To carry on with the Gutey lovefest, please compare his trade of picks for impact veteran players, ya know like SFs acquisitions of Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams.

Or Philly's acquisitions of AJ Brown, Darius Slay and D'Andre Swift.

First of all ...it's not a Gutey lovefest.

2nd....plenty of times they've tried to get players and cannot - sometimes the player doesn't want to come to Green Bay. Sometimes their agents are using the Packer org to jack up their clients price tag. Bidding war.

I know you don't want to hear that. It isn't a copout. It's a fact. It's business

This year they're obviously up against it with the cap to get Godgers dead money off the books.

All I'm saying is we could do a LOT worse than Gutey - Carolinas owner picked Bryce Young. Frank Reich wanted CJ Stroud.

No GM is perfect so stop acting like the Packers GM is supposed to be perfect and better than the other 31 teams ALL the time.

Driver was in his tenth season and would run circles around any WR on the current roster.

Jennings was in his third season and would run circles around any WR on the current roster.

Jordy and Jones were in their first year and were probably better than any WR on the current roster.

Donald Lee was in his sixth season and was better than any TE on the current roster.

Ryan Grant was a formidable RB who ran for 1,200 yards.

The O-line was anchored by two 8-year vets in Clifton and Tauscher.

Personnel matters. Any comparison of Love and Rodgers in their first seasons is apples and oranges and pretty dumb.

So the GM sucks compared to the GM that replaced Favre.  I concur.

Remind everyone again the contract implications of taking on those established playersโ€™ contracts and what said teams were paying their starting QBs.

------ All of my preferred teams on every level from HS through college to the Pack suck right now and have for the past couple of years. They're all killing the blissful football buzz that I should be enjoying about this time of the year.

It's kind of a bad down cycle and unfortunately, I think it's going to be a while before the trend turns upward again on all levels.

You inspired me to look back at how my old HS team did this season.  In my day, we lost two conference games in my four years and went to the playoffs three of those years, making it to sectionals once.  Also beat the previous year's state champ one of those seasons.

This year they scored 16pts in one game and were blanked in all of their other games.  While not scoring any points, they lost those games by an average of 37pts/game.

So thanks.  For that.

Fair point, Boris.  Like I said, he's the least of my concerns, but given his draft positions, and having 5 drafts pass with only three blue chippers, isn't a great track record.  To be fair, we can really only judge the first two of his drafts at this point, so let's look at those.

2018:

1.18: CB Jaire Alexander, Louisville - Blue chip

2.45: CB Josh Jackson, Iowa - out of the league
3.88: LB Oren Burks, Vanderbilt - not good
4.133: WR Jโ€™Mon Moore, Missouri - who?
5.138: OL Cole Madison, Wash. State - out of the league?
5.172: P JK Scott, Alabama - OK pick but out of the league?
5.174: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, USF - good off and on, terrible hands
6.207: WR Equanimeous St. Brown, Notre Dame - we got the runt of the litter
7.232: DL James Looney, Cal - who?
7.239: LS Hunter Bradley, Miss. State - have no idea where he is
7.248: OLB Kendall Donnerson, SE Missouri State - out of the league?

Score:  One blue chip, one semi useful player, one WR2.  The rest...garbage

2019

1.12: OLB Rashan Gary, Michigan - Blue chip
1.21: S Darnell Savage, Maryland - OK starter
2.44: OL Elgton Jenkins, Miss. State - Blue Chip
3.75: TE Jace Sternberger, Texas A&M - horrible
5.150: DL Kingsley Keke, Texas A&M - horrible
6.185: CB Kaโ€™dar Hollman, Toledo - who?
6.194: RB Dexter Williams, Notre Dame - out of the league?
7.226: LB Ty Summers, TCU - horrible

Score:  Two blue chippers, one OK starter.  The rest...garbage.  Actually, not a bad draft considering we got two blue chippers.

If we want to peek ahead:

2020

1.26: QB Jordan Love, Utah State - OK, remains to be seen
2.62: RB A.J. Dillon, Boston College - OK starter who's a dime a dozen
3.94: TE Josiah Deguara, Cincinnati - total garbage
5.175: LB Kamal Martin, Minnesota - who?
6.192: OL Jon Runyan, Michigan - OK starter
6.208: C Jake Hanson, Oregon - maybe he's playing somewhere else?
6.209: OL Simon Stepaniak, Indiana - garbage
7.236: S Vernon Scott, TCU - is he even playing anymore?
7.242: OLB Jonathan Garvin, Miami - OK starter

Score:  So, a little better here.  4 mediocre starters, the rest...garbage.

In summary of drafts we can fairly judge, we did get three blue chippers, which is good.  A big concern is that out of 27 draft picks, only 6 are starters here or elsewhere that I know of.  Again.  Least of my concerns, but I doubt he's been better than half the GM's in the league.  If you have the time to prove me wrong, I'll definitely read it and be happy to eat crow.

Edit:  Actually, Garvin isn't a starter

Packers Offense film actually isn't as bad as I thought... There is just no consistency to ANYONE or ANYTHING. This is life with such a young team/QB. Finding a play with all 11 doing their jobs/knowing their assignments is so f'n rare.

Every play feels like Russian roulette.

That's coaching....plain and simple - as a HC you need to examine each play 11 times so you see what all 11 guys are doing. Anyone not doing their job needs to either be counseled what to do moving forward or cut and find someone who can or is at least willing to do the job. It's really that simple.

Stop coaching like you're playing with a bunch of All Pros. You have exactly Z-E-R-O on this team. (Maybe Rashaan Gary....maybe)

Hate to say it but Berry is out coaching MLF right now. Weโ€™ve held our opponents to 20 points or less in 5 of our 6 games. Thatโ€™s enough to win every week in this league. But you canโ€™t win when your offense only scores in the 2nd half of games.

Those other offenses were also shitty, and the defense showed once again it can piss away a win with the game on the line with anyone.
