The NFL says it needs to review the court documents before making a decision on his future. We have seen the kids injuries and Adrian has been convicted of assault (albeit misdemeanor assault) so what documents are there to review? Thereโ€™s not really been any โ€œtime servedโ€ or a real suspension as far as the NFL is concerned, heโ€™s been paid the whole time. Mike Vick gets a banned from the NFL for over a year for abusing animals but Adrian Peterson abuses a human child and he gets a paid vacation? Makes a lot of sense. Ray Rice didnโ€™t even face criminal charges and he got an indefinite ban, Peterson has actually been convicted of assaulting a child! A 4 year old child! Question is, will Goodell actually do the right thing and ban this turd indefinitely or at least the rest of the season? We know that sorry excuse for an organization won't kick him to the curb so it will take the power of the NFL to make sure this guy gets what he deserves.

Of course what will really happen is that Goodell will come out with some stupidity about how he sat down with Adrian and he believes Adrian is truly sorry for what he did and how he believes in second chances.

No contest: in criminal trials in certain U.S. jurisdictions, is a plea where the defendant neither admits nor disputes a charge, serving as an alternative to a pleading of guilty or not guilty.

So the NFL has even more wiggle room.

Thanks for that clarification.  That shouldn't matter though, the pictures of just some of the kids injuries are out there so just like with the Ray Rice video we know he did it even though criminally he wasn't convicted. Peterson should get the same thing Ray Rice got or Goodell better have a really convincing explanation for why he deserves to be reinstated.

Why would they do that? They want him back.

This is a little bit of a hard one to gauge. People turned on Peterson pretty quickly, especially with it being so close to the Ray Rice incident. Public opinion really forced the NFL's hand with Ray Rice and Mike Vick so if there is still public outrage then the NFL may not have a choice. HOWEVER Peterson's case has definitely taken a backseat to other world events so there isn't constant media pressure on the NFL and they may try to sneak him back in and hope no one blows the whistle. Had the Peterson case not come up while the NFL was still under intense scrutiny I think this Peterson case probably would have been quietly resolved and he wouldn't have missed any time.

What the NFL and the Purple  and Ravens do is a side show......the justice system in this country needs  fixing.  Rice gets a slap on the wrist for knocking out a woman, Peterson gets a slap on the wrist for whupping a kid.

It's easier to get your moral outrage on toward a public figure like Goodell than some obscure prosecutor in New Jersey or Texas.  That and the big piles of money the NFL rakes in are what's driving this.

Paraphrased from Schefter and Werder:

Peterson will be reviewed under the Personal Conduct Policy. NFL requests he submit relevant info & meet with experts. Mandatory 6-game suspension w-o pay is very possible. He has missed 8 games, but was paid.

Am told pending conduct review of Adrian Peterson case was part of negotiated settlement on his status back in September. Expected

Adrian Peterson being on paid-leave since his situation arose is not considered discipline, source points out. Suspension looms.

Source: Letter to Adrian Peterson from NFL mentions Felony Injury to Child even though pleaded to misdemeanor, requests all info, photos too

Agree with you Goaline. I've got to admit that it's difficult to be objective about this since AP plays for MN, but letting the guy off the hook with "time served" just seems wrong. If you have read the articles on PFT the past couple days you would think the NFL is doing AP a huge disservice by delaying this. SHOCKING!!! I see now why many of you boycott the site. I hope the punishment in the end will be fair and justified. 6 more game w/o pay seems right.

A no contest plea is a conviction. It offers some protection against  possible civil action but that's it.

It appears Zimmer has the team trending in a positive direction and I'm not sure AP would be something he'd want or need. My guess is Goodell will make a decision that will make the issue moot.

@RapSheet: Per @GregAiello, appeals officer Harold Henderson has affirmed the Adrian Peterson discipline. Appeal denied.

@RapSheet: Harold Henderson said Peterson did not demonstrate that the process wasnโ€™t fair, and his rights were preserved. No basis to vacate.

@RapSheet: Appeals officer Harold Henderson: โ€œ(Petersonโ€™s) public comments do not reflect remorse or appreciation for the seriousness of his actions.โ€

@AlbertBreer: Adrian Peterson will be eligible for reinstatement on April 15, 2015. He will forfeit six game checks, per the league.

@mortreport: Thus, Peterson will lose a total of $4,147,058.82 of his $11.75 million base salary in 2014. He has been paid until todayโ€™s decision.

@RapSheet: If Adrian Peterson does what heโ€™s supposed to do from now to April 15, he will be on the field for the start of 2015, league source says.

@adbrandt: New NFL conduct policy also has Goodell or his designee as appeal hearing officer.

@adbrandt: The ball is now in Jeffrey Kessler's court to see if he takes this to court.

maturity of a one year old wine on full display.  what a moron.  hasn't learned much, can't just stfu, wants to take his ball and go home, plans to really show everyone that he....  ???  no, I don't want this idiot anywhere near my GBP.

from pft:

โ€œIโ€™ve considered retiring from the NFL,โ€ Peterson told ESPN. โ€œI still made $8 million this year. Iโ€™ve thought about getting back into the real estate [business in Texas] Iโ€™m already in. Thatโ€™s something Iโ€™ve been interested in, something Iโ€™m involved in. Iโ€™ve thought about getting back into that. Iโ€™ve thought about going after the Olympics โ€” you only live once. It might be time for me to pursue that, as well. I love playing football, donโ€™t get me wrong, but this situation is deeper than that. For me, itโ€™s like, โ€˜Why should I continue to be a part of an organization or a business that handles players the way they do? Making money off the field anyway, why not continue to pursue that [Olympic] dream and pursue other dreams and hang up the cleats?'โ€

So what Olympic sport would Peterson try? He says heโ€™d like to go for the 200-meter or 400-meter dash.

โ€œIโ€™ve seriously thought about this real hard. I continue to pray about it, but itโ€™s been something that has been heavy, heavy on my heart,โ€ Peterson said.
