Eric Walden
I remembered about when he was signed so I looked up the article. If he were any good in Dallas & Miami he would still be in one of those places. More proof that Capers and his defensive staff are the real stars and should be locked up and their cell phones confiscated until next years TC.

Someone said that GB has a "draft" load of players on IR. And then they have these guys who are starting and producing. I say use the draft to fix the OL, especially now that Newberry has what may be a serious back injury, and get a RB that scares someone. And maybe add another deep threat WR.

That a younger player would make plays is nothing more than an assumption.
If we had a younger WR who was capable of playing better than DD, he would be on the field.

And get Bulaga on the leftside before you even sitdown to look at the draft.JMO.
I kinda believe GB had game planned to get Driver some catch's today to get his rec yards record. Not that that is bad or anything as DD deserves the record and has been making some sweet plays lately. I do think that Rodgers was dialed in on DD today early and that may affected the offenses output some especially DD fumbling when GB is in scoring position

I actually think it would have be huge for DD to have a big game going into the playoffs so the opposing defenses would have something to chew on. Jennings was and is by far the #1 guy and has been making clutch plays when needed. The thing with GB's receivers is they will need to catch anything that hits their hands to go far in the playoffs.Jennings , Driver ,Jones , Nelson , Quarrles , Swain and Crabtree and Lee need to catch the damn ball when they get a chance

Also it would be huge if Starks can break a long run or take a swing pass to the house. The other issue that I am thinking about is the TE's as I dont think MM and AR have confidence in any of the three guys and GB needs to utilize them there TE's to have a more balanced attack in the playoffs.
A guy like James Harrison was cut multiple times before really getting into the groove with the Steelers and becoming an all-Pro. Will it happen with Walden? Probably not, but the guy has far performed anything I ever dreamed he could. Some of it has been the scheme he's in, and some of it has been him.

We'll see how things shake out and maybe Walden will turn out to be more than just a stopgap guy.
Walden had a fantastic game rushing the passer; however, the Bears did have some big runs right at him. I think having Jenkins out on that side contributed to that, but he was still responsible and lost contain on a few plays.

Other than that, HUGE game from him. Kudos to Capers and Green.
I had to leave the game and so recorded it. I left just after the failed 3rd and 2 pass to Jennings. So, it turned out that I basically saw the best of the game as soon as I returned to see the recording.

+ ST's. Kickoff over the guys head. A couple punts including the one caught at the 3. Given the opponent, overall super st's.
+ defense. At one point in the 4th quarter, the Bears had 2 1st downs in the 2nd half. the defense got better as the game progressed, EXCEPT (see below). Specifically, I think Hawk had his finest game, Woodson was all over the field, DL was generally stout, Tramon was Tramon, and Walden.
+ Big plays to Jennings, which along with the overall defense, was the difference.
+ nice to see some Rodger's accuracy throwing long in the 4th quarter.

- o-line run blocking.
- receiver miscues (Driver fumble, Jennings miss followed by Jones miss, Jordy Nelson going the wrong way running after the catch causing a missed 1st down).
- Brandon Jackson as a regular back. Just highly mediocre stuff.
- This was not mentioned, but I didn't care for the Packer's defense on the Bears final drive. Didn't care for it at all, as a matter of fact.
- Decision on the 3rd and 2. Let's leave the vast bulk of long pass attempts for 1st and 2nd down.
+ The defense, including Capers, Greene, Moss and the entire defensive coaching staff. The job they've done cobbling together a very good defense with all the injuries has been remarkable.
ST in general and Masthay in particular. He needs to keep it up, but we may have (finally) found a punter.

-
Some pretty questionable playcalling my MM.

The offense in general. You've got to give the Bear defense its share of the credit, but the offense has been inconsistent all season. One game they appear to be able to score at will and the next they appear totally inept.

Bulaga was playing RT out of necessity this season so I do expect him to move to the left side but it might be to play LG. Chances are if he struggled at RT he'll have bigger problems at LT.
+ Troy Aikman FINALLY realizing, in the 2nd half, that the Packers had no reason to look at the Giants score since Tampa already won.

- Pam Oliver thinking she was clever asking MM if he knew the giants score at half.

Sheesh, get a clue Fox.
I'd still give a rookie a chance to improve in his second year. His future might remain at right tackle, but I wouldn't move him to guard just yet because he had struggles with a position change as a rookie.
I'm not saying move him because he had struggles at T. There was a lot of opinion coming out of college that he was more suited to play G and there probably will be an opening at LG. It could help our run game.
Bulaga is probably our starting LT next season. I think he could probably play anywhere on the o-line except center. Pretty Damn good for a rookie being shuffled around.

