Almost??

Here's what I did today.....

Worked until 11:00 AM. That's one hour after kickoff here on the West Coast.

Picked up Wifey and drove into wine country listening to the game on Sirius during the drive.

Watched the final Cal/Stanford attempt/play on YouTubeTV then started drinking wine.

I can't remember being more uninterested to watch my favorite team play.

+ (NEG depending on your POV) 10 games left. Unless Packers go 8-2 in last 10, I'm going to win my under 10.5 wins bet before Thanksgiving.

After realizing what an asshole I was for being so pissed off losing to what I thought were inferior teams in the Giants and Jets, I took a mental health day and decided to not even watch any football today. Each year, 31 teams have their season end in disappointment.  Ours is just coming earlier this year, which may be better than having hyped up expectations that crash in the playoffs.  Not many fans have had a 25-30 year ride as good as ours. Just hope I live to see another before I croak.

Sammy Watkins told reporters this week his hamstring felt fine but he β€œneeded to get back in football shape.”  Thought that was kind of weird when I read that.

Then he’s out there on that long throw in the second quarter and he’s clearly interfered with, but he has to let up because … Why? Announcers thought he was hurt, but replaying it, he just ran out of gas! So they pick up the flag because it lands uncatchable.

That would have been a big gain that put us in FG range if he can simply keep running. But he’s gassed. Just like his career.

If there is a play that defines this season that was it right there.

Rodgers has no one to throw to besides Lazard. Doubs scored a massive 0 fantasy points on 3 drops at #2 WR. Lazard drops one on 3rd down. Tonyan looks like his knee doesn’t even work. The other rookie (Watson) is on the bench, and even when he played, he didn’t know the playbook and Rodgers had to tell him is assignment every play.

Who could have predicted this? That’s right, EVERYONE.

Great job Gute.

Big problem is no owner. Board doesn't give a shit as long as the seats are full. No pressure on the GM (yet ) , no pressure on the coach (yet) letting players dictate personnel ect. Hate to tell you all but this team while winning 13 games a year, was on the razor edge to a .500 team and fully broke when Lewis fumbled against SF.

If this is the beginning of a return to dark years, die hards better get used to Lambeau being filled with opposing teams' fans.  It's still a bucket list destination for football fans and even non football fans.  As more Packers fans who were spoiled by the success of the last 30 years start to tap out, those seats will be taken up more and more by opposing fans sucking up the secondary market.

Then will the board care?  I don't know.  If the seats are full...

I remember that.  Unfortunately.

I’ve managed to block it from my memory.

I would rather watch the early 80s 8-8 Packers than this team. We lost as many games as we won. But the games were still often a lot of fun. I never doubted the effort of those teams. We had a porous defense, and Eddie Lee Ivory was always hurt. Even though we lost a lot of games 35-31, I still loved watching Dickey air it out.

This year’s team is like Chinese water torture.

My dad was a lifelong Packers fan…because of him I am. I grew up in CA in the 70s and 80s so seeing Packers games was a rarity. 1987 life changed because a friend of my dads set up a 14’ satellite dish and from the Don Majkowski season on I got to see almost every game.

My dad was never able to see a Packers championship won. He was born in 1939…every year they were in the championship he was in the service overseas or working as a govt contractor. 1967 was the closest he ever got, was supposed to be on a flight from Guam to Hawaii in 1967 but he missed it and missed the game.

He died in March of 1995 after a 9 month battle with brain cancer so he missed that season and 1996 Super Bowl.

I am blessed to have seen the Packers in 3 championships and win 2 of them. I am well aware of how rare and special they are.

Dickey led team was fun to watch on Offense. Unfortunately the D was horrible and they had to score 30 points every game just to be in it.

I hear you, Chongo. After hearing about the glory years with Lombardi, and knowing nothing but mediocrity for so long, I never expected to see the Packers hoist the Lombardi Trophy in my lifetime.

I’ve seen them in three Super Bowls, winners twice. I’ve seen the Bucks win it all. My hockey team has been the Penguins since before Lemieux was drafted, so I’ve seen several Pens hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup. God willing, I’ll see the Brewers win it all before ai shuffle off this mortal coil. That’s my one remaining wish, as baseball is my greatest passion.

If it doesn’t happen, I’ve been lucky, and I’m most appreciative.

I thought Rodgers was an aloof diva who didn't coach the receivers.

He didn't look happy about it.

If you go back and watch when the Packers were in the huddle during games when Watson was playing, you can see #12 telling him something individually every time. The huddle would break and Rodgers talks to Watson.

It was no secret Watson missed most of training camp. It would have been a longshot to have him ready either way.  Just like it was longshot Cobb would make it a whole season without getting hurt. Same with Watkins.

TE is even worse: You have gimpy Tonyan, next-door neighbors Degaura and Davis, and 85 year-old Marcedes Lewis. The cupboard has been empty since Day 1.

12 rushes in this game.  12!!  Every week MLF says they need to get Jones the ball more, and every week they don't bother rushing.

Here are the numbers of passes and rushes in our four losses:

Passes: 141

Rushes: 65

Absolutely unacceptable.

Edit: on those 65 rushes Jones and Dillon averaged 4.5 yards per carry.  Laughable play calling.

I really want to see Bob Uecker call the last out of a World Series win. The chances of that happening are almost zero now. 2019 was about as close as they'll ever get.

The Bucks won obviously because they got a top 20 (at least) player all-time as the 15th overall pick. But almost as importantly, when they fell short a couple of times in the playoffs, they decided that they needed a different point guard and went all in on Jrue Holiday. It worked.

The Brewers are content just to make the playoffs and don't (or won't) ever mortgage a chance to win 85 games three years from now to get over the top.

The Packers front office's main goal is much like the Brewers. Stay competitive every year, but don't ever sell out to win in the current year. If the Bucks were run like the Packers, we'd still have Eric Bledsoe bricking shots in a playoff series. Heck, if the Bucks were run like the Packers, they'd probably still be waiting for DJ Wilson and Thon Maker to turn into difference makers.

Other teams know they have no deep threat and can crowd the LOS and play 7 or 8 guys in the box.

The last two games, Jones has 17 carries for 42 yards. He's running into a wall virtually on every carry. The OL has not been great, but it's the WR/TE position that's affecting everything.

MLF figured out that they needed to get Jones the ball in space and not pound him into a stacked LOS which is why he got 9 catches for 53 yards and 2 TDs. I thought that part of the game plan was good. It was literally the only way they could move the ball.

Their WR and TE group might be the worst position group in the league. They aren't good when they are all healthy and when they are missing Cobb and Lazard (in the 4th quarter) they are comically bad.

I think Badgers football has a better chance of winning a title than Brewers or Packers right now.   Mark Attanasio is a cheap skate and the Packers are beyond apathetic and dysfunctional right now.

UW lands a legit HC that can recruit and they have a shot.

Bucks are the leader in the clubhouse by far.  And I’d rather watch mediocre HS tennis than the shit show Packers.
