The flea flicker was a genius call. I don’t recall the exact scenario, but we were half expecting them to just run out the clock and he came with that call.
The deep pass to Watson late in the 4th was really bad. It was 3rd down after the long Love run. The Lions sent the house and instead of standing tall and throwing a good ball, he bailed and tossed a weak floater that was 10 to 15 yards short.
He didn’t even get hit. In that scenario he needs to either over throw and hope Watson can get to it, to keep it safe, or eat the ball. The wimpy response could have cost us big time.

This one?
I know they heated him up but just make a *slightly* better throw and the game is over. pic.twitter.com/gXYE3yeMAu

That's a tough throw with 350 lbs of human screaming into his face. Looks to me like he didn't get hit because he got rid of it before setting his feet. He steps into that and he's getting wrecked. Protect yourself at all times in a situation like that, imo. 71 got beat pretty quick.

An insignificant play that was never close to being intercepted. Given a little pass protection that play could be made but to single that play out for any reason? If Love gets flattened and injured standing in on that pass rush I wonder what this dunce would be saying.

Yes.. stand tall and make the throw or bail. That weak throw falling back is disaster in the making.

If the RCB sees that ball he picks and takes it back to the 40 at least. Instead of starting the drive inside the 20 d scoring with under 1 min and 2 timeouts, they are scoring with a min plus and all timeouts. Totally different game.
That was a horrid play, he got lucky.

If this was 1985 and that was Perry coming to jump off the top rope, agree. This is 2023, worst he can do is lay a shoulder into his chest and roll off of him.
If he does drive, 15 yards and the game is over.
Problem with that play was Myers completely whiffs on his block. Pretty revealing you want to blame it on Love.

I’m not blaming the play on Love, I’m saying his reaction to the blown block was piss poor situational football.
Either step up and make throw while taking a hit, expected of QBs, bail out of the pocket, or even just eat the sack. Worst thing you can do there is what he did. If we can’t admit that, then you’re Love drunk.
It turned out not to hurt us. But, how many late 4th quarter interceptions have? He cannot be doing that, especially when we have the lead. If you don’t think he’s hearing that in film review, you’re dead wrong.
They're not coaching him to eat the sack or step up and take the hit there. It's 3rd and 10 and they're up 29-14 with 2:59 left in the game. The Lions are blitzing with 6. There's no hot read to check down to. The RB and TE are both supporting max protect (shoutout to Tucker Kraft for doing so well 1 on 1 with Hutchinson. That's a wild mismatch without help) .
The CB hesitates to make sure there isn't a check down and then is too busy shitting his pants running as fast as he can with his back turned to even think about an INT. If he looks to track it slows him down and he's nowhere near it. The list of CBs in the NFL that can make that INT is short and Cameron Sutton isn't on it.
If we're imagining bad scenarios the list of negative things that can happen on that play is a lot longer if he steps up or tries to escape the pocket. Decision was fine and the throw was better than ok given the pressure.
There's plenty of plays to critique him on. This isn't one of them, imo. 71 on the other hand...
Looks like a good throw away to me. No Lion DB was going to catch it ever.
Could he have thrown a better ball in spite of the pressure? Possibly, but that's pretty weak stuff.
When Jordan Love has gotten into trouble it’s the bad mechanics like not setting your feet or getting your shoulders squared up.
Aaron Rodgers probably makes that play but I think he’s got a stronger arm anyway.
In the end, I wasn’t happy about the missed opportunity but it wasn’t a pick and he didn’t take a big sack.

It's 3rd and 10, 3 minutes left in the game, a 15 point lead, the Packers just ran 2 plays up the gut obviously trying to kill the clock. If you want to complain about that play it should be about the play call. As I alluded to earlier in the thread the Packers were no longer playing against the Lions they were playing against the clock. It wasn't close to being a disaster.

Is that a serious comment? The worst he can do is lay a shoulder into his chest and roll off of him? The Lions would love to take Love out for the season. The game was won and it was a bad call.

Myers needs to join Barry on the unemployment line.
Speaking of Myers, loved the play where they pulled him to pass block Hutchinson. Very creative plan that paid dividends in this game. Kudos to the offensive staff.

