If this thread is suppose to be about what is wrong with the GB offense, I contribute my 4 cents worth.

1) I agree that the loss of coaching might be part of it.  Don't look now, but the NYG offense is starting to click.  Manning completed 75% of his passes yesterday.

2) I agree that AR might be worried about injury and that shows up in his lack of running when the opportunity presents itself.

3) I am also concerned that AR might not be totally healthy.  Against the Jets he had 6 under thrown balls, this week he had 5.  He has never had that many in any game prior to this year.

4) Even with all that, AR has thrown to 2 guys primarily - Nelson and Cobb.  Keep in mind Boykin got most of his receptions and yards after AR got hurt last year.  And it has been reported that he didn't throw much to Adams and Janis in TC - and not at all in preseason games.  If he isn't comfortable with Boykin, Adams, and Janis, he needs to start spending some informal time with them and get comfortable.  He will need them if he wants to do well this year.

5) Where are plays like the bubble screen?  Along with ARs runs they have disappeared.  Also, when the safeties start focusing on your wide outs, there needs to be something more to occupy their attention.  How about play action to the RB up the middle?  And when they did have one saftey deep and a safety and and CB on the other side of the field and everyone else in the box - which the Lions did several times - how about a slant across the middle?  The deep safety would be out of position, if the WR does his job right, the CB covering him will be on his outside, if the pass is on target, it can go for a lot of yards.  Trouble is GB never did that once against that defense.  There is nothing that the opposing defense doesn't expect.  So play calling is an issue IMO.

6) The problems with the running game are both play timing related and play calling related.  GB is a run twice and then pass early on, only to abandon it later when they need to pass.  All this plays into the hands of a defense with an aggressive line.  And against that kind of defense what I call quick openers need to be called occasionally.  Not one was called and GB rarely runs those anyway.  But there is nothing like making that DL work against itself.  And that not only affects how the RB runs, but how the OL blocks.

IMO these are the main ones.  When GB addresses these problems and decides to play with some discipline, they will improve.  Meanwhile the defense played well enough to win - congratulations to them.

I understand the concept of the no huddle, fast paced, K-Gun style offense, but what happened to milking the clock so the D can catch their breath? When you go 3 and out and you didn't huddle once, you just had a drive that encompassed 1.5 minutes and then you send your D back out there. That is awful. Save the no huddle crap for when you're actually having success, when you have the defense on the ropes and they're tired. Have a long sustained drive, score, and then put your well rested D back on the field. I also think that when you're going so fast that your OL can't catch their breath and that leads to mistakes on their part. Those guys get just as gassed as the DL, they're not marathon runners.

Looking at the pic, I count 10 Lions. Not sure if they have a deep S or not but I assume they do.

Based on what we see it's 3rd and 2. I have 3 issues with the play.

1. AR looks like he is moving forward while still being almost 8 yards behind the LOS. He has to complete an 8 yard pass to gain 2 yards.

2. Look at the routes being run on 3rd and 2.

3. No knowing if there's a deep safety or not, he still has single coverage on 2 of the 3 go routes. He can't not make the throw to one of those options. It's either going to be caught, dropped, or result in PI.

Kind of a hot mess all around to try and pick up 2 yards. Lacy looks the best option here. He's not getting much more than 3 yards with two guys on him fast, but he likely would have moved the chains.

RODGERS: β€œWe had some drops and obviously a couple of poor throws.”

RODGERS on the safety: β€œWe had the call that we liked. We just didn’t win at the point of attack.”

RODGERS on missed 4th down TD pass to Jordy: β€œHe ran a really nice route and I just missed the spot by a lot. It was a bad throw.”

RODGERS: on whether the injury or Olivia Munn is impacting him?: "Those are so idiotic it's not even worth responding to either one of those"

RODGERS: "Five letters for every body out there in Packerland today: R-E-L-A-X. Relax. We’re going to be OK.”

I love that one. However, something isn't right so we had to throw anything against the wall to see if it sticks. It worked for Romo!

We'll see after Sunday.....We'll see. This is as much of a must-win game as you can get in week #4.

I don't mean to be a prick (ask the 2 people who may know me) "Packdog", but shut the eff up. You're no Packer fan. You really think Rodgers is being a pussy? You may be posting like a pussy, and I'll accept your apology after this team turns things around. I'm not saying they're going to win the SB, but don't insult someone who has brought you what he has the past 6 years and shown his character or toughness.

Pussy.

Easy girls. Just being facetious toward all the over reaction going on after a loss in Detroit ??!!  Big shocker. As I posted in the + and - thread, no surprise that we went to Detroit and got shoved around. We do not match up well against physical defensive fronts on a fast track.  Suddenly Rodgers has become distracted by OM and his commercials ?? Nutty

So, no I don't think Rodgers is a pussy. He played really poorly Sunday though.   Tavis, my new friend , what time you coming over for the game this Sunday ?  I'll buy you a beer to make up for raising your BP. Will go back and edit my witty post with a emoticon, gotta prove my not missing a game since 1972 means I might be a "true" fan.

Now, MM on the other hand.....

I do, and I don't really give a **** what you or anybody else thinks.  He's playing like ****.  Complete and utter bull****.  I guess these days, there are a lot of folks who are Rodgers' fans first.

You watch that game again, and you tell me with a straight face that the majority of the blame goes to the play-calling.  You can pick a lot of clunkers in McCarthy's career, this game wasn't one of them.  The players own this one, and that starts with Rodgers.

If this team turns around, and I believe they will, it will have a hell of a lot more to do with coaching than anything else.

Sunday was a perfect storm of suck. The lack of adjustments on O sucked. The OL sucked. Even Sitton sucked. Lang sucked. Lacy sucked. Rodgers sucked. Pure suck.

Thought of something I've been wanting to ask but thought it might be too far out there. Screw it.

AR is a creature of film study and tendency study. With Detroit playing a secondary of guys he really had no way of preparing for did that effect the game plan and more importantly his pre snap reads? He had no idea what those 6 guys were going to do or where they were going to go. Dont know if they rolled the same coverage for 4 quarters or not but if they did and AR couldn't exploit it that's a special kind of suck.

Doesnt not change the fact that when plays were there he came up short. Was good to hear him own missing those plays on his show today.

Just an overall forgettable Sunday.

It's kind of Detroit part Deux. Chicago secondary could be 6 guys with about 7 plays worth of film. The good news is it should be pretty similar to what AR just saw.

More important. The OL better come out ready to lay some wood and Lacy better run like his starting nod is in question.

Cutler chewed up the Jets blitz last night. Need to get some pressure with 4. I wouldn't mind seeing Jayrone Elliott get time if Clay is inactive. Obvious passing downs only.

Have to think Peppers wants to pay Cutler back for ****ing his prime years. I liked Neal's scamper last week. Daniels is Daniels and it does look like things the game is slowing down for Datone. I do think Jayrone is a great spot duty guy this week If Clay can't go.

5 words I don't want to hear with Forte on the docket, "Brad Jones returns to practice"
