great, Pack still has him!
Colt era officially over.
Packers waived him today with an injury settlement.Gives him a chance to possibly catch on with another team opposed to GB IR'ing him for a year.
Here is the other analysis on it.

Lylera's injury settlement extends to midseason. So, #Packers in theory could bring him back ~Week 15. Still another 6-10 weeks of rehab.

Reasoning for #Packers waiving Lyerla: if they IR'd him, that'd mean another full year without playing football. This way he has a chance.
He will be a full fledged horse before he surfaces again....
Either that or the glue our kids and grandkids will be sniffing.
Really???? A man can tell you did not Serve...
F...ked Up Beyand All Relief...
Hey, I served - on a tennis court - and still did not know what it meant.
He still might be back next year. Will be interesting to see if someone else takes a chance on him
I think the injury settlement shows that the Packers think the Lyerla experiment is over. If they were truly excited about him, they would have kept him on IR all season and paid his salary.
If he is on IR he can't be put on the PS when he is healthy later in the year. His injuries likely won't take the full season to heal.
He's worthless if he's on IR and can't practice. That just means he'll be the same or even worse next year. Really nothing to lose. If someone signs him, so be it.
Colt arrested last night back in Oregon.
Former Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla was arrested in Washington County at 2 a.m. Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Lyerla, who was arrested almost a year ago in Eugene for cocaine possession, was released at 8:37 a.m. Saturday. Sgt. Vance Stimler said the report on his arrest is not yet available, but that Lyerla is suspected of being high on either illegal drugs or prescription medications when he was pulled over.
I had read earlier this week that he'd gone back to the Portland area following his injury settlement. Immediately thought that was a big mistake, back to all the old influences and pressures. Hope he gets his life together at some point.
Christ, he looks like Al Capone.
whatever demons....
I imagine that statement with valley girl inflection.
He's a loss cause. Let's move on.
well, he just brought the hammer and the last nail for his NFL coffin.
cya
Deck was stacked against him from grade school. Sucks seeing anyone with natural gifts disintegrate like this. Hope he's able to figure things out at some point.
sadly his "natural gifts" were not a brain and common sense

Yup. The SB Nation longform piece on him this week paints quite the cautionary tale about growing up as a sports icon without the support system of family/coaches who care about the young man, not the athlete. Guess it was predictable when he went to Oregon that the bigtime NCAA meat grinder would neglect that.
Too bad.
His problems/demons/whatever begin and end within himself.
Hope he gets his chit together sooner rather than later.
Quite sad. But that pretty much kisses his NFL career goodbye.
I'm strongly considering not only benching him but removing him completely from my FFL roster.
Kindest regards,

Hard for me to feel that bad for colt lyerla. Not every kid with family issues has the chances that this guy got through athletics. He pissed it away. Shame on him.
Colt has been gelded
Jolly had to make 2-3 attempts to get his mind right.
There's hope, no matter how slight the chance.
**** that clown.
Ditto. He landed in a perfect situation for him with a team needing his skill set and pissed it away. Go grow up somewhere else.
with a 90 man training camp roster I'd have no problem taking a look... but I don't see Ted doing it.
Yeah it's a risk free move at a position of need, so why not? Don't think TT does it but wouldn't bother me if he did.

Ted won't do it because Lyerla was awful last summer.

Except he's a 18 time **** up. That's why not.
Maybe 19 is the charm.

...and he can't play football. Dude sucks. let it go.
He's a soccer player trapped in a footballer's body.