As much as I hate the prevent... being up by 7 all GB had to do was keep CHI out of the EZ. The prevent is the best way to do that in that situation as the clock was on the Packers side. Make CHI earn it by preventing the deep / quick strike. Also, give the bears OL some credit, they blocked much better on that last drive than they had all game.
I guess I didn't see the "prevent" on the last drive. They were bringing different people. The Bears did a decent job picking up those players. A couple of the passes caught were hot reads to Olsen who was head in check up to that point.

Shields had great coverage until he slipped on that pass to Hester just missing deflecting it.

I guess I see no reason to move a tackle to guard if he can cut it as a tackle. It seems you think he isn't a tackle, I disagree. There will be openings at tackle that are more pressing than guard.
++++

Masthay and Bush
The Defense, especially Walden
We beat Da Bearsss, though it did look sketchy at the half

- - - -

Drops, again
Play calling, again
Bulaga...but he's a rookie, so some ups and downs are to be expected especially given who coaches him.

The biggest plus, IMO, is that we had to win two games just to get to the playoffs and we did it. We're good and tuned up now, so I think we go to Philly with a little bit of an edge.

I noticed that as well. You're right, when a team has to score a touchdown to tie or win, playing some form of prevent is the right call. Obviously not the right call if a team has to score only a field goal.
+ Listen to Chicago Sports Radio and listening to the idiot Bear fans call in, and I quote:

"After Greg Jennings, Matt Forte is a better receivers then anyone on the Packers"

This guy was trying to convince Waddle and Silvy that the Bears WR's were better then the Packers.

She did that? I missed it. Surprised MM didn't tell her she had a polluted mindset and then throw her into the bleachers.
Made my last trip up to Lambeau of the year, and it was a hell of a way to close out the home season.

+ Crowd was great again. The fans were electric for the Giants game and kept it up for 60 minutes yesterday. Even the Bear fans in our section were tolerable for the most part. I suppose that might have been different if they had something to cheer about.
+ Best ST performance I remember from this team in a long time. We all said during the week that no Hester=no offense, and he was completely negated. Tramon chose a fine time for his biggest punt return as well. We'll need to see more of the same against an equally dangerous DeSean Jackson.
+ Beating the piss out of Cutler, my least favorite NFL player well before he was a Bear. He certainly did not look like an NFL QB yesterday and will need more than 100 yds and a 45 rating if he wants to beat Brees in two weeks.
+ I was glad Lovie played his guys and made this a game. I would not have faulted him for pulling Cutler after the 3rd or 4th sack, but didn't want to hear any excuses from Bear fans.
+ My favorite season stat I've been tracking improved. Pack finished the year 10-2 in games where Rodgers and Matthews played 4 quarters. In spite of all of the injuries, they got it done when the offensive and defensive MVPs are in the game. The only two losses came at #1 ATL and at #2 CHI by last-second field goals. Anything is possible in the playoffs with those two in the lineup.

-Having such a tight game really cut down on the TBSS chants.
-The O-line cannot continue to lose 5-4 matchups. I realize the Bears have a strong front 4, but there was pressure all day without much blitzing. Have to tighten that up.
-Running game was disappointing after making a brief two game appearance. But you have to credit the Bears. For all of their faults, they can stop the run.

May have been meant for Kuhn, but defender was locked in on the flat. A good tackling defense would have blown that pass up. I don't agree with the decision to throw it 40 yds downfield from your 28 on 3rd and 2. I'd much rather have seen a TE sit down just beyond the LOS maybe 4-6 yds. It's not easy to say it was on MM or Rodgers, but there are more viable options than needing a near perfect throw 40 yds away.
Concur artis, sometimes you need to grind one out and that 3rd and 2 call was one of them

I hope there is a lesson learned for MM and AR on that one, but they tried the same thing with Flynn with no success vs the Pats a few weeks back
That being said though, I do like the play itself, just not on 3rd down so deep in your own territory. McCarthy and/or Rodgers seem to constantly have these calls/down and distance conflated.

They have been doing it all year. Its worked a few times, but its failed more often.
Is there anybody on the planet that likes that call? I am continually dumbfounded by that call. Kuhn does much better when he can get a head of steam going and do his jump thing and drive his legs with his back turned.

He's not far off, just misdirected. Forte's a very good receiver. After Greg Olsen he might be the second best receiver on the Bears.
