I was just looking back at old team photos. Itโs amazing how much bigger the staff is now.

Rashan Gary is entering the fifth season of his rookie deal and hasn't been extended yet. Asked his agent, Ian Clarke, if Gary is willing to negotiate in season:

I also have the OVER for total wins (+7.5) a bet I have not lost since I've started betting it.
I'm counting on the defense, special teams and running game to carry the day. Everyone is focused on the QB so much. He could be last years Justin Fields and I think this team wins 8 games.

Matt Schneidman mentioned at 18:21 on John Kuhn's radio show today that Rashan Gary doesn't have a traditional agent and is using a lawyer instead. I'm not sophisticated enough in the nuances to know all the differences, but I can't imagine it's a positive for settling on an agreement. Still hoping they'll have an extension signed before the season starts.

I'd think it would depend on the lawyer's specialty/focus.
Long time friend, an attorney, has built a very successful practice working exclusively in mediation, with a significant amount the work in employment mediations.
He's helped me on my employments contracts over the years.

Best part about employment contracts or documents is the job description. It can be one or several pages, but it always ends with "all other duties assigned." So, really, it could just be one sentence which would be "whatever the hell we ask of you."
This isn't the year...they will play a tougher schedule than last year. Middling team at best.

Colts wanted Christian Watson for Jonathan Taylor. Have to assume Gute laughed his ass off and promptly hung up the phone. Then laughed some more.
Give up a just-coming-into-his-own second-year speedy, athletic receiver for a third-year RB who has a ton of miles on him (college and pro), can't play until week 5, and who has fumbled seven times in two years? If Gute made that trade, he'd be run out of town.
He offered 2 mid round picks. Hopefully those were RD3's. Not sure what the plan would have been to work him into the offense.
He could have been used much like Jones is now with Dillon the odd man out. It would be interesting to see a Jones-Taylor combo as Taylor is also a pretty good receiver. It would mean no dropoff in dynamic running skills, and the D would have to possibly cover Jones and Taylor out of the same backfield. If Indy had accepted a couple of mid-round picks, it would have made things really interesting. But, no way do you give up Watson for Taylor.
I don't think I'd make that deal either, but Watson has a long way to go before he's in Taylor's class. Love the potential, and they're different positions, but c'mon. Taylor has been pretty unreal for the 2 1/2 seasons he's played.
Taylor is clearly elite. My point was, locker room wise. Whose snaps get reduced? What do you do with Dillon? I guess his contract is coming up and he walks but that RB room seemed pretty tight. Taylor isn't the pounder Dillon is.
Not trading Calvin Johnson Jr. For any running back. Mid round draft picks....sure but I'm certain Gutey was laughing as he hung up the phone. Colts aren't interested in trading JT yet. They're asking for the world to see if anyone will bite. But they might trade him....in a few weeks. Let's see what happens.