This. They didn’t necessarily need a first down, but they needed to burn some clock or at least force Detroit into using a timeout. It was nice to see something other than another Dillon up the middle for two yards play, and it was nice to see MLF stay aggressive for a change, but if you’re going to pass, at least make it a high percentage pass. A long pass to Watson worked earlier in the game, but it’s nowhere near a high percentage play.
Another factor in how we played the last part of the game, both offensively and defensively is that it is so much more difficult now to recover an onside kick (last season only 5%). If only they had changed the rule before the 2014 playoffs!
Do I wish the throw was better? Of course.... we've seen and grown accustomed to watching not one....but TWO HoF QBs make that throw....A LOT.
I was actually more mad at Watson for not adjusting 😆
Just my opinion, but the only reason it even looks remotely catchable is because of Watson's speed. 10's inside the tackle box and all his check downs are blocking. There's no one short to avoid the intentionaI grounding. He's gotta go deep somewhere and fast.
It would be a lot more interesting discussion if 71 holds for another 3/4 of a second and Love has time to set. He's real stubborn about going almost all arm on throws that would benefit so much from using his legs as a base even when he has the time.
I hope I'm wrong, but the longer it goes I think it's going to be his one bad habit trait like Rodgers' had holding the ball too long. Just have to live with it. If he doesn't obsess over fixing it, it's going to get real annoying because it's going to make his tough stretches real ugly and he does so much else so well.
It's hard now to get on him because it's more important that he plays fast within the structure of the play, but if he wants to get beyond NFL starter to top 5 franchise QB it has to get fixed.

If Myers even offers slight resistance it's probably a TD.
Myers is approaching Newman territory for me.
Myers might be approaching Newman territory. Does anybody think he can play guard?

Myers has not been good, but Runyan has been worse. Herman has him as his lowest rated player for the season. In addition, Rhyan has graded well in limited snaps.

What gets me is Watson was 4 for 5 with all 4 receptions in the first qtr ! WTF
We beat the Lions on Thanksgiving and here I am griping. Sheeesh

I like this guy!!
YOOOOOGE!!!!
Love is a very humble guy. He gives everybody credit for the good and takes responsibility for his failures. It's obvious why he's the team leader and his teammates are so dedicated to him.
Brett Favre was on the Go Long podcast with Tyler Dunn and shared huge praise for Jordan Love’s big moment.
“I like what I see. And I think I said in one of the first shows that we did, I like how the players respond to Jordan.” Favre said. “To me an element to success is do the guys rally around you? Do they wanna win for you? Now they should wanna win anyway, but there is something to be said about being likable, being a team leader, guys saying “look, I’ll jump in the fox hole with that guy any day of the week” and I think Jordan loves has shown that throughout, but the last couple weeks man he’s turned it on.”
What a huge compliment to have those words coming from Brett, a man who is probably the most likable on field leader in NFL history.
“The guys are eager to run over there and celebrate with him.” Favre continued. “Listen, I don’t know Jordan Love, all I know is what I see. So you don’t see the locker room, you don’t see the practices, you don’t see the meeting rooms and how that relationship is between he and his teammates. And maybe I see things differently just because I played and have been in those locker rooms, but I see something. It’s one thing to be liked and loved and rallied around, and it’s another thing to win games and he’s proven he can do both.”
The NFL Hall of Famer went on to hone in on how the coach and quarterback seem to be in sync.
“Jordan looked awesome, so you know the potential is definitely there…To me, LaFleur and Jordan there was an ebb and flow, like I’m sure LaFleur probably on the plane back was thinking to himself up there “that was clicking, it was just pick one from the rolodex and Jordan will make it work.” Because everything that they ran, if it wasn’t completed, it could have been and could have been a big play and no situation was too big for him [Thursday]”
Favre also spoke on the renewed enthusiasm around the team.
“I guess the best way I can put it, is before yesterday’s game the remaining games at Lambeau, people would have been, I don’t want to say eager, but more willing to “hey you want to go see the Packers play, I’ll give you four tickets, we’re going on vacation. Now That’s the best way to put in now that people are going to ‘I’m gonna bypass hunting, I’m going to go watch them play,’ The reset button has been pressed.”
