The most important takeaway from tonight, yes, perhaps even more important than beating the NFC’s 7-0 undefeated top seed, on the road, on a short week, without our Defensive Coordinator, down two All Pros and three Pro Bowlers, and 10 starters by game’s end, is what Goldie already alluded to.

In his post game interview with Erin Andrews, Aaron Rodgers said:

”But our fans, I mean look around. This was unbelievable how much green and gold was out here. Our fans were so loud, and they showed up. And we love ‘em. I love this football team, and I’m having so much fun with these guys. And I’m going to get in there and celebrate now.”

The business side of the game can suck. It can be soul crushing, and I get Aaron’s frustration. But listening to him talk now, he’s a Packer for life. After all the teeth gnashing with the front office, he’s the little kid out there like Favre used to be, without the interceptions.

Since week 2, he’s thrown 17 TD passes and 1 INT. He just beat the best team in football, record wise, with a completely depleted team on both sides of the ball. And he’s having fun.

THAT is music to my ears. The media tried to create a storm where there wasn’t one. Rodgers is playing like an MVP, and this might be his most impressive win yet in the regular season. The stats weren’t sexy, but he willed this team to victory. He sold his 37 year old body out diving, trying for the end zone. He put everything on the line because he wants to win desperately.

The media and the NFL can shove it. We’re so lucky to have #12 in Green Bay. Don’t ever question this man’s desire, his guts, or his talent. Tom Brady couldn’t carry Aaron Rodgers’ jock. I’m now convinced that Rodgers is the best to ever do it. Not Patrick Mahomes, the new “anointed one”, who is struggling, throwing picks left and right. Not Brady, with his 17 top 10 scoring defenses in 20 years covering up so many of his mistakes. Aaron Rodgers. There’s not another quarterback in NFL history I’d take over him. Not Joe Montana. Not Johnny Unitas. Not Dan Marino. Not Peyton Manning. Aaron Rodgers is the (green and) gold standard. And it’s looking more and more like he never plays for another team.

This defense came to play tonight. With that said, they still have plenty of warts, and can get their weaknesses exposed more often than I'd like, but I'll be damned if they're not stepping up and making plays. Their effort tonight was outstanding!

The offense was just as ready to run the ball down their throats. After a couple of weeks of fairly dismal rushing, the big uglies up front were blocking and creating nice holes. Jones and Dillon ran hard, and it had the desired effect.

Game planning. Some of the play calls seemed questionable, at best, especially in the red zone, but the overall plan was solid and well-executed.

-
Injuries. I don't know how many more obstacles the team is going to have to overcome, but FIDO.

-------
Officiating that had huge implications in this game. It's expected to always have some calls go against you, and the occasional 'phantom' calls pop up, but reversing the Jones TD is on such a different level that it becomes bizarre. I don't know what the agenda is, but it's obvious there is one.
Thank you, Douglas, a thousand times, for putting a permanent end to that shit.

+ game plan

+ a win against a previously unbeaten NFC opponent

+ a few more days of rest before a trip to KC

+ contributions from a lot of unheralded guys on both sides of the ball

- Tonyan injury.  Oof, sure has the look of a season ender

- game/clock management.  I understand they're working pretty far down the bench but, FFS, it's been an issue all year.

- special teams.  Hill was just icing on the cake.  I mean, come on man.  Wish him a speedy and successful recovery.

- goal to go offense.  Sure feels like Dillon would have given them a pretty good shot at 6, given one or two of the 8 cracks from inside the 2.

Positives:  The defense played it's ass off and they contained Murray

An NFC win always comes in handy later on

Can we all agree that we have one phucking really good HC?  Damn he had that team ready to go with missing all of those starters, on a short week with barely any practice, and the DC.

OL did a great job I thought and they did a great running the damn ball

Negatives:  I don't really have much to say bad on this one but I am not the biggest fan of the soft coverage in the secondary.  I get they are trying to keep their receivers in front of them but giving them 10 yard cushions on 3rd and short wont work.

The running game produced but I'd be heaping more praise on 33 and 28 than on the OL.  Most of their yards were after contact and from my couch, it looked like there was absolutely no room to run.  Jones popped a couple late where he had a lane but otherwise he and Dillon were met at the line or behind it on nearly every play.

I promise I'll have pos's later.  I couldn't have been more impressed with this win.

I read everything Vic writes but his "I've never seen a luckier team" shtick is really tired.  This was my comment on today's column:

Was GB lucky when the refs overturned a touchdown called on the field without any evidence it wasn't a TD? Was GB lucky to be playing without 7 starters, 3 of which are all-pro's, and without it's first 3 WR's on a short week? Was GB lucky when the refs spotted Murray the 1st down inside 10 on that last drive when he was clearly a yard short? Luck evens out over time. Green not turning for the ball wasn't luck, it was a mental error or communication break down, just like AR and 81 had on the previous drive. Get over it, Vic.

This did not look like a play from a guy who is planning to negotiate his next extension with another team.

Remember one play later in his Packers career when Favre took off and it was clear at about the 5 that he had no chance to get in without selling out and getting hit hard and he threw the ball away about 4 yards past the LOS to avoid the hit and took the penalty? That's not Rodgers.

What I was most impressed with about the D last night was their containment of Murray.  I expected to see him Vicking himself all over the damn field but not only did them keep him hemmed in, they also got pressure on him.  Rashan "AJHawk" Gary sets the tone on the first play from scrimmage for AZ and only by bad luck snags his facemask.

Even the best D's in the league will get boatraced on a drive or two per game but AZ was supposed to be the best scoring D in the league and we put up 31! with half our offense on the couch.

All that said, the last drive the D gave up is still concerning.  The most critical plays are the ones you make at crunch time and they put up little resistance on that last drive before the INT.  I was having flashbacks to the 2014 NFCCG after how the D nearly dominated the first 55:00 last night.  Rosul Douglass totally Rodney Poole'd the ending of that game.

Knowing how calculated and "3-moves-ahead" AR is, I wouldn't assume any of this equates to him being content with the FO.  He knows that the better he plays and the higher he elevates his brand, the better his leverage will be after the season.  Enjoying himself and giving everything he has is right in line with that.  It would also help keep him in good graces with the fans if he does indeed leave.  What would cement his standing in the franchise and it's fanbase more than another ring?

Now maybe if all the recent successful roster moves pencil out to another SB, and he feels those moves were at least partially due to the FO "listening to his concerns", maybe he has a change of heart.

We'll see how much he wants to win with how he negotiates later this year/early 2022.

GB, regardless of what he may want, is still the best option for him in 2022 and beyond.
