Starks/Green/Saine could probably get the job done, but the question that remains to be seen is whether or not McCarthy puts them in a position to succeed. Figuring out how to keep the middle of the offensive line from winding up 2 yards behind the LOS at the moment of the handoff would be a good start. Calling plenty of running plays if that does happen (regardless of the "matchups") would be even better.
The challenge will be to keep MM from letting it become Arena ball. He has to at least have a threat of a ground game. Allowing the D to tee off constantly is going to get Rodgers killed, to say nothing about wearing down our Oline. We don't have great depth on the line, so if one of our big guys goes down we are cooked. Not that we aren't halfway there already.
To win a Super Bowl a lot of stuff has to go right.
Some years things just go wrong. Ok Benson is done, now the Packers have to find out about Starks and Green.
Let’s hope some players we did not expect step it up. If not Ted needs to do some reloading on offence, and get a new Defensive Coordinator

Interesting Wilde and Democsky had a bad feeling about the PAckers this year, I wonder what they were picking up?

I wish @RobDemovsky or I would've had the guts to predict what we said to each other at end of camp. Both had a bad feeling about #Packers.
Yup, sometimes things go very wrong. The last time the crap hit the fan, we won a Super Bowl. What's frustrating is we didn't win it the past two years despite the talent. Now this year we are experiencing things going wrong and we're not handling it very well. That's the frustrating part. Previously we handled adversity a whole lot better than we are this year.

In Aaron's rookie year, Mike still would run the ball when they were getting 1-2 yards on every carry. Back then he was just trying to protect his first year starter, let's hope that Mike has learned something over the first five weeks. What he's done this year as far as passing attempts has outpaced even what we saw last year when it was working by a fairly large margin.

Here is the pass/run ratio over Aaron's career as a starter:
2008: 1.2/1
2009: 1.26/1
2010: 1.29/1
2011: 1.4/1
2012: 1.7/1

If the ratio were closer to 1.4/1 or 1.5/1, I'd be more likely to believe Mike's story about favorable scenarios, but it doesn't hold water when the ratio is so badly skewed. The fact of the matter is that he has just gone gaga over throwing the football, and he needs to realize it just isn't going to work.
The danger of that success in 2010 is anybody from players to coaches thinking everything is just going to be alright simply because it was back then - and that they can simply repeat it. If they don't find that same fight, this season could get a LOT uglier.

Yeah, I don't understand that post at all, Pacman. Are your numbers saying we've run 1.7 times for every pass attempt? That has to be backwards. Or is it 1.7yds/attempt? Or it's just late and I'm tired. Confused
Too bad for Benson. I had no complaints about his play and effort.
Starks should be good to go from this week forward, assuming no further injury.

I agree with others that hope MM won't abandon all hope in the rushing attack. In fact, all the more reason to build more rush attempts into the game plan; our opponents surely wouldn't be expecting that!

Lastly, it was a tough week for league-wide injuries. Lots of people knocked out of games yesterday.
Grant plays for the Washington Racists.

I doubt they'd sign him even if he still was a FA. And I highly doubt they sign any FA for that matter.

I think they'll give Green a chance to establish himself. He showed burst on that 41 yarder but wasn't having much success before that. I think it'll end up being a timeshare between Starks and Green.

IMO, they are in better shape at the position with Benson out then they were in 2010 the vast majority of the season until Starks came on.

True, the difference being in 2010 teams defended the Packers as if they might actually run the football.

Starks needs to step up mentally. Too many blown assignments last year. I always got the impression McCarthy and Rodgers didn't fully trust him.
Then this year after we signed Benson, players were singing his praises like he was the first real running back they'd played with in a long time. To me that said a lot about where Starks is, and Green cruised right past him on the depth chart. Starks is healthy right now and wasn't even activated against the Colts.

It's deja vu all over again at RB. It was thin coming in.

After the 2nd to last practice during TC they both thought there was something off about the team... in Wilde's words, the team did not have the same feel to them as they did coming out of TC in '09, '10, '11.

Couldn't disagree more. No way anybody worried about BJack. If you are referring to Starks way late in the year and in the playoffs then maybe...

The first opposing defense to play pass on every down, literally every single down regardless of down and distance, was the Chiefs last year.
