Ah no, Bush was light years better than Burks.

Bush was mentioned as a possible Pro-Bowl candidate at special teams. I haven't seen Burks in that type of discussion.
Of course, the best Jarret Bush play of his career was his interception of Big Ben in the Super Bowl.
@Henry posted:We all know Kirksey is horrible. You have maybe 3 ILB, I don't think Pettine is "devoted" to Kirksey. That's like saying Mayo is devoted to MVS.
There's plenty of other reasons to bag on Pettine but he has complete hot garbage to work with at ILB.
And yes, that was a stack of pancakes with syrup and butter.
The thing is that Pettine was likely the one that pushed for them to sign Kirksey because he played for him in Cleveland. There's no way they sign him without making sure Pettine gave a strong recommendation. That doesn't mean he's married to him, but it means it will take more to move on from him. The same thing will happen to Gutey/MLF in about 2023 if Jordan Love isn't looking good.

It was popular last off-season to say WR and ILB were the Packers biggest needs. Big needs for sure, but I still say DL/DE was/is the biggest need. You can make due with decent ILB if you're stout upfront...something the Packers would never be accused of. The Packers D-Line rarely controls the LOS and is often getting washed out. That loses football games...especially in the playoffs.
Look at the Bears. Roquan Smith and Danny Trevathon suddenly don't look so great with the loss of Hicks. It all starts up front !!!
C'mon Gute........Free Kenny Clark !!! Not gonna happen this year, but if he relies on Lowry and Lancaster next year it will bring similar results on defense.
Yup on the DL.
Revisited updated pff scores today. Savage's score has come up significantly. As others have said, biggest need is improvement at d-lineman & ILBer. Martin for Kirksey ; Winn & maybe new guy Rush for Lowry? Continued improvement from P. Smith. Some may disagree but Kenny Clark has been only "above average" this year instead of "elite". He is nowhere near the top interior guys this season, may still be feeling effects of injury?
Or I don't know, maybe because he has no help because Lowery and Lancaster have been exposed.
The problem with the Packersβ defense is not who they have. Itβs who theyβve had (drafted) that have pretty much sucked, especially given the high draft capital used.
Randall, Rollins, Ryan, Adams, Biegel, Fackrell, Jones, Burks, Thornton
The defense is already better if just a couple of those guys are just good, not great, just decent. But they were all drafted in the top of the draft and have been complete busts for the Packers. Teams certainly wonβt hit all the time on high picks. But thatβs way too many upper tier picks in the last couple of draftsto get nothing out of.

I donβt think moving on from Kirksey will be an issue. He signed a 2 year deal, this year was always going to be a tryout to make sure he was 1) healthy and 2) still effective after being constantly injured. The answer to both is no so heβs going to get released for cap relief.

β Good teams are going to consistently take advantage of Kirksey in the passing game. The Bears got him several times in the first half.
β Kirksey had an ugly game defending the red zone. Cole Kmet should have had a touchdown against his coverage on the first drive. Kirksey had a DPI late in the first half and then got fooled by the run action on Trubiskyβs touchdown pass.

Good teams? Hell, the shitty teams arenβt having any problems doing so either.
#Packers S Adrian Amos acknowledged that the defense had some plays at the end of the #Bears game that were mental lapses and resulted in TDs. He said the message has been this week about focus and finishing off teams when they're in position to do so.

Message sent.....after all we have seen a message was sent this week?
I would have written a very strongly worded letter.

Huh, Barnes has been on the COVID reserve list.
"Devoted". Who was left? Kirksey, Martin, who is always getting hurt and was dinged at the beginning of the game, and Summers. That is some serious fucking hot garbage. Add the Lancaster/Lowry spacetime void and you get double the garbage.
Maybe some FO dumbshit should be stocking the shelves.

I don't think many people are arguing that point. While Patrick Queen would've been a great pick I was looking at someone like Blacklock. The WR position was so deep they could've picked up a contributor by the 3rd round. Good thing Gunt drafted zero DTs.
Love better be a fucking superstar.
Panic pick.

Probably could have had Ron Jeremy in the 8 th round.
