Interesting stuff regarding the 2 times we tried to sign Randy Moss from Andrew Brandt's perspective.

Bert Throwing A Hissy Fit

Particularly funny to me is TT refusing to speak to Bus Cook and letting Brandt take the angry calls from Cook when we were unable to ink Moss.

Funniest part of the story.

quote:
I told Brett to trust what we had at the position; that Greg Jennings would be a star in a couple years. He said he didn’t have a couple of years.
I like the way he worded this part...

quote:
My constant message that our method of drafting and developing talent rather than acquiring proven commodities only served to infuriate him and his resentment of a general manager that showed him none of the compassion and welcomed input of previous regimes.
quote:
Ted did not want to deal with Bus

Ted, Eye heart ewe.

I've been privy to some of this info for about a year to 18 months or so. Great to see it finally come out in the open.

Andrew Brandt really gives us great insight to that whole fiasco.

Brett looks worse & worse. See the tear rolling down my cheek.
Bellichump is more aggressive than Thompson. He also involves his star QB in recruiting. Stop the press. They share a number of traits, but Bellichump was maybe in a position to gamble a bit more. He did. Moss is a Patriot. So be it.

Thompson has also "become" more aggressive (see Matthews and Burnett) in the draft.
None of this is surprising. The only thing Brett cares about is a ring. Damn the rest of the team. Bleed the Packer coffers, destroy the team for the next decade, as long as he gets his ring. Thankfully TT had the balls to tell him no.

Actually, now that I think of it, TT is the only person *ever* to say no to Brett. And for that I thank him.

Translation: TT failed to sufficiently stroke TOG's fragile ego.

Not only that but thanks Andrew for confirming what most of us already assumed, and that's Mike Sherman played a very big of creating the egoistically monster and diva that Brent is today.

Brett doesn't care about a ring. If he did, he wouldn't have thrown that pass vs. the Saints last year.

He's an egotistical, ass hole that cares only about himself. (And his family too, I give him that)

He's already won a Super Bowl, it's not important to him anymore because if it was, he would've won about 4 of them already.

Win lose or draw, he gets paid the same. That's all it's about now.

Yeah you're right here. You don't skip the entire offseason, training camp and half of preseason and expect to roll into the Super Bowl.

Still glad TT told him to pack his bags though.

I'm with you!

And the article reinforces what I had observed from my seats and the TV - Brett was so cozy with Sherman that he could do whatever he wanted. Sherman surely had a role in the making of the diva.
That's eye opening. I've heard forum nerds talk about GB's pursuit of Moss, but thought it was nothing more than forum blather. Never read a factual firsthand account on it before. They did really try pretty hard to bring that cancer to GB. Unbelievable and more than a little bit nauseating. I really like Ted Thompson, but he went down a notch in my book after reading this. I never ever want to see Moss in Green Bay. Said it before and will again.. I'd have to boycott the season before rooting for a team with that "play when I wanna play' scumbag on it.

Best part by far. Jennings will be retired before Favre.
BTP! I've never seen that vid before. That's hysterical but man, it sure brings back a LOT of bad memories in 2.5 minutes. All of a sudden I feel an uncontrollable urge to go punch something and scream a string of obscenities at no one in particular!
quote:
You mean everyone of those INTs was the WR fault?

haven't you been paying attention? of course they're the fault of the WRs - they either don't come back or ran the wrong routes. the lord is infallible!!

What this should have said, and what it really means:

"Brett Favre was angry that in addition to QB, he couldn't play GM, player personnel director, and offensive coordinator like he did under Ray Rhoads and Mike Sherman."

Look at the damage caused by Favre, the behind the scenes GM.

Too funny Pakrz....I have an "acquaintance" at work who I told that anytime he starts a story with "I have a friend" I immediately know he's lying!

Remember that quote after he won the Super Bowl? To paraphrase, Is that all it is, winning the title? Big Deal!

It was pretty clear he retired in '08 to protest Thompson's failure to sign Moss. I said that when he decided to come out of retirement.

You forgot Bus driver?
So, not giving Moss a 1 year deal is what hung this up? For a 5th round pick.. even a 4th potentially?

13-3... OT in the NFCC, could Randy Moss have been the difference maker in that game ala Plaxico Burress for NYG? A receiver that could go up and snag balls in the horrible conditions? We didnt do the deal because Ted was worried he'd out perform his contract and then cost money the YEAR AFTER?

Wow. I can't believe none of you are mad. This makes me even more mad.
