-Fire Coach Green he has no clue on how to coach up linebackers./Or lock him in a room and do not let anyother team talk to him, ever.

The Packers have one crazy outside linebacker coach. Who the heck is Walden
He equal his stats for the whole year 10 tackles and add his first two Sacks.
I thought who ever they put in that outside spot would be a liability. How can a team loss all its depth at linebacker fine a street free agent in the middle of the season who then has a great game in a critical situation. I am impressed.
I'm giving Bulaga big ups for one great play. On Rodgers' interception which Tillman made the long winding return on, 75 hustled his ass off and made the tackle after running at least 40 yards. Tillman may have scored on that play, which would have put the Pack behind 10-0. Probably the ballgame if that happens. Great hustle play by the rook.

And I wonder how many times a play has a WR running deep to clear out coverage underneath, only have the pass go deep. So much goes into each play that's hard to put the blame on one person. Unless it's a WR fumbling. Then it's obvious who screwed up.
+ Most complete game of the year in my opinion. Defense looked great. Everyone had a good game on that side of the ball - except maybe Shields.

- none really, good to see this team play inspired. The NFC is wide open, they have a good shot at running the table if they play inspired ball like they did today. Dropped passes and INTs need to be minimized. We could have beaten Chicago by 21 today.. i should say, should have.
The Packers were moving Matthews around again, which is something we were talking about on the board last week. That's big, IMO. You got to see the "Blitzburgh" that Capers can bring when he has all of his horses and it really is disruptive. 6 sacks of Cutler and they were close to several more.

Message to Mike McCarthy- if you are going to use John Kuhn, you put him in the "I" and give him a head of steam. If you hand the ball off at the LOS, he cannot do what he does best- overpower tacklers and get extra yards. He gets no momentum.

What the hell has James Starks done to be left out of the RB mix? Put him out there and watch your play action game explode on Philly.

Donald Driver hasn't played big this year, and I don't know why.

AJ Hawk had his best game as a Packer, IMO. TREMENDOUS all over the field.

How many INTs have the Packers dropped this year? They were one of the best in INTs this year, and they have dropped NO LESS than 10 INTs anyway. Very frustrating to watch, because those are game-changers that never happened.

Greg Jennings needs to catch the friggin' ball if he wants to be an elite player. That drop today was the same as the Lions game, and it could have cost them a playoff berth. In fact, I'll say that his drop against the Lions cost them that game and as a result, the opportunity that tonight's game would have been for the #2 seed and the Division Title. One dropped pass and we're 6th seed and on the road for the playoffs. One dropped pass.
Everybody on Defense played their ass off. A job well done by the players and the coaching staff. It's amazing how this team just plugs in the next guy and they keep moving.

GB won a very hard-fought game against a damn good team. The offense struggled but that was a very good defense playing with a lot of heart against the Packers. They get paid too.

Players that stood out:

Walden - Are you kidding me?
Masthay - Kicked the crap out of the ball.
Bush - Suck it Bush haters.... suck it.
Williams - Nice return at the perfect time.
Hawk - All over the field.
Woody - Ditto
CMIII - Lots of pressure.

And a BIG FAT kick in the ass to a handful of fans in the game day thread. Grow up. Drink less. Or both.
What. A. Game.

I think I aged 5 years on the Bears' final drive. Great stand by the defense. They came up all game.

+
Defense...Capers, Walden, Hawk, Woodson, Shields, CMII, Nick, BJ, Green...the entire unit had one of its best games. Cutler was under pressure all day. Great job.

Special teams...great punting, good coverage, and some good returns. Best game of the year for them, and it was perfect timing. Nice surprise.

-
Offense. The unit disappeared today, but they did enough to get the W. Rodgers had some nice passes down field, but he seemed off for most of the day. Jennings has to catch those TD passes. O-line needs to step it up for us to have a shot in the playoffs. Starks ran better than the other RBs. Playcalling was suspect at times.

Overall, just a great win under intense pressure. The Bears came to play. Nothing like beating them to clinch a playoff spot. Awesome.

ALL CAPS WOULD SELL BETTER.
(Has Bryan Bulaga hit a wall or was it who he was up against today?)
Bryan Bulaga made some errors today, obviously, with his penalties. But Bryan Bulaga will line up and start and play well in Philadelphia. That’s what I expect from him and I guarantee you he will prepare to do that. It was a winning performance for our football team and Bryan will learn from his mistakes. But I’m sure when we turn on the film tomorrow, there will be a lot of things that were very positive on Bryan’s behalf.

Say what you will about MM, the guy has his players back and seems to know how to get the most of that player. Case in point is the Starks situation as well, if you practice well you will play.

Bulaga also gets a game ball for his tackle on the INT, i'm with cuqui, if he doesn't i think tillman scores.

Unbelievable.

Thank you Mike McCarthy.

