We had Cobb, as our vet, last year.  Why should we pay a lot of money, to a guy like Hopkins?  What would that do, except to take snaps away, from everybody else. These young guys have to grow together. Let them play and develop.

I never said a lot of money.  2 mill is as high as I would go.   If he wants say 6 mill, adios buddy.

Anyone care to opine as to the holdup of the first three picks signing a contract? Not a huge deal, I guess. But the parameters are pretty much set, at least for the first and second rounders.

From articles I've read in the past few years, early round draft picks have barely anything to negotiate anymore so teams aren't as concerned about getting those players (TM?) signed like in years prior. Everyone knows what the player will be signing for. Clubs also aren't in a hurry to sign early draft picks because it also keeps the player poor for longer in the offseason which makes the player more dependent on team facilities when in the area and less able to do stupid things before reporting to camp. Agents don't care as it's not worth fighting because they'll get there money without doing much work. The work came in helping get the player drafted.

Sorry for your loss.

He 'sounds' like a good man. Hard-working and well respected says a lot.
I'll bet his life was interesting, to say the least.

I imagine scouting to be a job that requires a lot of sacrifices; the constant travel and no/little home life, long hours, even longer hours when they are in the home office in addition to the constant pressure to produce results while dealing with the politics of executive management.
God bless the ones that can do it!

Yeah, cuz posts on a message board full of "fans" that mostly have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to evaluating young QBs, is a highly credible source for information on how J-Love looked out there.

On the road in a hostile environment in KC for his first ever start. J-Love looked good out there. A trained eye could see the talent is there. The arm strength and a quality release of the football. The footwork was not perfect at that time, but the base was solid. A lot of positives from that game. Jordan took those positives, and ignored, didn't even pay attention to any hater BS from the butthurt failures at life online. Any of that is 100% meaningless. From that game forward Jordan only focused on developing and growing his game even more.

The last year or so under Tom Clements wing, Jordan has looked like a superstar in practice. Then he got limited time in Philly this past season and looked extremely confident and strong out there.

J-Love is now ready. It is time! Yes, there will be a couple bumps in the road in his first season as the man, but the future is bright at QB in Green Bay. Anyone that thinks J-Love is going to be a complete disaster this season, and going forward, is in for a rude awakening.

It is the new guy’s duty to wash some balls.  Might as well be Jordan Love’s.
