Which law allows a parent to assault their child?

That smacks of being similar to someone asking, "So how many times did you beat your wife?" where it is implied the person has a wife and beats her.

There are some who believe that spanking is not assault and so for them it is a loaded question.

Assault; Battery; two different crimes in most jurisdictions which a vast majority of people confuse.

Assault - no contact

Battery - contact

Andrew Brandt nails it.

@adbrandt: Let's be real here: this was a negotiation, pure and simple. AP goes away, gets paid, Vikings get heat off, NFL parks him on a list.

@JasonPhilCole Greg Hardy, agent meeting with #Panthers this AM, expected to be placed on Commish's Exempt List.

What about the 49ers and McDonald?

Exactly Ammo. I hate the way the press keeps calling it a spanking. Let's call it what it was — The boy was whipped. Actually, what Peterson did was closer to caning like the do to criminals in some Asian countries.

"After giving the situation additional thought, we have decided this is the appropriate course of action for the organization and for Adrian," Vikings owners Zygi Wilf and Mark Wilf said in a statement. "We are always focused on trying to make the right decision as an organization.

Bull**** Zygi, you were forced into doing the right thing.

@AP: MORE: Police arrest Cardinals' Jonathan Dwyer on assault charges; police say victims were woman and toddler: http://t.co/Vi9NMqypPw

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has been arrested on aggravated assault charges in connection with two altercations at his home in late July involving a 27-year-old woman and an 18-month-old child.

Phoenix police announced the arrest Wednesday, the latest in the string of cases involving off-the-field violence by NFL players.

The Cardinals said they became aware of the situation on Wednesday and are cooperating with the investigation. He has been deactivated from all team activities.

Police say the victims are a 27-year-old woman and an 18-month-old child. One of the counts was "aggravated assault causing a fracture."

@AdamSchefter: With Cardinals RB Jonathan Dwyer under investigation, team announced it is deactivating him from all activities.

@AZCardinals: Statement from the #AZCardinals on RB Jonathan Dwyer. http://t.co/Xx183nMMaC

@adbrandt: Jonathan Dwyer deactivated by @AZCardinals after DV allegations.  Wonder if he/agent are asking for the "Commissioner Exempt" deal.

Jim Harbaugh has a no tolerance policy when it comes to hitting women or children. Did you not hear that?  No tolerance.

Wait, what's that?  He's still playing the guy arrested for domestic abuse of his pregnant girlfriend?  Well that seems made up, as Coach Harbaught was explicitly clear - no tolerance.  Please stop making things up.

Domestic violets?

It was that flour (spelling intended) 101 class he took.  Either that or he is a flower child - a generation (or two) removed.
