Maybe it's not an excuse, but it's certainly a factor. It's one that slides the advantage to the team with the much more experienced QB. We've had that advantage almost always over the past few decades and now it's our turn to take some lumps. That's just the NFL. Until 10 sorts out the little details that swing the advantage back in our favor we're going to fall on the sword for a bit. Hopefully it's just this year.

Tom Brady ain’t putting up 10 points with that o line performance.   Experience wasn’t the factor.  He couldn’t step into throws, he couldn’t get to 2nd options, and he couldn’t escape.

The entire interior line needs to be upgraded.   Newman, Meyers, and Runyon are all negative players.   You can live with Runyon  if he is next to a good center and tackle, but he ain’t holding his own.

At tackle, we are almost as fucked.

knock off the IQ code word stuff about Quay.   The game was over and everyone has to make a bid deal about the call which the officials almost didn’t notice.    30 yard rushing?  And yous people are throwing the IQ comments around.

I think that's on the coaches unless Walker was sleeping in that meeting. That was a rule change because of Kam Chancellor and the type of thing that should be stressed every year in preseason.

Did having 12 stunt MLFs growth as a play caller, or is he just not clever or knowledgeable enough to fit a game plan to the available players? And the genius running the Defense…everyone knows that is on MLF for not upgrading. May have to move on from Eyebrows at the end of the year, but probably won’t until “Who, me?” leaves.

The problem with MLF is that he's won a lot of games in the past and no matter how bad it gets this season he's here through 2024.

Maybe that's a good thing. MLF can be here babysitting the toddlers and then a talented coach can come in and turn the boys into men.

Switch the coaches and we're talking about how Dan Campbell's tough guy talk can go take a long walk off a short pier. The DET roster is more talented where it counts top to bottom and especially along the lines.

I'd take it a step further and say the entire line needs to be upgraded.

Are the teams at the same point in the competitive cycle?

Since both nearly missed the playoffs last year, the answer is either yes or Packers are trending down.    You pick.

Before answering, please take into consideration their draft classes performance tonight vs ours.   At best you could say LaPorta / LVN. Reed shows, but they got 4 guys showing..  no bueno.   Then go out another year and look at the draft classes.  Walker, Wyatt, Watson / Hutchinson.     I’ll trade all 3 for Hutch alone today.

This right freakin here! And if Rhyan can't beat out Newman, he must be paralyzed. The interior of this line is shit, and Jenkins covered up Myers a lot. You're ded nuts on this one, Runyan is serviceable but only with great players around him.

That entire game was played in our side of the LOS. The Lions have been drafting O-Linemen at the top of the draft forever. They've got some maulers. The strategy seemed to be to "out-tough" them. Seems to have gotten baited into the exact game Detroit wanted to play.

Our roster is built on speed and quickness. Packers organization hears all week that they're perceived as weak. Lafleur says, "We'll see who's soft!" Lions lick their chops, coach says, "Thank you", and proceeds to ram it down our throats. Played their game...

No one can deny injuries are a factor. But can we honestly say having Jaire and Campbell out there tonight would have made a difference? I mean, this defense has been exposed even when healthy. The Lion offense was so far ahead of this defense it was laughable. It's likely that Alexander's contribution to this game would have included numerous hold on to the ball carrier and get dragged five more yards type plays.

As for the o line issues, MLF has more control over the offense than any other part of the roster. It looks bad enough that Barry can't utilize his guys in any proper way, but the offense is Matt's baby. Anyone would be at a disadvantage with two pro bowl guys out, but that's where coaching becomes so vital. If you need to dial it back for the whole offense, back to lower risk stuff that keeps your qb upright, option plays to the short side of the field and backwards wr screens are an odd way to go. The problem wasn't limited to the side of the missing pro bowlers. The problem was everywhere you looked. That speaks so much more to MLF than anyone on the field tonight.

Jared Goff has played 104 games and been to a Super Bowl. He's 29 and in the prime of his career. Jordan Love is on his 5th start. He has so much to learn in game. It's OK to give the other team credit for their strengths. They're built to win now.

Hutchison was a #2 overall pick. We haven't had any pick that high since the 90's.

I saw a tweet last night, maybe somebody posted it in the game thread?

"So now the Lions are the new Packers, the Bears are the new Lions, the Vikings are the new Bears and the Packers are the new Vikings?"

Yes, 1 game proves all this. BRILLIANT!!

I wish it were only one game. The Lions have beat us 4 in a row now including knocking us out of playoff contention last year and moving ahead of us for first place in the division last night in dominant fashion. The season is still young of course and anything can happen but the Lions appear to be a far superior team at this point.

Were the Bears really any better than the Lions as an agregate since 1992?

I guess there was the Grossman 15 minutes with the Super Bowl loss and they've had six double-digit win seasons vs. the Lions 3, but not exactly a good run.

I’ll give the Lions credit.  A number of their offensive linemen suffered through some awful years, but the Lions have managed to hang onto them and they have developed into a legitimate top 3 or 4 group in the NFL.  I consider Philly number 1 but the Lions might even be as high as number 2 in O-Line quality.

Coming into this game, I thought I read somewhere that the Pack ranked #1 in O-Line performance coming into this game but clearly without Bahk and Jenkins this is a pretty mediocre line at best.  Let’s hope we see some surprises develop on the O-Line as the season wears on, but last night was just a huge dud of a performance by the whole line.
