Two things.

First, kind of ironic in that Beathard's success with the Redskins not so much about having a franchise QB (SB wins with Theisman, Williams, Rypian).

Second (and no big deal), Redskins had 4 SB appearances, one a loss to the Raiders.

Grant it, it was well before free agency.  But Bobby Beathard was known for trading his 1st round pick most every year.  I think during his GM tenure he only had 3 first round picks....and he hit on all three: Art Monk, Mark May and Darrell Green.  He was a believer in trading the unknown for a known player(s).  And it paid off (at least somewhat) as his teams were very successful.  Of course, free agency changed a lot as players were not allowed to move on their own.

I don't think MM seat is getting hot yet at all and I honestly believe the Packers will let him coach as long as he wants. But, I think this year can go to 2 extremes with MM.  Either it wears on him so much that the end could maybe be coming in a year or 2 due to burn out or he sees it as a motivation to get things right going forward.  I of course don't know the guy but I bet he sees it as a motivation to get things right.

Perry Not Being Used Right

I’ve had a huge problem with Dom Capers’ predictable schemes and his lack of adjustments during games for the past 2 1/2 seasons. Now I have a huge problem with another thing – his common sense. Outside linebacker Nick Perry clearly does his best work from the right side, so what did Green Bay’s veteran defensive coordinator do last week against the Lions? He placed the former Southern Cal star on the left side 2/3 of the time. Not surprisingly, Perry’s strip-sack of quarterback Matthew Stafford, which resulted in the Packers only touchdown of the afternoon, happened when he was playing on the right side. I’m sure Capers will have an explanation for why he’s not putting a talented player in the best position to be successful, but like everything else about the defense lately, I’m sure it will make no sense.

I could've gone "Grand tit" because his posts on game day are so awesome!

McCarthy is a good head coach overall, but there's a few things he could do differently. It's easy for us to sit on our couches and blast McCarthy when the offense isn't working, but he's missing Rodgers, Finley, Cobb, and the majority of our offensive line. Even then, at least with Tolzien, we were having no problem moving the ball.

Capers has had some dinged up players, but time and time again the defense has failed this team. It's time for a change there.

Not poo pooing today, but this was a bad Birds team that also dropped some key passes. ATL called the right plays often but the WR's just dropped the ball including a key drop on that last drive.

Burnett had another lousy game. It was just refreshing to see that Jennings finally got pulled and Richardson had extensive playing time. From what I saw, he appeared to play pretty well.

Today I heard a well-known sports talk guy say that he had good sources who have told him that Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy have a strained relationship and Rodgers is not very fond of McCarthy.

Point being that if the Packers struggle again next season and their friction becomes more noticeable, it could signal the end of MM in Green Bay because the Packers ain't gonna say good-bye to AR.

I don't doubt MM and AR have had their moments, but I'm not betting the farm that they have some fractured relationship either.

When Rodgers has all the toys in his play box (e.g. Finley, Cobb, OL is healthy etc), that offense simply hums. And we've seen countless times where Rodgers adjusts plays being called in, kills a play call, and makes his own adjustments and I have never seen MM go off on him. IMO Rodgers has a lot of independence to run that offense the way he wants to, much like Manning did with Indy.

I don't know where the tension would come from. I don't see that MM is handcuffing him in any way..

So as I pass this nugget on to my friends, I'll be saying "So a guy on the internet heard a guy on the radio who knows a guy who says Rodgers hates MM."

Good enough for me----I'm going with it!

Christ you're like a 13 year old girl.  You live for this kind of gossip.  Did you glimpse Rodgers and MM for a 2 seconds on the sidelines to confirm this nugget?

A view from an other-teamer (FWIW):

I would keep McCarthy and just try to get everyone back healthy.  However, I think Capers has become damn near useless as a DC.  His schemes have become predictable and the Packers D as a whole lacks mental toughness (even when it's relatively healthy).  I know some Pack fans want Lovie Smith, but that ain't gonna happen.  Romeo Crennel is available and has been great as a DC (though not as a head coach).  He runs the 3-4, so the Packers wouldn't have to switch defenses.
