Sorry, still figuring out how to reply. Love didnβt play great, but had the defense done their job for 60 minutes, he mightβve won his first game.
@Packiderm posted:Here's a positive. Packers had won 5 games in a row. If they beat the Loins to win the Superb Owl they would have to run the streak to 9. How many teams do that?
TB won 8 straight to close out last season ... so not 9.
But KC won 9 in a row on their way to a SB in 2019.
I understand the desire to stay "positive" or look on the bright side.
But I hope that after giving up 34, 28, 30, 30, and 37 points in 5 of the final 7 games (against the likes of non-playoff QBs Cousins, Tyler Huntley, Fields, and Goff), MLF is pissed off enough so that we don't have to endure yet another passive, playoff meltdown by the defense.

@Goalline posted:Your faith donβt mean shit to me. If you can give me technical reason why Love will never develop I would love to hear it.
Because his pocket awareness is absolute dog shit, and he consistently throws behind people.
As long as 12 wants to be a Packer, heβs never going to get time in the saddle to βwork those things out.β
Well that settles it then. Need to trade Rodgers so Love can develop.

Yeah, he hasnβt demonstrated any kind of pocket awareness. I agree. Does it come with experience? Who knows? Favre had it at the beginning. Not actually sure about Rodgers because he held the ball forever when he was younger.
Man MLF sounded pissed in his presser. Was not happy with the loss. So much so that at one point the room moderator says "ok guys thanks for the questions" to end the presser and MLF cuts him off and says "I'm not done yet" and takes another 10 mins of questions from the media.
Most coaches would have gotten out of that room as soon as they could. MLF doesn't shy away from taking questions after a loss.
It's certainly not everyone, but an abnormally large part of the Packers fanbase is either actively cheering for Jordan Love to fail or absolutely certain he will fail. It's mostly out of love for 12 (I think) but it's still sad.

Agree with this and it's premature to make any evaluation on Love. MLF was rightfully pissed at a defense that's been trending in the wrong direction for weeks. Coaching malpractice if opponents don't attempt trick plays against them given the lack of discipline they displayed yesterday.
I definitely am not one that wants to see Love fail. I was so pissed at Rodgers this past offseason, I wanted him gone and for the Love era to begin.
That said, my own eyes tell me that Jordan Love has so many weaknesses, heβd be in the bottom 25 percent of NFL starting QBs. He can get better, but heβll have to make a huge leap in training camp next year to give an indication heβs ready to be an NFL starter. As someone else said, he currently looks like a practice squad/3rd string emergency QB which is not what you want to be seeing from a 1st round QB 2 years in.
Considering his lack of playing time 2 years is not enough. Iβll have my decision in preseason next year.

Yup, those guys, 2 of the best ever to play the position figured it out. Dozens of lesser talented players never did.

I was thinking of Farve's 1992 game against Cincinnati and Rodgers 2007 game agains Dallas...The Dallas game in particular was one where you could see the Packers would be fine without Farve.
I hated the Love pick, but I like him so far. With a little experience I could see him being a great game manager that could open and extend drives with his legs.
If ..and back to presidential comparison--if Kennedy would have stayed out of Texas...but, if somebody gets a chip on that blitzer, Love has a fraction of a second to right the pass to St Brown he is the talk of the NFL this week. Instead it's ...meh
I just think no matter who the next QB is they will be under a microscope following Rodgers and Favre before him. Some fans will find any reason to hate the next guy.
WTF...post-game presser from a wiring closet?

Where is the ransom demand?

A second year, first round pick at quarterback steps in for an injured first ballot hall of famer.
Hereβs how it went: pic.twitter.com/CVhnoYRNwG
I'd really forgotten how bad AR was early in his career. Organization spent a second-rounder on Brian Brohm so apparently they weren't sure either.
Bak left game because he was tired.
Quitter. I was tired too, but I kept watching.
I remember seeing AR in the preseason, I think his 2nd year. We were sitting behind the GB bench and everything about him said "not an NFL QB". I don't recall the first time I saw him do something that made me say "whoah, wait a minute!". I don't recall if I saw his first or second game action of his career.

To me it was the Dallas game, but that was his third year, right? Flashes of excellence that night.

Yup, those were their coming out games. Rodgersβ was in year 3 and Favreβs was in year 2 in the NFL. Give young kids time to develop. Unless their attitude just sucks, give them time.

Bust!
I didn't see much pocket awareness on that strip sack.

Clearly, you are not the only one. Most on this board have forgotten. They are saying the same things about Love that Packers' fans made back then about Rodgers.

He looked exhausted. Definitely looks like he has put on weight too.
No one calling themselves a Packers fan should want anyone on the squad to fail...that's Vikings/Bears level shit fandom.
But it doesn't mean we can't have discourse.
Right now there is zero to gain from dealing Love away...best case you MIGHT get the 4th round pick you dealt away to move up to get him. No way in hell he's getting anywhere near a 1st round pick...unless there is some desperate GM out there that is in love with him.
So continue to develop him, sign 12 to an extension he wants, and let JL become a backup...and if he shows a glimmer of tallant, maybe then you can trade him away. Only thing for certain is, right now, he's not ready to be a starting NFL QB.

That was a 12-4 Pats team that lost in the AFC title game vs an 8-8 Packers squad that didn't go to the playoffs.
Nub and the staff knew he was getting most of the reps Sunday, against a bottom 3 team...he looked as prepared as he did vs KC. Could he be a "game manager," and start in this league? Possibly...but is that really what you want from a 1st round QB?
@Chongo posted:WTF...post-game presser from a wiring closet?
They should keep every player in lockdown for the next week to kill any chance of getting the COVID. After that practice only and quarantine the rest of the time until the playoffs start. Inconvenient but they would lessen the risk of losing key players for the most important games of the season.
