I posted here about a couple months ago that this was in the works.  It's the impression I got from someone I know in the Pat's front office.

X4 is the only place you need to go for football.

He was a master at backfilling his roster with scrap heap guys whom he found a way to get the most out of.   You can do that when Tom Brady is your QB.  He often had to because on top of drafting toward the back of the order every year, he also had little success in RD1.  Not taking anything away from him as a HC but Brady also helped the rest of the roster.

Great coaches find a way to at least stay in it year after year even without a great QB: John Harbaugh and Shanahan are two that come to mind because they do it with great defense year after year. But Harbaugh and Shanahan both look even better when they have a QB to make it all go. It appears Belichek had a hard time replicating what he did once Brady was gone.

And maybe that's what's so surprising about MLF this year: he has managed to keep the team relevant even after losing a HOF QB and his (own) shi**y DC. We all wondered what would happen once Rodgers left, and MLF getting this baby roster to the playoffs, in addition to his adjusting to a new QB and finding his strengths, has been a huge surprise.

Belichick in Atlanta.....he's going to ride that Bijon Robinson into the ground oh ...and you year long fantasy folks....Kyle Pitts is going to have 160 catches next year.

Jerry may offer his youngest born to get Belichick to DAL.

It would be a move just like when he hired Bill Parcells 20 years ago. The difference is that Dave Campo was 15-33 as the head coach the previous 3 years and they needed to make a change. MM is 36-15, but if they lose to the Packers JJ will be flying Belichick and Vrabel into interview for the head job on his private jet by Tuesday morning.

It has to be someone who already has a QB that they think is good enough to win with. Belichick is 72 years old, he can't wait for a new QB to develop for 3 years.

The Cowboys are one team, but it would be an incredible bookend to Belichick's career if he ended up back on the Jets as the head guy after backing out of the head coaching job 25 years ago. The Jets check a lot of the boxes that make sense for Belichick.

The Patriots have hired Jerod Mayo as their new head coach.

At 37, Mayo now will become the NFL’s youngest head coach, taking over a title that Sean McVay had held since being named the Rams head coach in 2017; Mayo is a month younger than McVay.

Per Schefter:

Season’s first general manager hire: Commanders are hiring 49ers’ assistant GM Adam Peters as their general manager, sources tell ESPN.

Peters won Super Bowls while working in New England and Denver, and has been in SF since 2017, helping build one of the NFL’s top rosters.

Another team the Packers face next season will have some new faces on the offensive coaching side.

Pete Carmichael Jr., the longest-tenured offensive coordinator in the NFL, will not return to the New Orleans Saints in 2024, coach Dennis Allen announced Tuesday.

Senior offensive assistant Bob Bicknell and wide receivers coach Kodi Burns were also fired.
