I'm hoping X and other vets keep Bull on the straight and narrow. I suspect he's smart enough to learn quickly, but a LOT of UGA players from Kirby Smart's program lack maturity.

I also hope that Hafley is the type of coach who actually prioritizes accountability. Something that has been missing for (too) many years.

When you get everything handed to you on a silver platter, consistent accolades, and lots of free stuff, why grow up or be accountable?

Bullard is making a name for himself already and I love that he has a DB-centric DC leading him. More from CheeseheadTV here:

Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley raved about Bullard during his press conference earlier this week.

“He's a sharp guy,” Hafley told reporters. “His ability to learn and process in those two days was impressive. You get a guy who can play that fast and can take what he learned in the meeting room and bring it out to the field, and he's got a chance.”

He also admired Hafley’s versatile skill set. “Just loved his tape. Loved the way he played,” Hafley continued. “He's a physical guy. He can run, he can cover, he can play deep, he can play in the slot, he can blitz. He's bigger when you see him.”

"Defensive passing game coordinator Derrick Ansley was also impressed by what he’s seen from Bullard so far. “He's just a phenomenal skill set. He can do a lot of different things. He's smart, can pick it up quickly, very instinctive, and when he gets to the point of contact, he gets there with a chip on his shoulder.”

Cam across this comment from Mr BobGray who writes about the Packers from time to time

"Yeah, this guy has such a good feel for the defensive backfield.  Love seeing those players who understand both the physical realities of the game and the theoretical game behind it.

Physical side is stuff like man coverage, playing the ball, tackling.

Theoretical side is the understanding of angles, spacing, alignments, the patterns of leverage and vulnerability.  Bullard has the feel for space and the game behind the game mixed with the ability to come downhill like a freight train."

Pairing Bullard with veteran Xavier McKinney is pretty exciting. It frequently takes Safeties some time to put it all together... but Bullard has a great head start, a DC who specializes in DB play and a veteran mentor to help him along

Here's another item on Mr. Bullard and his incredible versatility via our friends at PackersWire

"In 2022, Bullard was primarily a slot defender — he lined up there on 510 of his snaps, with 64 snaps in the box, 20 in the slot, and just 12 at free safety.

In 2023, Bullard’s profile flipped completely. That’s when he played 362 snaps in the deep third, 144 in the slot, 80 in the box, and just three on the line. Smart needed Bullard to dominate at a key position he’d rarely played before, and that’s exactly when Bullard did. Last season, he allowed 14 catches on 26 targets for 119 yards, 68 yards after the catch, no touchdowns, two interceptions, five pass breakups, and an opponent passer rating of 34.0. Among FBS safeties playing at least 50% of their defenses’ snaps, that ranked sixth-lowest.

On both single-high and two-deep reps, Bullard immediately displayed many of the traits you want in that type of player — from the understanding of route concepts, to the range to work from the middle of the field to the boundary."
