate of this squad....the unprecedented, repeated kicks in the balls to the OL. 69 was supposed to be back mid-season. Elgton wasn't supposed to blow his ACL. Myers was brought in to replace an All Pro, got hurt and lost critical snaps in his development. Turner got hurt. Kelly wasn't supposed to be the starting RT in the playoffs.

And that says nothing for Tonyan who was a major weapon last year, being out most of the season.

This team got dealt the shittiest injury hand of any team this year...and they were the #1 seed.

If I were GM for a day:

packperfect2 Packers free agents in 2022:
1. Davante Adams - tag and trade (he won't come back without 12)
2. De'Vondre Campbell - keep
3. Rasuel Douglas - keep
4. Robert Tonyan - keep
5. Kevin King - cut (call the Uber to pick him up)
6. Chandon Sullivan - cut
7. Lucas Patrick - keep if deal is reasonable (good for depth and versatility)
8. Dennis Kelly - keep if deal is reasonable (might need him if Bak's issues continue)
9. MVS - keep if deal is reasonable (only because you can't replace the entire WR group and he's a legit deep threat)
10. EQ - cut
11. Tyler Lanchester - cut
12. Bojo - keep
13. Oren Burks - cut* (see "Kevin King")
For the Complimentary Draft we are projected to receive a
4th and 7th rounder for Cory Linsey and Jamaal Williams

Like the way you think.

Ideally, you have to find a way to keep Jaire Alexander.  He’s a top 3-4 cover corner in the league and you pair him up with Stokes and that’s as good a starting duo as there is.

If the money is right, you make a reasonable effort to keep guys like Tonyan and Lucas Patrick and MVS and Bojo.  Maybe Campbell too, but I think at least one or two teams may throw big money at him.  Same deal with Rasual Douglas.

You cut Z, Lowry and Cobb and trade Rodgers and take back picks and not players and you now have 7M to play with. Cut Preston and Amos and now you are up to 29M in cap space.  Enough to extend Jaire and Patrick and Tonyan and Bojo and MVS and sign the draft picks.

Assuming you trade w/Denver and hope you get their 1 and 2 this year and 1 and 2 next year that’s a start.   But you’ll need at least another WR, another pass rusher, another DE, and some other breaks to fall your way in the draft and FA.  Ugh.

Adams is the only big-money free agent so I could see any of them back, maybe most.

1. Davante Adams - Keep with extended years. He'll be expensive.
2. De'Vondre Campbell - I doubt he gets  a huge offer. May be back unless some otehr team gets stupid.
3. Rasuel Douglas - Same as Campbell
4. Robert Tonyan - Rodgers makes him. Bring back if cheap.
5. Kevin King - Depends on Douglas
6. Chandon Sullivan - Bring back if cheap
7. Lucas Patrick - Love to keep him, but likely gets starter money somewhere and Packers have a lot of guys behind him.
8. Dennis Kelly - Walks. They have a number of guys behind him.
9. MVS - Bring back on moderate deal
10. EQ - Walks
11. Tyler Lancaster - Walks unless comes back for rotational guy money.
12. Bojo - Punters aren't big money and they gave up a pick. Back.
13. Oren Burks - Should come back fairly cheap and keep one of the few good ST players you have.

The cap moves will be interesting. It's a good draft year for Edge guys, so Z and Preston likely restructure heavily or gone.

The tricky part of tagging and trading Adams is what does Adams do, and how soon would you be able to trade him?  19 million is a lot of jack to tie up on a guy you know doesn't want to be there.  Agree on pretty much everything else.  For sure cut King, Sullivan, EQ, Lancaster, Burks and let Cobb walk.

Adams tells his agent to go out there and find him the best deal.   The kicker is that if the team that offers it is not top 15 in draft, they have to send us a 1st and a 3rd.   If it is top 15, we take the 1st.

Ya don't like that, sit out.

I think MLF is living in fantasy land if he thinks they can keep Rodgers (at 46M) and not gut the team.   If they rework his deal, they are just pushing more dead money into the future.  That’s great if you are coming off a Super Bowl victory, but this team is not.

There is virtually no realistic scenario to keep Rodgers and Adams on the team unless they cut Z, Preston, Cobb, Crosby, Lowry, and Amos.  That’s 5 1/2 starters.  And they likely wouldn’t be able to afford Jaire either.  Sure, it’s possible they could maybe bring back guys like Tonyan and Campbell and Douglas and MVS and scrubs like Sullivan and Lancaster but that’s not getting them back to being competitive.  Like really competitive.

The biggest questions with Tonyan is when will he be ready to play full time and what will his speed be?  Keeping that in mind I draft Jake Fergusson if he is available, even if it is the 1st round.  I also let MVS and EQ walk. You can draft college guys who will be cheaper who can do what they don't do.  Then get some DL depth in draft or FA.   Try to keep Rasul and Douglas and Jaire.  Goodbye King too.

Flame away all.

Isn't Yosh a restricted FA?  If so, you slap a first round tender on him.  Shouldn't be to expensive.

First-round tender: One-year contract worth the greater of (a) $4.766 million or (b) 110 percent of the player's prior-year base salary. If the player's original team decides not to match an offer sheet signed with another team, it is entitled to a first-round draft pick from the player's new team. Unless received two days or later prior to the NFL draft, draft compensation for each tender is due in the same league year as the offer sheet is signed.
