excuses, excuses, excuses. I've never seen him play but I know I don't want him on the GBP.

On Monday, Te’o blamed his poor performance during the 40-yard dash on the overall stress of the Scouting Combine.

“I was running near a 4.6, a 4.5,” Te’o told NFL Network after officially clocking a 4.82-second 40-yard dash. “Today was just a long, long day.”

Te’o called the Combine a “very exhausting process,” explaining that he got to bed late and got up early, with roughly four hours of sleep per night.

Of course, Te’o experienced plenty of mental stress, too. He met with 20 teams individually, and he endured a packed-house press conference on Saturday.
If Te'o didn't attend Notre Dame would he even be in this discussion?

He was overhyped from the start. Some of that isn't his fault, but he's a walking and talking question mark. All the distractions aside, I just don't know that he's a legit NFL linebacker. He really got worked over against Alabama and a poor 40 time certainly hasn't helped his cause.

Maybe this is the mother of all smokescreens but I just don't think it would be a smart move to draft the guy.
That slow time was the best thing that could happen for the Pack, if TT and the team have him rated high. A good time would have for sure meant he would be picked before 26. Now he has a chance to fall.

I've said it before, all this goofiness will be old news once the regular season kicks off. If he is a bust, you won't hear a peep, if he plays up to the hype, well then that's good news for whoever has him.

Unless of course, that is who he really is. In the NFL that is not good. He disappeared against AL - which is well documented. But there were other times during the season he disappeared in games. Speed and maybe strength are part of that. Only one of those can be fixed. The other can't and that gets you into position to make great plays. And when a teammate makes a big hit and the ball goes up in the air and Te'o just happens to be there and reap the reward in the form of an interception, that makes the highlight reel, but I would rather have seen more big hits from Te'o himself. I for one was not high on the guy even before the AL game. What has happened since would make me walk away as a GM.

Not sure how haunted he is by that pick - he was a consensus top 5-7 anywhere you looked. I doubt anyone knew or could project that Hawk's ceiling would when he was 23.

I posted something similar to this back in Jan. in the If Capers goes... thread: Draft and develop, but with Hawk they only got the first half of that equation.
Just like with a lot of players, if Te'o falls it won't be because of his 40 or his sexuality it will be because he isn't as good as the hype says. And he's not. I've gone back and rewatched things looking for something that he does really well and I can't find it. He's good at a lot of stuff, he's bad at a lot of stuff, but there's nothing really outstanding about him. I know 1 game doesn't tell the whole story, but if you can't get your crap together for the biggest game of your career (to that point), that says a lot IMO. He played against a team that is the closest thing to an NFL team you can have in college and he crapped his pants. It would be different if EVERYONE for ND had a horrible game, but there were a couple guys that had decent games. They weren't game changers, but they held their own. Te'o didn't come close to holding his own, he looked like a guy who had zero confidence. THAT is the reason he will fall.

The media will make it out like teams are passing because of his sexuality, but I guarantee you that if he played like Patrick Willis no team would care how gay he was. But he doesn't, he plays like a poor man's Nick Barnett. I guarantee Te'o won't be drafted until the late 2nd/early 3rd.
Agree, Grave. I watched Te'o against AL and he was buried by blockers, slow to react and attack. The only thing he tried to do was anticipate and get to where he thought the play was going to be -- if he was unblocked he made the play, if blocked, whiff. Whenever I saw him in highlights of interceptions, etc., the ball is tipped or right to him. He's a product of the ND hype, and I would be sorely disappointed if TT picked him. I would hope to be proved wrong if he ends up in GB, but...

I can: Vontaze Burfict. But agreed, Teo has had a terrible combine. Screw the interviews, you can't lose weight to run faster, then run slow and decide not to lift. I really hope the Packers don't draft him. I'd rather a character risk like Ogletree (if both are there), knowing that at least he'll be a stud on the field.
