Here is the other analysis on it.

Lylera's injury settlement extends to midseason. So, in theory could bring him back ~Week 15. Still another 6-10 weeks of rehab.

Reasoning for waiving Lyerla: if they IR'd him, that'd mean another full year without playing football. This way he has a chance.

Colt arrested last night back in Oregon.

Former Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla was arrested in Washington County at 2 a.m. Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Lyerla, who was arrested almost a year ago in Eugene for cocaine possession, was released at 8:37 a.m. Saturday. Sgt. Vance Stimler said the report on his arrest is not yet available, but that Lyerla is suspected of being high on either illegal drugs or prescription medications when he was pulled over.

I had read earlier this week that he'd gone back to the Portland area following his injury settlement. Immediately thought that was a big mistake, back to all the old influences and pressures. Hope he gets his life together at some point.

Yup. The SB Nation longform piece on him this week paints quite the cautionary tale about growing up as a sports icon without the support system of family/coaches who care about the young man, not the athlete. Guess it was predictable when he went to Oregon that the bigtime NCAA meat grinder would neglect that.

Feel bad for the crack baby that has no choice but become addicted to drugs.

Hard for me to feel that bad for colt lyerla. Not every kid with family issues has the chances that this guy got through athletics. He pissed it away. Shame on him.

Ted won't do it because Lyerla was awful last summer.
