> Playcalling was fantastic on both sides of the ball. Dom dropped the DB's into coverage on 3rd and long, and McCarthy called some nice, intermediate, quick hitting passes.
> Run D, Worthy was very impressive against the run tonight as was CJ Wilson, Hawk was flying to the ball and Woodson had a good game in run support from SS, Matthews had a great game against the run as well.

> Uh..injuries. Lots and lots of injuries.

Not as bad as the Ravens though. Lewis, Webb and Ngata. Webb's the best CB in the game (not named Jarrett Bush), losing him is a big deal for them.

Rodgers came in pissed off. Someone please pee in his wheaties this week and keep him p.o'ed.

Alex Green. That kid played a great game. Nice vision and cut backs. Could have sworn I was watching Benson still.

CJ Wilson and the DL. Never would have imagined I wouldn't miss Raji but honestly that DL at least for tonight looked better then I've seen them since we had Jenkins.

MM. Called a whale of a game and the Packers simply outmuscled and out tempo'ed the Texans.

-'s

Injuries. DJ Smith looked the worst. Hoping Shields and Perry were kept out as precautions. Saw Perry several times standing in full dress on the sidelines after the injury. Hoping that's a good sign.
Paws

+ Rookie class.. Heyward, Worthy, McMillan
+ DL came up huge and set the tone for the game.. Worthy, Neal, Pickett, Wilson
+ MM play calling
+ Rodgers caught fire.. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
+ Jones ties Hutson for consecutive 2 TD games
+ AJ Hawk flashing the Shocker.. 2 in the pink, 1 in the stink
+ Serious YAC out of the TE position.

Negs

- Injuries.
Collinsworth mentioned AR spewing fire at the interviews, a good sign that the belly fire index is going up.

Bob and I are still very, very concerned at the number of high fives being distributed by defensive players. Would like to see Kevin Greene take a bigger role in the high fiving if he wants to take a defensive coordinator job some day.
Pluses:
-Rogers, Nelson, Cobb and Jones.
-Cobb's kickoff return. Timing couldn't have been more perfect.
-Front seven in run defense and in pressuring the QB. Crazy they played this well without Raji. Is Raji a subpar run defender?
-Discipline. Texans killed themselves with bad penalties, Packers didn't. All the Texans penalties were good calls, they were just stupid.
-MM's play calling; specifically, sticking with the run game, despite Green getting only 3 YPC. Running takes pressure off Rodgers and opens up the passing game. Shocking, I know.
-O-line looked so much better tonight against a very good front seven. Also run blocked well (Green left a lot of yards out there tonight).
-Youngsters: Hayward, Worthy and McMillian looked good. IF these three plus Perry continue to develop, this defense will have no problem replacing the aging talent.

Minuses:
-Finley. Rodgers has lost faith in him. 2 catches for 12 yards, 1 blatant drop, and 1 offensive PI. I don't think he got a target in the second half. He has been flat out awful this season.
-Hawk in pass coverage. His feet are terrible. He consistently gets caught leaning the wrong way.
-Still a few too many soft coverages when it was still a game. Walter, Daniels and Johnson seemed to have a few too many easy catch and runs. I know the offense will complete passes, but they just seemed too easy.
-Nelson's drop. He had a great night, but those drops have been the undoing of this team. Those can't happen.
-Blocked punt.
-Injuries. Hope none are serious.

I agree. Green shows some really impressive cutting ability. That's one thing I know scouts have really like about him. Even after the knee injury he can still change directions and cut extremely quickly.
Positives:
Rodgers played lights out
Heyward is becoming a playmaker
Clay Matthews is always a disruptive force
Jordy Nelson came through
James Jones had two unbelievable receptions for touchdowns
AJ Hawk seems to be playing with more intensity
Randall Cobb continues to make plays with the ball
Alex Green ran reasonably well
Offensive line provided good pass protection overall

Negatives:
Blocked punt
Tramon Williams seemed to have an off game
Drops by receivers
Injuries

+Bounce of the breaks. Finally got some tonight. They were long overdue for some good fortune

-Drops and again time management. That end of the first half was mindboggling.

Bounce of breaks where? Texans not ready for a prime time game is not breaks. Refs didn't decide this game either way and if anything the pack got the short end of the stick as usual. There really is no debating that unless you're one who thinks ryan won the VP debate.. I'm getting a TO. lol.
I don't think MM managed the clock poorly at all at the end of the first half. He put the team at the 50 yard line with about a minute left, but Finley's PI killed that drive. Without that offensive PI, i bet the Packers score at least a FG.

You can't always go ultra aggressive and assume you'll score a TD; you need to be careful not to leave too much time left for the opponent to score. Giving up a score there would have been a huge swing in momentum. Instead, they go into half time up 11 and get the ball to start the second half. Not a bad place to be.