Brak, I love you man and if MM was the one who brought in Dan Compers and all the backup defensive players that is took to get through the season...then credos to him but MM has admitted that one of the best things about having Capers on the Packer's staff is that MM doesn't even have to think about the defense anymore. He can put a lot more of his focus on the offense.

I think he is a decent HC, but he also wants to be in almost total control of the offense....and his offense has underperformed all year.

Capers and this defense are what got the Packers to the playoffs.

SCORE SOME POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Music City, in response to your comment on Driver...I think the quad injury really slowed him down for much of the season. I don't think he's 100% yet, but he's made some real clutch catches the last few weeks. And the turnover today was off of a really nice strip. Driver had a good hold on the ball, the d-back just made a heck of a play.

His #'s on the box score might not look huge, but many of those yards have come in crucial points in the game. The 21 yard catch he made on 3rd down during the touchdown drive was huge.

I think Donald is back next year, and breaks the team record for receiving yards.

Absolutely disagree. It wasn't a great play- Driver didn't secure the ball the way he should have. It was barely tapped out of his hands, and it was a critical play because it stopped a major scoring drive in a close game. I love the guy, but I won't excuse it. It's not great football to have the ball poked out of your hands. Secure the damn ball.

Much like Jennings, you expect your big players to come up big in the biggest games. Driver has been a disappointment this season. He was injured, but that has nothing to do with ball security or drops (which he has also had this season).

The good thing is that it doesn't matter now. They have a chance to go to the Super Bowl. But they have to play better than they did today if they are going to win it all...
I don't know, MC, I only saw 1 replay, and it looked like Donald had the ball tucked up close to his body with one arm, and had just started turning to run when it got stripped. He wasn't waiving the ball around or anything, and I don't know if he even had a chance to brace with his second arm. Not trying to be argumentative at all Wink I'll have to see if I can catch another replay of it.

Ya, he's had an off year beyond the injury. But I think all our receivers have had some bad moments. Even as a Pro Bowler, Jennings has had some drops.

I still want him back, and I still think he can be a solid receiver. I want him on the Pack when we get to the Super Bowl next year.

He'll go over 10,000 yards receiving, retire with a Super Bowl ring, a Packer Hall of Fame election, and an addition to the ring of honor.

He deserves no less Smiler

This is what I saw. The defender's effort wasn't anything to thump about. DD didn't put it away.

Sometimes it seems like DD's hands aren't quite as strong as they used to be.
Why? Why is he allowed to play poorly? I don't think any player should be excused for playing poorly. Now I am not saying that we should run the guy out of town, but you look at him and say be a playmaker or we have to give your reps to a younger player who will make the plays.

He's been my favorite Packer for years. I love Double-D and I hope he shakes out of it and has a huge day against the Eagles. He is an integral part of this team and makes the offense better. But as great as he has been for 12 years, you still gotta bring it on Sundays THIS year. In the playoffs even moreso.
Because DD has had an exceptional career. That's why he's allowed to have a bad game. He set the standards high for what we expect of him. I'm not suggestion he be allowed to play poorly on a regular basis. But the guy isn't always gonna have a great game. Neither is Rodgers. Or Woodson. Or CMIII. Or any other player. They're human and they make mistakes and/or have a bad game once in a while.

Like I said, with DD, it's never a lack of effort or preparedness. You know he's gonna give a 100% all the time. But it's unreasonable to think he's always gonna be clutch, always make the big play or never have a bad game.

agreed. I still think he is the new age Clet Hunt. Even Ol' Cletius had a good game or two.

Doritos + Raji + Weed = offseason training program. Same as Clet.
Hunt had one average season, and he only stood out in 2002 because the rest of the defense was so horrible. Before '02, he had done next to nothing over his first 3 years. Everyone knew the was overpaid, but Sherman panicked because he felt he needed to keep what production he had when he was fighting with a tight salary cap. Raji should have been in the Pro Bowl, it's a joke that Ratliff got in instead.
I don't disagree. Of course he gets some latitude because of his track record. But all the effort in the universe doesn't help when you fumbled the ball away in a must-win game.

Take James Jones for example. He fumbles the ball away in the first Bears game, costing the Packers a chance to win that game. That loss had an impact today because instead of winning a playoff berth, they would have won the Division and a 1st round bye. He has also dropped a number of passes that were potentially big plays at different points of the season.

With this understanding of Jones' season, what is the general consensus on Jones' status of FA after this year? That he's not an indispenable player. In the NFL, Donald Driver's contributions to the team allow him to have a rough season- but they also shorten his leash. He becomes closer to James Jones than the Donald Driver of recent years.

And obviously it's not a world of absolutes, and that certainly isn't what I am proposing. It's not like DD needs to make a play like the 49ers game every week- but you gotta hold onto the ball when you have it. Fumbles ruin seasons- just ask the Giants.
