Capers to unveil "Nitro Defense" in 2017

4 safeties on the field at one time?

So far, the “nitro” package hasn’t opened the door to using four safeties on the field. Through camp’s first week, Burnett, Brice and Jones have not shared a team rep.

It remains to be seen whether the Packers will use four safeties, but McCarthy said Tuesday he doesn’t foresee a problem getting all his playmakers enough snaps.

Just coach defense Dom. Stop the other ****ing team. Totally done with elephant and NASCAR and pshyco and the like. Teach your 11 to stop their 11 and quit wasting everyone's time.

I'll give it to Toupe that he is,  I guess ? trying? to come up with new looks/twists to the D.

But I just can't shake the feeling he's going to just outsmart himself, again.

Nitro is a gimmick and it has never made a beer taste better.

That because you've never had it out of a spiral neck bottle that flumes it right into your yapper.

Beer bottle technology.  Serious bidness.

Nitro and barrel aging are two fads I just can't get behind (as always, who gives a **** about my opinion, drink what you like).  I am all for the different combinations folks put out there (had a pineapple blonde the other day, loved it, coffee stouts are great, same with chocolate porters.  Vanilla and smoke, while they sound good, always suck balls in beer), but fail to find the appeal of nitro and barrel aged beers.  I get the mouth feel, but it always comes across as... soapy?

And trust me, Dom's cluster**** defenses have lead me to drink a lot.

Great. Now the rest of the league knows. There goes the surprise he was supposed to reveal in the Super Bowl.

FYI. ...Patriots already have tape of it

At least we are not "doing what we do" like we suffered through with the offense when our WR's were all hurt.

That is not a proclamation of faith, just an observation that I'd prefer the Wizard at least try something new.  Also, anything that keeps Hawk 2.0 off the field is a positive in my mind.

As long as everyone is actually fundamentally sound when nitroing.

I don't doubt The Wizard's scheme prowess, I have more doubts about getting the players on the same page.

It's like a bad game of D&D.  Dom is the worst Dungeon Master ever.

Jesus.

That a lot of work just to justify being a drunk.

NOW we're talkin', Dave!
If I'm not mistaken, that's an old Dunn & Reath car, probably from the early 1980's. Big Jim Dunn is still racing today (as a team owner).

I didn't feel like pulling up the Dom sucks thread so here.

Packers all in with Nitro

This isn’t just the future of NFL defense, it’s the now. Inside linebackers are going the way of the fullback, and unless you have the rare one who runs in the 4.4s, like the Seahawks’ Bobby Wagner or the Jets’ Darron Lee, you just can’t play two of them together much anymore.

“If you’re not clocking a 4.4-something, we have a mismatch,” said Packers defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois, “and those guys like (Tom) Brady and (Aaron) Rodgers are going to find it.”

In fact, you can’t help but wonder why the Packers didn’t go this way a year or two ago

The terms “Psycho,” “Amoeba,” and “NASCAR” all deservedly elicit giggles, but this feels like Dom's most significant shift in philosophy since he’s been in GB. “Nitro” is the name of the personnel package, but all reports suggest this will be the base nickel, which the team uses 75%+ of the time, not just some wrinkle to be thrown in the mix.

The defense has nowhere to go but up and the fact that we’re actually seeing Dom play a little copycat for once is actually encouraging for me. I’m allowing myself to be excited by the prospect…until Lacey plows through it to the tune of 170 on opening day.

With what? That ****show at safety AND Inside Linebacker?

I mean, maybe that was even a planned sub-package, but Mr. Injury never came back at big safety.

They actually were working on it 3-4 years ago with Sean Richardson in the S/ILB role.  Neck injury derailed it.

When did they start bringing Burnett down to LB on a consistent basis in nickel?  I won't claim to clearly remember but that sure seemed like last year at best.  And as far as being serious about it, Richardson was a UDFA.  I would call that more of a flyer than planning to consistently execute a Nitro package.

So either Dom was on top of the defensive sea change and TT told him to **** right off or Dom went right on Wizarding thinking Richardson may be a interesting option.  I'm going with the later.  TT may be frugal in FA but he definitely listens to MM about what they need from the draft.  Maybe MM is the dope?
